The food would definitely improve! First time but you know there has to be a first time for everything. I always drive by and I see the best burger in Laporte. Well, let me let you in on what we ordered tonight. Now I understand it's a holiday but if you don't have the right supplies, don't sell the food! My granddaughter had the butterfly shrimp. It was so dark brown and taste it so bad like old oil my grandson had some steak wrap that he couldn't even eat it because it tasted old and then me I wanted to try that best burger in town. It came with no condiments like they advertise. I told him I wanted the burger, medium rare and it was well done the fries were uneditable so dark and greasy. Know what I did taste of the burger. It did have some flavor, but it was so dry and so hard that it's just you know $40 worth of food was a waste but like I said you have to try it now if I decide to try this again and give them the benefit of a doubt it will not be around a holiday and I will take the family and we will eat there. And this way I can tell if this was just you know a bad day or whatever but as of right now that has to be the worst food I have ever eaten in this town. read more

I'm not a big Gordon Ramsay fan, but I have never seen a bigger need for a bar rescue than this place . Actually, it's the other bar rescue asshole that I don't like but you know what I mean . i've never seen a menu where everything is crossed off as far as the prices. Yep, there is more. A dirty looking dilapidated kitchen with food being pulled out of a refrigerator that is lower grade than mine. Looks like a good place to get food poisoning and you can tell they don't care. Looking at reviews on Google maps, seems there is a reason the prices are crossed out on the menu. Embarrassingly high priced for low quality crap. Playing bingo for "appetizers" that no way in hell are any kind of a prize. But wait, there's more. Incredibly understaffed and you can tell everybody that works.there is stressed out. This review is for the pizza only. I love JJ's pizza. It might be the best pizza I've ever had! On this occasion we had a large hand tossed supreme pizza. The crust was nice and soft - not over cooked nor any brown coloring. The pizza is piled with meat. The ground sausage has a little spice flavor. JJ's cooks their green peppers ahead of putting them on the pizza so they are softer after being baked. There is so much cheese on top - it forms a nice think bed of deliciousness! The sauce isn't very prominent but does add a small amount of flavor without over powering it. Give JJ's pizza a try!! read more

was called eight minutes before they closed after waiting three hours from Grubhub to be told there was no driver and to pick up our food and still pay for everything when I told him that was unacceptable. They said that's fine and they were going to throw our food in the trash, very rude lady on the phone did not want to work with us had no sympathy probably will never order from here again due to terrible service. They were willing to throw our food away after we paid for it and then they told us we had to take it up with GrubHubto cancel it and get our money back even though they kept our food and threw it away. Really a fun place in an area of town called "Pol-Town" #1 the best wings in this town! They offer breaded and non breaded (my fave) bone in wings and breaded boneless wings. #2 great burgers #3 a lot of event type stuff- like bingo and trivia nights. Did i mention- they have outdoor volleyball courts there! Really fun for the whole family. OMG- the best fried pickles Ive ever had. They are not the typical corn meal breading- but a tempura style. Its not for everyone- but I love them. Delightful! The negatives- they don't always have things on the menu- and it might even be WING NIGHT and they may be out of wings- all day. That isn't unusual. Service can be a hit or a miss but usually good. They offer a full bar with adequate options and a better than average beer selection. It does sometimes get busy there- and when that happens - the parking lot is a train-wreck. People park willy-nilly and Ive been jAmmed up there a while until someone moved their car. This is definitely my place when i want wings and fried pickles (provided they have them). And the not often order peanut butter burger- is really good. read more

If I could give this establishment negative stars, I would. We ordered online. We were given a 15 minute wait time. We get there and the food is not done. We waited 35 more minutes for the "waitress" to tell us ten more minutes. 20 minutes later we are told they don't have sweet potato fries...10 more minutes. What in the actual!?!?!? Finally, we get the food almost an hour and a half after we ordered(on a Sunday...I would hate to see the wait times Friday or Saturday). In the entire time we waited the waitress only worked about 10 minutes. Instead, she muttered crappy things about people having to wait, texting on her phone and chitchatting with her friends at a table about how her friends use strap-ons(WTH). There were kids coming in and out. Her personal hygiene also left A LOT of room for improvement. Soap and water and clean clothes are the bare minimum she could do before going to work. Super inappropriate workplace or general public behavior. Her time would have been better spent helping in the kitchen or cleaning. We asked the waitress about the website giving incorrect wait times and she said the owner controls that(so it's purposefully misleading). We ordered southwest egg rolls, boneless wings, sweet potato fries, and fried pickles. Why on earth would they keep telling us ten minutes? I felt like refusing the food once it was done because I was so annoyed. They continued to LIE about when our food would be done SEVERAL TIMES while we were in the restaurant. The place looks nothing like the photos online or I never would have ordered in the first place. What a dump. Looks similar to a run down single wide "manufactured home". I would be incredibly embarrassed to own or work at this establishment. Shame on JJ's Sideout Bar and Grill. Great experience here. I ordered the green olive burger. It took a long time... like about 30 minutes. But it was really worth it. You can tell they have a lot of pride about their quality here. And they put the olives underneath the melted cheese, which I've never had before and liked it a lot. Potato wedges were great too. read more

