The Peet's Coffee is a gem inside PKWY Tavern! Best coffee ever! I've had lunch there, too, and the cheeseburgers are terrific!

Time for that afternoon coffee pick me up after attending a cooking class at La Strega across the…read morestreet. I actually did consider leaving my car at La Strega and walking over to Better Days, but it was just too hot and muggy to do so. I'm no stranger to Summerlin, with the occasional visit here and there, but I've never seen or heard of this place. This is a cute little hole in the wall coffee shop just off the 215 freeway at Town Center in Summerlin. They had their March menu on display in the very front, and my eye immediately caught their Lucky Charms Matcha Latte. I don't eat cereal at all, but I was interested in this drink and asked for the basics on it. This latte has made from scratch Irish cream syrup, your choice of milk, marshmallow cloud, and topped with Lucky Charms marshmallows, but without the crunchy cereal part. This drink tasted like and had the texture exactly like St. Patrick's Day. It was amazing! March is almost over, so catch this drink and all their other March drinks on hand when you still can. Their other March drink they have available is called Luck of the Irish Latte. It has similar ingredients to the Lucky Charms Matcha Latte, only it has espresso and no Lucky Charms marshmallows on top. If you're ever in Summerlin, come check out Better Days. Yes, they are a hidden gem, but they have great drinks, seasonal and year long.

As someone who makes it a point to seek out all the French bakeries in every city I visit, from…read moreacross the US to the heart of France, I don't say this lightly: Café Breizh has the best croissant I have had in the United States. The Traditional Croissant: This is a masterclass in lamination. The exterior has that perfect, shattering crispness, while the interior is airy, buttery, and boasts a beautiful honeycomb structure. It rivals anything I've found in Paris. If you are a purist, this is your destination. The croissant really stands on its own, no need for a coffee because it is not dry at all, no need for Nutella or jam. Excellent. The Pain au Chocolat: Interestingly, while the dough itself remains world-class, the execution of the Pain au Chocolat (the proper name for the chocolate croissant) didn't quite reach the same heights. The chocolate distribution was unfortunately wonky, with the batons poorly placed within the pastry. It felt like a bit of a disservice to such high-quality dough, as you didn't get that perfect balance of chocolate and flake in every bite. Despite the chocolate distribution issue, the technical skill behind their pastry work is undeniable. The service is also wonderful, keeping that authentic café feel alive on the West Side. Breizh means Britanny in the local dialect. It happens to be Crepe country. Try their buckwheat "galette", you won't be disappointed.
