As I write this (July 2024), the cost per vehicle is $25 for the public portion of the beach. I'm only familiar with this public portion of the beach, but it's a mixture of rocky sections and sandy sections mixed together. It was pretty busy when I was there, so I didn't want to make anyone feel uncomfortable by snapping pictures. I did capture a picture of the walk up over the sand dune, as well as some pictures from the awesome wooden bridge that leads to the entrance. There's an old-fashioned snack bar/ seafood joint near the parking lot entrance. Bonus: Very close by is Island Creek Oysters!

Water is pretty dirty here & sand... not great. The sand has lots of rocks but I mean I have brought a towel and tanned here before, so it's fine. Just wouldn't recommend going in the water. It's great place to just stop by and watch the sunset or grab some nice food from Tony's or the Clam Box. Also need to take extreme caution when parking and leaving several accidents have occurred here and I have seen many fender benders and people not using the CROSS WALK! There's some gravelly sand (not much) soft enough to sunbath high on the beach and if you walk about 1000' feet to the right toward White Cliffs you'll be on the backside of the marsh Eric mentioned and depending on the tide can walk across (take off your shoes) to a sandy section, look for sea creatures, crabs, et. Along the way there is a section of beach grass that is roped off for nesting plovers - you'll see 'em darting all around the grass. If you visit in late summer to late fall watch for the seals sunning themselves (no that's not me dispite the whiskers). Watch yourself on those stairs Eric mentioned - they look like something out of a Dr Seuss book! speaking of which this is a great place for kids to learn - all kid of sea life, washed up lobster traps, etc. Finally and very important - no lifeguards.

I see visitors of all ages, from families with very young children to octogenarians; there are joggers and bikers, and lots of people with their dogs.
