One of my new favorites! How is it that I just found out about Peeps Kitchen just now!? First off, let me just say no matter what fried chicken you choose, it will all be so tender and juicy, there is no bad fried chicken here. I personally go for the thrilling padak with the fried-crunchy-for-days chicken breast with dijon mustard-soy on the side and julienned scallions is my favorite. If getting this to go, the pro tip would be to put the fried chicken in a bowl when you get home and pour the sauce over it and mix well. Top with the sprinkled julienned scallions for a perfect padak. The Gang Jeong version with the house sauce is also a favorite. This sweet and spicy topped with sesame seed and almonds is a great contrast to the original. I have yet to try their chicken burger but it's on my list to try soon! There is no onsite seating but this fried chicken won't get soggy so not to worry. Get your hands dirty at home! Finally the owners are just beautiful people serving up fantastic delicious food with a smile on their face every time I walk in no matter how back breaking it is to run a business as a small mom and pop in the world today. Give these lovely people a smile and a break when you walk in and wait outside if possible because it's tight inside. Order ahead and wait patiently, great food is worth the wait!

My friend had been raving about this place for a long time and I finally tried it. Unfortunately I was underwhelmed. I had higher expectations and was let down. Not that I didn't enjoy it. In facts I only have one complaint and I'll admit it's more of a preference issue. I got the gang jeong chicken which I was told was their specialty. Well, it wasn't for me. It wasn't gross or anything. It tasted fine in fact, just didn't do anything for me personally. I normally prefer spicy and more bold flavors. I actually do have a sweet tooth. Unfortunately this sauce really just did nothing for me. It barely had flavor for me and the sweetness wasn't much. Again, this could be a personal problem. As for the chicken itself, it was good. Decently crispy and fresh. It was good chicken. Peeps in my opinion isn't one of the best Korean fried chicken spots in the city. I've had others that I felt were better. So much so that I'm surprised at the rating this has on here. It's good chicken, nothing more, nothing less. I think different sauces could elevate it. I'm open to coming again.

Good portion- got two regular sizes as a delivery order. enough for two people to eat it as a meal twice. Overall good food- (1) peeps gang jeong is a bit too sweet to me as a standalone dish. Personally would have appreciated a slight spicy kick. (2) peeps padak has a good crunch and pairs really well with the scallion. I would consider ordering again. Tteok Kkochi was all right. My companion really liked it. Fair to try once at least. Thought it was a bit pricey at first but its a relatively large in size so made sense for NYC.

We got this delivered because our friends recommended this place very strongly!! We got medium size chicken thigh (6pcs of big thighs) and Gang Jeong Box. The chicken was crispy and delicious. And the sauces were delicious, too. I was just expecting more punch and oomph to the flavor, but some of the sauces were difficult to tell what the MAIN PUNCH flavor was. Loved the box deal but kimchi, too, I feel like could've had more flavors too it. The chicken were great but I feel that the flavoring could've been more bold!!

My favorite Korean fried chicken in all of NYC. First off, Peeps Kitchen is run by the sweetest couple ever. They are the friendliest, warmest people you'll ever meet. You can really tell that their food is a labor of love, and you'll taste it in every bite! Like all the other reviews mention, there's no seating, so make sure to call ahead of time. They also don't start serving chicken until dinner, so plan accordingly. For lunch, they exclusively serve bento boxes (I have yet to try them, but it's definitely on my list). Now to the chicken--the glorious crunchy chicken that is Peeps. The crunch is just absolutely insane. If you get sauce, definitely ask for it on the side so that your chicken doesn't get soggy. After the crunch comes the tender, juicy insides, so fresh and delicious. The texture of their chicken is an experience in and of itself. Their soy garlic sauce is perfection, and if you want a little bit of a kick, they have a couple of spicy options. You also MUST get their tteok kkochi (fried rice cake w/sausage skewers). The texture of the rice cakes is incredible. Crispy around the edges but super chewy and soft on the inside. The sausage is also always grilled perfectly, and the spicy sauce that comes on top is delectable. It's also a perfect snack to eat on the go! Peeps is just THE place for Korean fried chicken.

I came once and that was all I needed! But I was def back for more it's worth the walk too. The food stays crispy and it's bursting with flavor. ESP with their option to choose 2 sauces on the side. Their gang jeong chicken is fried perfectly and topped with sauce or they have wings without sauce. I had their beef dumplings , banging The food prep takes a min like 45min so call ahead! Check them out! A lovely couple in the kitchen, giving you great tasting food and so sweet in person.

