The neighborhood is nice and Sake Sushi is located in a small plaza, however I almost missed it since it is located on the side of the plaza and was not visible from the street. Inside I found an interesting mix of decor, it seems like a traditional Asian restaurant with white linen tableclothes and also some very modern touches including neon strip lighting along the ceiling and a variety of light fixtures. Overall a bit of a mishmash that would be better if they picked one style and stayed with it. I got there in the late afternoon so the place was empty at first, I was seated and given the menu which allows you to fill out what you want. The menu is fairly similar to other AYCE sushi places I have been at. Of note is that at dinner you can order up to 15 pieces of sashimi without an extra charge. I ordered a nice selection of sashimi, some sushi, a couple of different maki rolls, the salmon skin salad and the seafood soup. Interestingly the sashimi and sushi came out first, then the maki rolls, then the soup and salad. The sashimi was very good, fresh with nice sized pieces; the nigiri sushi had a nice portion of seafood to rice. I was a bit disappointed with the seafood soup, just a bit under seasoned and too much bean sprouts. The salmon skin salad was excellent with nicely roasted smoked salmon skin mixed with a bit of eel sauce, delicious, crunchy and one of my favorites that you don't see everywhere. I also enjoyed the scallops sashimi, large fresh raw scallops with a nice delicate flavor and texture. The maki rolls were good as well, nicely sized with plenty of filling. I did really enjoy the Super Lobster Roll with shrimp tempura, cucumbers, avocado then topped with lobster salad; the lobster salad was a nice treat, although I think it was made with lagostino lobsters it was still tasty. I also liked their version of spider roll, the soft shell crab was crispy and flavorful. I enjoyed my meal at Sake Sushi, dinner was $30 for all you can eat. The sushi and sashimi were very good, of course not quite the same quality as the best sushi bars but pretty close. Service was good and there are plenty of choices, including noodle dishes, fried rice, hibachi and tempura. The decor is a bit of a miss, but nothing that will keep you from enjoying your meal. Well worth a try if you are hungry and feel like some sushi and Japanese food.

I would have liked to see a few more choices on the buffet…read more My visit was on a Friday and I'd been torn between Chinese and Fish Fry...some baked cod and/or battered, fried fish would have been nice. They did offer a salmon selection, which would have excited me, but what was being served during my visit tasted as sad as it looked. Why 4 stars then? The place was clean, friendly, attentive without hovering, and accommodating when I requested extra coconut sauce, but mostly because of the shrimp. Their shrimp was done perfectly! I did not have to merely tolerate tiny, tough shrimp as found at most buffets, but instead, truly enjoyed medium/small shrimp generously included in the entrees, served alone (battered/fried in tempura, tossed in coconut sauce), and not overly coated butterflied n breaded. The shrimp made the visit worth it, but most of the other food was enjoyed as well. Wether or not I recommend a Chinese buffet usually depends on the egg roll, crab ragoon, egg drop soup, and egg foo yung. I was very happy with taste and size of egg rolls (they offered both spring roll and egg roll wraps) and ragoon. I was too excited about the shrimp to taste the soup, and, unfortunately, egg foo yung was not offered on the buffet. Overall, I did enjoy my quiet dinner alone and will absolutely visit again, perhaps with family or friends.

After seeing that, I completely lost my appetite and just wanted to leave. It made me seriously question the cleanliness of the place. Please save your time and money and go somewhere else. The Market Fresh Buffet is inside the Chula Vista Resort hotel just off the main lobby. We dined…read morehere because we were visiting the water park and had the all inclusive package, which meant we got to eat at the buffet at no extra charge. The idea sounded really good, but after having dinner there two nights in a row the very thought of even smelling the food in there again made me feel nauseous. They boast that they have "live action" stations where you can have food prepared for you on the spot. The whole term, "live action station" made me think I might see people in lab coats looking at moving amoebas and other bacteria under a microscope. The truth is they are just areas where chefs who looked thoroughly bored and underpaid for such torture, fry up some pasta in a pan and serve it to the fifty people standing in line for it I don't know what the food at the "live action" stations was like, because I refused to wait in line for an hour at a buffet. But maybe I should have because.............. The rest of the food was pretty sad. The young kid we had with us loved it because they had school lunch specials there like smiley face potatoes, mini corn dogs, popcorn chicken, and spaghetti-O's!! Yay, happy fun time. Everything really was soggy, mushy, with rice filler, or strange sauces that made you think, "what the hell is this?" Even the pizza was soggy from sitting there for too long under the heat lamps. Since this is a buffet, the idea is that you help yourself. But you still have a waiter who is SUPPOSED to bring your drinks and refills thereafter. However, every time we ate there our waiter stopped by once and then disappeared only to return at the end to give you the form you had to sign as part of the all inclusive deal. On one particular night we stopped our busy waitress as she tried to run by, and asked about dessert. The buffet sucked balls so hard we thought, "hey maybe the dessert will save us." NOT. The waitress looked appalled that we asked about it. There was no dessert bar or anything like that at the buffet, instead they bring around a tray and you select what you want from the different slices of desserts. My dining companion and the kid chose cheesecake. They were teeny tiny little slices and when I asked how they tasted dining companions didn't have much to say. So it must have been mushy, flavorless crap just like the rest of the buffet. There was a lot of strangeness here. Despite the soggy, mushy, mess they served, it was awfully stinky for being so flavorless. The only thing that was nice about this place was the decor. I've heard they charge 25 dollars per person for the dinner buffet, but in reality I think they should be paying you 25 dollars to stay away so you won't give them a shitty review like this one.

Buffet is advertised as "Las Vegas style" buffet. Not really. Selection was OK, but not nearly as…read moreawesome as the typical LV buffet. It's in the Chula Vista resort, by the registration desk. Nice looking restaurant, looks good. Server was very attentive, helpful, came back frequently to check on us, answered questions easily (and correctly). Now, the not so good stuff. Way overpriced at $21.96 per person, plus 11.99 per pound if you wanted crab legs, which are not included on the buffet. Food was mediocre, some dishes had not been refreshed for a while and were pretty dried out. When fresh pans were brought out, it looked like they were probably sitting under warmers in the kitchen, as they also looked dried out, particularly the BBQ ribs. Pizza, spaghetti were both dry. Cod was moist however, and my wife said it was good. Bottom, for the price, would have expected better.
