Ordered the grilled chicken sandwich. Swiss cheese and bacon was ok. Chips were like store bought dried. Friday I was there was short handed. Took nearly a hour for me to get my food and it was ok. A little too Swampy with the mayo on the sandwich but it was my first time eating there. Also the waitress came she was gonna ask how I was doing but before I could say anything. She talked over me. I ordered the honey chicken sandwich. Great presentation but that is where it stops. The chicken breast was really small covered about half the bun. The first bite of this sandwich was fine. The next bite was a piece of chewy rubbery mess just like the remainder of the chicken. At that point I paid for my sandwich. The lady asked me how was the sandwich. I was honest and told her that it was just a mess. I told her the chicken was chewy. She just remain totally silent with a blank look on her face. Food was very good. Service was a little slow, but that had been the trend. I had sunny side eggs, hash brows, biscuit and gravy. It was excellent. The hash browns tasted excepting good. Not sure what the flavor was. I liked that I didn't taste salt as the major flavor. The atmosphere was very down home. They make homemade pies. We didn't try one. What a fantastic little spot. Actually not so little because there is a lot of seating. It reminds me of an old ice cream parlor. Very cool and old diner feel. We couldn't decide on what to get so a few things were ordered - the eggs Benedict was spot on (though I usually like my hollandaise really lemony - this was well balanced) The biscuits and gravy were delicious - soft and doughy biscuit with yummy sausage gravy (I added a little salt and pepper to it) The corned beef hash was SOOOOOO good. It was cooked to the point that it was crispy, which in my opinion makes it so much better. My boyfriend got the meat lovers plate which just looked like a pile of yumminess - I didn't try it. The service was super quick and everyone was VERY friendly and helpful - great team atmosphere for a busy Sunday morning. We got a piece of blueberry cobbler to take home and heated it up for a few seconds - DELICIOUS. Prices are low for the amount of food you get. Definitely worth a visit! read more

This place was meh. I had the Mexican omelet, which was tasty but small. It was supposed to come with salsa but it didn't, so I had to ask for it, and then they brought me this tiny plastic container of cold salsa. My husband had a skillet, which came as a pile of stuff not in a skillet, and his onions and bell peppers were not cooked. A mouthful of raw onion is not pleasant. read more

First time in Laporte, and yelp helped me find another gem. If you like traditional American hospitality and good food, you'd be hard pressed to find a better example. From the friendly greeting of "morning" by the couple sitting on the bench outside, to the friendly staff during our visit. We instantly felt at home. The western omelet with a side of biscuits and gravy was very good, but my daughters Belgium waffle was just OK. She asked for strawberries and whipped cream, thinking they were fresh strawberries, but they were more like a jam. All in all, the visit was very good and we definitely will return when we are in Laporte again, just without the strawberries. read more

This diner is not safe for diabetics. They do not offer alternatives to their White bread made meals. So since we are told by dieticians to eat whole wheat bread or some other bread rather than biscuits and other white flour products we have no alternatives even if you know that this is dangerous and can kill people. My family and I ordered through Grubhub today and Grubhub was great, this diner on the other hand will never have our business again and we will NOT recommend them to anyone else we know who have medical problems that are easily worked around. read more

I'm so sorry la Porte that this is the food you have here. I got a blt club and it was awful. The bacon was so over cooked the fat was crunchy, it was so salty too. Just super cheap bacon. My tomato on the sandwich was over an inch thick. Seriously guys? It's a blt not a tomato sandwich. $3.50 extra for fries instead of off brand potato chips, little too pricey for me. The pickle wasn't even good. I did order mozzarella sticks with ranch and marinara and those were just off brand nothing special frozen sticks. The ranch tasted and smelled like the inside of a fridge. The over cleanliness of the place is awful. Got super sick after I ate from here. Do not recommend ever! But!!! Next door there is a dog treat place that sells awesome natural dog treats!!! read more

I just had a simple breakfast. 2 eggs over medium and they were cooked exactly like I wanted. I asked for the bacon to be extra crispy and it was while the fat still had a little wiggle. The toast was the right balance between crunchy and soft. Breakfast is tough to talk too long about but when it's right, you gotta rave. The service was right on point. Well done La Porte read more