This is a take out only spot. Ordered the Korean fried chicken wings with the sweet and spicy sauce. Would definitely order the wings again! Wings were crispy and sauce was good. Decided to order from this Korean mom & pop restaurant after reading other Yelp reviews. Opens late in the afternoon till as late as midnite. The couple owner were very friendly and service was great. The restaurant is takeout only. It may look large from the outside but there was hardly any room inside to wait for takeout. Best to order online for delivery or to pickup. I decided to try the popular recommended dishes. I ordered the Peeps Gang Jeong (fried boneless chicken chunks glazed with house Gang Jeong sauce), Peeps Padak (fried boneless chicken chunks with shredded scallions and house Padak sauce), and the Tteok Kkochi (grilled sausage and rice cake skewer). Food took a while to make but worth the wait. Padak had no seasoning nor taste until mixed with the sauce which made it unexpectedly very tasty. Gang Jeong was also very good with the slightly sweet glaze. The Tteok Kkochi sausages were deliciously smoky and rice cake chewy; dipped in the plum flavored sauce made them even better. Portions were large and neatly packed. Overall, an enjoyable experience.

Honestly, I like family owned restaurants but I love the ones where you can taste their love and appreciation for each other and their business in their food. And this is what peeps kitchen is. Anything I order from the menu is delicious every single time. The service is excellent; they always give extra food when the quantity is small. Knowing that they're generous people says a lot about them. They also left me a note a couple times thanking me for the order. Today was my first time picking up the order myself, and the ambiance shows hard working people with so much respect and love for each other and their food. That's the type of business where I'd like to always buy my food from. read more

This place is run by the nicest Korean family. My daughter's friend who is Korean now consistently buys their chicken every time he comes from the UES. You need to call ahead and pick up but it's a nice addition to the neighborhood and business seems to be doing well. read more

delicious fried chicken!!!! just open for takeout and delivery. we ordered on Uber Eats, took a while to get here but it was still semi warm. Wanted the full experience of it fresh out of the fryer so we air fried it again! Each piece is perfectly fried and super brined. Not too greasy or oily feeling when you're eating it or on your fingers. I totally recommend the soy garlic sauce! read more

Went with my son today , he was so excited to try KFC . The shop owners were very nice people. We ordered 18 pieces KFC and mozzarella sticks , they cautioned us the food would take a while (30 minutes) , we waited outside in the car. As promised the food took about 30 minutes, everything came out packed really . We were a shot distance from home but decided to dig in the car as the chicken smelled that yummy. Well , let me say it was one hot , sticky , yummy , absolutely delicious mess. They gave us 3 sauces, soy/garlic, hot/sweet and one more which I can't remember. Everything was very well made and delicious, very like the best KFC I've ever eaten and totally worth the wait . Enthusiastically recommend and will definitely go back read more

Delicious chicken and very friendly service! Ordered takeout in store, but in the future I would order 20-30 minutes in advance. The owners were super nice and kept us company during the wait. Chicken was still crispy by the time I got home and the sauces were all so unique and delicious. My favorite was the Peep's Padak sauce! This spot is sooo good. Little mom n pop owned small brick n mortar. Everything is made to order so it takes a bit more time but I will happily wait for amazing food made from scratch. Patience is a virtue. And this place was outstanding. If you want fast crap then go to KFC, but if you want home made amazing Korean fried chicken, go here. You won't regret it read more

One of the best fried chicken places in NYC ran by the sweetest couple! I usually call ahead for pickup since they fry their chicken fresh and it might take a while but the owner is always apologetic about the wait time and even offered us complimentary items for waiting! Ordered take out for the first time here. Excellent! You can tell the quality right away and that it's made to order. I got the Gang jeong box and vegetable fried dumplings. The dumplings have the perfect crunch and the sauce it pairs with is incredible. The gang jeong chicken is such a good taste, combined with the rice, kimchi and salad it's such a good combo. The salad dressing even was insanely good. Not to mention the service when I placed my order and picked it up was lovely- they make you feel happy to be a customer! Will be back for sure read more

I wish I could give this place 7 stars. Best fried chicken I've ever had. The kindest and friendliest restaurant owners. Peeps kitchen should be protected at all costs. Just a heads up, your delivery order will take some time to arrive, BUT that's because you are getting perfectly made to order fried chicken. If I could rate this place 10 stars, I would. If I could rate it a million stars, I would. This place has the best chicken in the world. I say that whole heartedly. I've never been so captivated by a sandwich like I was the Chicken Burger. It's incredible. The people working (I believe maybe the owners) are so kind! Great Korean fried chicken! Also, they aren't messing around with their spice. I always like to order the spiciest sauce at the local Korean fried chicken spots and usually they disappoint but I actually couldn't handle the hot sauce here, it was that spicy (bonus points for that). All in all great food and timely preparation, will definitely order again. read more