We used to come here every other week. However, lately, the quality of the food has gone downhill. A year ago this would have been a five-star rating, now sadly we won't be going back. You can get an accurate idea of how well the kitchen is running if the restrooms are clean and in working order. Last week the ladies' room was filthy and no door on one of the stalls. That is about accurate as to the way the food came out, overly salted and overcooked. This was once the best place to get Prime Rib, sadly they no longer serve Prime Rib. read more

The owner and his gf can get drunk 24/7 while they're there, then scream and yell at each other constantly too. No wonder they are getting sued rn. We had a 1/4 pounder and a pizza burger. They were ok, but nothing to write home about. BUT.... we ordered appetizers that were awesome! Cauliflower, mushrooms, green beans, & broccoli & cheese all perfectly fried up & came with dips. We ate every last piece & it was a huge to go box. Fries were good. We tried to order a chicken sandwich, but were told they were out of chicken, so maybe next time we can get one. I would go here for the appetizers alone....they were that good. read more

A hidden gem with great food, a good beer selection, friendly staff, and some unique offerings.

Out of staters look for a cheap dinner in a small town. I could tell by the bar and menu that the place is more meant for adults, but it did say kids were welcome. The menu has a good variety of entrees as well as appetizers so we us a hard time deciding. We had great service, and were excited about the great prices compared to what we are used to. The kids food came quickly, and while they did eat it, they weren't impressed. (At least they ate it!!) Our food took a little longer than I'd have liked but it tasted well and portions were good. I've heard great things about the Volleyball in the summer. I came here on a Monday night (in the fall) and had the burger special. So good! Tastes like a handmade fresh patty and a good price too. Ordered: loaded Nachos, the olive burger and fries, the side out burger and coleslaw. We were greeted immediately on our Sunday lunch visit. My mix drink was very well made and perfectly strong enough. There was only one gal working and one cook. While this was our first visit I did gather that this happens often and they are typically busy enough it would warrant one more person at least. I know it did on our visit. The order was well made and correct. It was all VERY good. We were checked on despite the waitress needing to take care of so many. She did above average given the situation. This is an amazing hole in the wall bar and grill! The Bacon, Mac and Cheese Burger is a juicy delicacy! We also had Mac and cheese bites that were also delicious. I can't speak to the other food yet. A wide selection of craft beer in the bottle, beer on tap and plenty of choices in liquor. This isn't a place you go to if you're looking for a romantic evening. This is a laid back atmosphere with friendly staff. They have Bingo on Monday, Trivia on Wednesday and bands in the weekend. Don't forget the beach volleyball in back! They also have a dart board, pool table and a crack game machine at the bar. I rated this spot, off the main road, as 5 stars as I was really impressed. It's close to the lake too! My husband and I have been coming to JJ's for over 3 years. They have excellent pub food that goes beyond the norm. Their burgers are amazing. Going beyond basics, their daily specials and all you can eat fish fry are fresh, delicious, and very well priced! This bar and grill has a large outdoor area in the back that is kid and dog friendly. If you sit outdoors, you will need to check inside for your drinks as JJ's can become quite busy at times. They also have an outdoor front deck and 3 pick IV tables that can hold up to 6 ppl. The indoor area has a restaurant style set up that is good for families. The draft beer selection is limited; however, they do keep a couple of local craft brews on tap. The bottled/canned beer selection is large (dozens and dozens!). Live music and bands are playing most Saturdays, as well as other days. Call or check for schedule. We enjoy talking to the friendly staff. JJ's is a laid back bar and grill with plenty of local flavor. read more

We had great meals here at JJ's this evening. We both had burgers and they were very good, juicy wonderful flavor cooked just right. We had the pizza fries were so good, fries and potato wedges were crisp but not hard. My salad was very fresh, very delicious. Service was wonderful, we will definitely go back. read more

Joan and I went to JJ's this afternoon and tried their JJ's cheeseburger. Steve, our server made the burgers and they are probably one of the best burgers in La Porte.
