As I write this (July 2024), the cost per vehicle is $25 for the public portion of the beach. I'm only familiar with this public portion of the beach, but it's a mixture of rocky sections and sandy sections mixed together. It was pretty busy when I was there, so I didn't want to make anyone feel uncomfortable by snapping pictures. I did capture a picture of the walk up over the sand dune, as well as some pictures from the awesome wooden bridge that leads to the entrance. There's an old-fashioned snack bar/ seafood joint near the parking lot entrance. Bonus: Very close by is Island Creek Oysters!

Water is pretty dirty here & sand... not great. The sand has lots of rocks but I mean I have brought a towel and tanned here before, so it's fine. Just wouldn't recommend going in the water. It's great place to just stop by and watch the sunset or grab some nice food from Tony's or the Clam Box. If you live nearby, it's a great 2 mile jogging route ;) Parking: Plenty of parking! & free too!

Drank way too much bubble tea on the way down and had horrific flashbacks of beach restrooms past but found these facilities to be clean and amazingly well kept. The water was shallow and warm for a long swim! Soft soft sand, friendly beach goers and 2 parked ice cream trucks nearby = happy happy me. Now I understand the etymology of the word 'gull-less'. Freakin' seagulls walked right up to our bags and stole our snacks. Next time I bring my air rifle. Bring it on you food snatching pea brains!

Great ocean views and a couple nice overlook areas with one picnic bench mid way through the trail. No dogs allowed during peak summer season and signs are posted. The trails are mostly packed sand with a good amount of leaf accumulation making it a bit slippery on the wet day we visited.

Way worth the visit on the other side of great blue hill from the highway you walk through the golf course to the pond and a wide trail circles the whole pond. It is a 4 mile loop. The trail was really muddy when we went (November) and we didn't make it all the way around but I look forward to going again, next time we will wear hiking boots instead of sneakers. The walk through the golf course is pretty nice too the paved road for golf carts is lined in gorgeous big old maples.

There's a tiny little spot you can park right before the head of the trail but only enough for a few cars. I guess if you came and it was full you could park down the street. There is a pretty big lot there that usually has quite a few spots open. You'd have to walk a bit to the trail though. Great trail around Ponkapoag pond. My Fit bit says it was a little over 11,000 steps. Most trails are marked good. There are maps posted every so often and most have an arrow that point "you are here". I would suggest to bring a map although at the place where I started from the box holding the Maps was empty so I just took a picture of the one posted. Definitely bring bug spray! This place is loaded with bugs. I was pretty bitten up at the end of my walk. I stayed on the main trail but there were lots of small trails to go off on. I was pretty disappointed to see signage that said no bikes allowed on a lot of them though. That's a real bummer for me and my beloved mountain bike. Saw lots of beautiful birds and butterflies. Luckily I didn't run into any coyotes but just be aware that they are around. 3.5 stars.

Peppered between are beautiful, peaceful houses. Come on a Saturday afternoon and you'll see a team of sailboats out. Mornings, afternoons, and evenings are nothing short of delightful at Lake Massapoag. We caught 8 fish in one morning of fishing on the north side (bass and sunfish) and only one during an evening of fishing on the south side. Whatever the case, it's a beautiful place to spend some time.

Lake Massapoag is a wonderful natural feature in Sharon Massachusetts. A 353 acre body of water…read morewith boating, swimming and fishing. The size-able parking area and bandstand serve as a great location for Independence Day festivities for the community with an old time carnival atmosphere which continues for hours leading up to the fireworks. In past times there was a railroad not far that brought Boston's movers and shakers to the lake for summer recreation. Some of the buildings from that time remain, at least partially, such as the present day senior center. Lake Massapoag is the headwater of Canoe River as well as Massapoag Brook. The Canoe River leads to Taunton River and eventually to Narragansett Bay. Massapoag Brook flows to the Neponset River which empties into Dorchester Bay. One of the more interesting wildlife facts about Lake Massapoag is that there is a species of eel which migrates up the Atlantic coast and all the way to Lake Massapoag, moving overland nocturnally during rainy nights.

Places for a walk are always appreciated, though with this Park it's important to manage your…read moreexpectations. In my case, they were pretty much met. The park is fairly small, running from the south side of the bridge (by the power plant), ducking under the bridge on the Weymouth side, and then along King's Cove. Around the park, you have the power plant on one side, Fore River Bridge above, and Twin Rivers plant, pumping station, and now compressor station on the other side. There are also some information cards about the history of the power plant that stood where the Constellation plant now stands. Limited (but free!) parking is available! The industrial elements won't interfere with a walk, they're just there. Furthermore, the part of the park running along the cove is actually fairly quiet, and has some benches and metal picnic tables set up. Park was very clean too! There is a slightly dusty section bordering where the compressor station is going up, though this is small (and I assume temporary).
