I was told if my daughter…read morewas going to opt for a composite filling on her two cavities she would most definitely need anesthesia. I have the anesthesia paperwork and it's about $2400 because downtime and whatever excuse to charge more money., so no it will never be 1600. A composite filling takes time so therefore nitrous oxide is a no go since she can wake up and freak out. They could not confirm any more than the two cavities since they were not able to get the pictures, however, they didn't mention some invisible cavity being a problem. I am very neurotic taking care of my daughter's teeth and have close-up pictures. It's pretty impressive how clean they are. Now the father gives me the quote from the Dental company and the Whole dental visit will end up costing about 4500 since it's 2000 for the dental work/not general anesthesia. so my daughter would've undergone anesthesia and walked out with five stainless steel crowns in her mouth. Oh, I was very clear. I absolutely don't give consent to crowns. They also wanted to add ceiling on top of the tooth that they were going to crown. I can't see how that's necessary but, OK let's make the quote higher and add in. stainless steel crowns are very fast for procedure so there was absolutely no reason to suggest that over composite filling. Something is truly corrupt and more people need to speak up about this child abuse. Thank God, my gut told me to look further into it. One woman was not as lucky and had the same exact quote, expected child's teeth to be filled to daughter being gone for three hours and walking out with a metal mouth. These people need to be stopped. I am so sorry for her. I need to warn everyone.

Dr. Lasser proceeded to put the blame on my daughter that the filling fell out and made her cry in the office. While crying, he had no compassion for her and continued the oral examination as if she was completely fine!! COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE!! ...give her a minute to get composed! . And to make matters worse, they can't accommodate her to have the filling redone for months. My husband asked if they could fit her in soon to have it redone with her regular dentist and Dr Lasser started yammering about how busy they were because they were one of the only practices that still took dental dental.... totally off topic !!!! ( while my daughter is still crying btw!) We have had an issue before with Dr. Lasser and his rudeness years ago, it's time for him to retire if he can't have compassion and respect for his patients .... It gives the rest of the employees in his office a very bad look !!! if booking an appointment with this office, I would be avoid him as a dentist at all cost!

He ended up with tons of cavities and one of the teeth is decaying so this year (2021) we made appointments for the regular cleaning with his dentist, after the visit we were recommended to this place Greater Boston Smile Pediatric for his his tooth decay. We did come for consultation and after a few months we can get his teeth straighten out (one is taken out and the other 8 is crowned for his own good). We're so worried to see to see him going through the whole process because he had to take the med for the procedure and he wasn't himself til it wears out (a good 3-4 hours later). He had early appointment and left around noon. He's back to normal around 5pm and we're pleased with the results. The doctor even called around 8pm to check on him and thanks for trusting him to have my boy in his hands. Then staffs are very helpful. You can't find any place like this. Highly recommended! And Thank you Dr. Shaughnessy and all staff members!

After we were seated, forty minutes after our appointment time, an assistant asked whether nitrous oxide would be used, which I declined. The dentist then entered the room without washing her hands and did not introduce herself or confirm my son's identity. She did not explain that she intended to proceed with an extraction. She briefly referenced a "bite block" without clarifying the nature of the procedure. Without obtaining informed consent, the dentist administered Novocaine and exited the room, again without washing her hands. After the injection, an assistant presented an iPad for consent. I asked what I was being asked to sign and was told to "read the iPad." The dentist then returned and extracted the tooth. Post-procedure instructions were provided only after the extraction was completed. At no point prior to Novocaine administration or extraction was informed consent obtained. Additionally, I observed a lack of hand hygiene upon entry and exit, which was concerning as the dentist continued to see other patients. I raised these concerns during the visit. My feedback was dismissed and met with explanations rather than acknowledgment.

They always make sure to thoroughly explain everything, in a way that we can understand and will spend as much time as I need answering my questions. My four year old is never an easy patient and usually has to be held down for a cleaning and exam. The team is always so encouraging to us all through this, as well as patient and sweet and calm with her. We met Elana today for the first time and she was amazing with her! She was so patient and knew exactly what to do and say to put her at ease. My daughter smiled the whole time and told me after "the dentist is so fun and not scary anymore!" My husband and I were shocked that she did so well! While we never intended to travel 45 minutes for a dentist appointment we are so glad to have ended up at this office. I cannot recommend them enough!!

**Disappointing Experience**…read more I was very disappointed with our experience at this dental office. They claim to treat children, but unfortunately, I did not feel that they had the patience or understanding necessary to properly care for a child with autism. What was even more frustrating was the communication between the offices. It took almost a full year for them to send my son's dental records/report to his new dentist. This caused unnecessary stress and made the transition to a new dental provider much more difficult. I expected a dental office that treats children to be patient, compassionate, and understanding of each child's individual needs. Unfortunately, that was not our experience, and I would not recommend this office to families looking for a provider who is truly prepared to work with children with special needs.
