great food, fair prices and friendly staff. we eat here every time we are in town. We live in Texas now, but grew up in the area. We have family around Chesterton and valpo we come visit a few times a year.

Random, stop today!!! Staying in Michigan decided to go to Bass Pro shop, and hubby got hungry, so I hit the next exit searched for dinner, and here we are. PEGGY SUE DINER !!! LET me start with my initial feelings of walking in !!! Soooooooo cute even customers said hello !!! I felt like I had just stopped by families home. Now, in to the food. Hubby got 2 over medium eggs, white toast, and pancakes!!! All that matters with that meal to me is the pancakes !!! Let me tell you they are ABSOLUTELY DELIGHTFUL!!! They are hot, buttery melt in tour mouth. I got a Chesterton omlete. It has sausage, green peppers, and onions topped with cheese. I also chose hashbrowns. Another great choice. Hashbrowns cooked, not burnt, and the omlete was not dry with the perfect amount of insides. I will be back, and I must insist EVERYONE TRY PEGGY SUE'S DINER

A friend and I stopped in for brunch and were pleasantly surprised. There was no wait on a Sunday afternoon, we were able to find street parking pretty easily. The inside was clean and cute. Our food arrived shortly after ordering. The staff was friendly and attentive. I ordered the smothered gravy biscuit and my friend ordered the BLT. We both loved our food!

This diner always has good food. I normally get breakfast here, but have also grabbed a sandwich at lunch. The service is friendly, sometimes a bit slow when they are really busy. The prices are cheap in comparison to most places like this one. Right in the town square, easy to get to with parking nearby. Looks like a dive, but that's part of its charm.

Cute decor- car theme. I ordered the Hot Rod combo with sausage links, over medium eggs and French Toast. All were cooked perfectly! Our server was fun with tons of personality and lots of energy.

This is so disappointing one of the only breakfast places in town it used to not be to bad a couple years ago. But now the staff and service is terrible. Me and my dad were going out to breakfast and we had to wait an HOUR for our food and about thirty minutes for refills. I'm usually not to picky about how long it takes and I know it's hard to help A lot of people when there are only 3 workers. But come on this outrageous the server was very rude to us at first and then fixed up her act. Also the owner of this establishment was just goofing around and so loud and obnoxious! BY ALL MEANS DO NOT COME HERE! I'd rather drive an hour to eat then wait in this rude and not well kept up establishment!

I had the "meatloaf" which was brisket/short rib combined with a nice sauce on top. Absolutely delicious. It came with mashed potatoes/gravy and bacon green beans. They use the fresh green beans that "squeak" when you bite into them. Full bar with some hard to find bourbons. I will definitely be back!

Funny enough, we had visited a sister restaurant by the same owners in Miami a few years ago and loved it. The menu was different (more seafood based) but the vibe was the same...laid back, fun and in a super cute setting. We sat in the bar area and we're there for happy hour. Honestly folks, you can't beat the happy hour prices for both food or drinks. I went with a glass of wine and hubby had a beer on draft. We decided on fried pickles because who doesn't love them? I know fried pickles and wine... Not the most common combo but that's how I role. For our entrees we both had chicken. And let me tell you, it was cooked perfectly. The crispy skin was amazing! You shouldn't be shocked that I ate the skin, I had just finished fried pickles so I knew there would be nothing healthy about this meal!! The biscuit was also very good. And did I mention the happy hour prices... Bonus!! Our waitress was the bartender and she was so great. She was warm and friendly and made our great experience even better! I actually complimented her for her service, she was so above and beyond and was surprised to learn she hasn't worked there that long. I think her name was Michelle, but sadly I waited a few weeks to write this review and now I'm not positive (def not an Elite move).