Unacceptable service. Ordered on ChowNow where it said 15-25 min estimate. Showed up 40 min later and the owner said "we were just about to start cooking your food. We need another 20-30 minutes". I asked politely for them to cancel as I had somewhere to be and she acted like she was unable to do so because the order "was already confirmed" when there was clearly a (Full Refund) button on her tablet. I even went out of my way and offered to replace the same order on UberEats or another platform if she could cancel my takeout order. Before leaving, I asked her nicely to "please just try to cancel my order if you can" and she offhandedly said "ok" and so I left. Later was forced to contact ChowNow which contacted Peeps kitchen and then the owner denied my refund even though they never even made my food to begin with. I went out of my way to be respectful and accommodating to them and ended up being robbed of $100 and not even offered a partial refund or credit. read more

WOW! the food here was the best! I lived in South Korea for a few years and fell in love with its food - and this was like being back in Seoul! The owners were so sweet, and we had an amazing conversation about various places around Seoul. They cook everything fresh and it all tastes amazing. The chicken is so crispy, the pork is well seasoned, sotteok is bomb and the mandu is robust with flavour! Love the sauces on the side as well. Don't hessite to eat here, it's incredible!!!! Insane portion size !!!!! I got the "regular" or whatever was like $18 and it's enough food to feed a family of four lol. It's delicious as well. The spicy sauce is actually spicy which is nice. Great stuff. read more

They have the best korean fried chicken in NYC. Easily better than Pelicana or anything in K town. The only downside is that they have no dining in restaurant, and the food takes a while to prepare. Which usually means ordering delivery and waiting an hour and a half for food. read more

I'm grateful to have an amazing fried chicken joint so close to home. The gang jeong chicken is incredible as are their fried pieces. They de-bone the thighs for you which is such a luxury. Bonus: The owners are a Korean husband and wife team who are too sweet for words; not some white tattooed, bearded hipster imposters. Oh, and their sweet and spicy bbq sauce may be the best bbq sauce I've ever tasted. Not even the wife knows the recipe. read more

Absolutely incredible fried chicken. Very fresh, crispy, hot, full of flavor!! I definitely recommend getting the additional sauces as they are amazing. I've ordered delivery from this restaurant yesterday. When it arrived, the fried chicken was still warm and crispy. The chicken was delicious but the stars were the sauces. I really liked sweet&chili and garlic soy. One downfall was that my sweet potato fries didn't come with my order, and instead there was an extra box of fried chicken. I didn't mind that much, and just let them know if they have given someone two boxes of fries Hopefully it won't happen again, so I could try their fries as well (: read more

We've been craving Korean style fried chicken lately. Based on other reviews, we decided to try out Peeps tonight. We ordered the regular Peeps Gang Jeong (boneless stir fry glazed chicken) and the 3 thigh (6 pcs) fried chicken with two sauces and the sweet potato fries! There was some pink sweet radish as well. The portions were very generous. Everything was amazing and we'll definitely be returning. They just opened in October and the owners were so welcoming and lovely. I hope many others go there to support this newcomer in the neighborhood. read more

Those who know me know that I can't live without rice and would eat it with almost any meal, including fried chicken, so I did request it on the side, although the wings don't come with it. The man who took my order did me a solid and served it with mine, anyway. Good lad! I've been wanting to try Vietnamese coffee for a while now, and it was everything I imagined it would be. Sweet with a bitter backend - but not too bitter! I'm still new to coffee, and I pucker up at anything too intense. This was just right. My meal at Joju satisfied me, mind, body, and soul. I ordered the La Summer sandwich and added pesto. After sitting down and taking my first bite, I immediately understood the hype. Without a doubt, this is one of the best sandwiches I've had in a very long time. I'm not even a huge sandwich person when it comes to subs and deli meats, but everything tasted incredibly fresh. The ingredients paired together perfectly, and you could still taste each one individually. The only thing I'd change next time is the meat. I had no idea prosciutto was a type of ham, but honestly, it didn't even taste like ham to me. It was sliced paper-thin, slightly salty, and worked surprisingly well with everything else. Next time, though, I'll probably add salami just to see how it compares. Overall, this sandwich was a solid 10/10, and I will absolutely be back--whether it's to try a different sandwich or, if we're being honest, order the exact same one again with salami added. I will say it's on the expensive side, but that's New York City for you. Apparently, all of the ingredients are flown in from Italy. After tax and tip, I paid a whopping $28 for a single sandwich. The individuals I support are on limited incomes and cannot afford meals from establishments such as yours, so they bring their own lunches while staff members purchase food and beverages from your business. A manager approached us and informed us that outside food was not permitted, even though purchases had been made. We were then asked to leave and eat outside in the hot weather. I understand that businesses have policies regarding outside food, and I respect the need to enforce them. However, I believe this situation could have been handled with greater compassion and understanding, given that the group consisted of individuals with disabilities who rely on packed lunches due to financial limitations. As someone who has consistently supported your establishment, I was disappointed by the lack of flexibility and empathy shown. Unfortunately, because of this experience, I will no longer be bringing my business or the individuals I support to your establishment. I hope this feedback encourages your management team to consider a more accommodating approach when serving members of the disability community in the future.
