My dentist just moved here from Pawtucket, taking the hygienists and staff with her. I had been…read morewith them for years, so the commute to Providence is well worth it. Today was my first cleaning and as always, everything went great. Easy street parking and a dunks across the street. Just a few minutes off 95, exit 38.

When I moved to RI, I found Capitol Hill Dental on Smith Street in Providence, RI through my…read moreinsurance. The office was conveniently located and walkable distance from my apartment. There is also a small parking lot in the back. When I enter the building, I go downstairs for general dentistry. There is a small waiting room with a few chairs and the hygienist will bring you back to the room when ready. I never had to wait more than 5-10 minutes before meeting the hygienist. From February 2022 to September 2024, I went to Capitol Hill Dental for all my dental visits mostly for just cleaning and exams. The front desk staff and hygienist were always very friendly and we had great conversations. My teeth came out clean and were healthy. During my visit in September 2024, the staff informed me that next month Corporate has moved the general dentistry dentist and hygienist to another office and this location was going to be closed. They offered me to make my next appointment in that other office in Johnston or Scituate or to change dental offices. I decided to look for another dentist office in Providence since it is more convenient.

I went to Dr. Barr when I moved to Providence many years ago because he was close to home and work,…read moreand just stayed because I never had a reason to leave. and everyone was friendly and competent. Over the years I came to appreciate that reliability, and Dr. Barr was always a great professional. I should have written a five-star review a long time ago, not that the office would have needed it. The practice was sold recently to someone called Katherine Burton, who I've never seen. I have seen one of the other Dentists there, who is young and eager and seems knowledgeable. I do find the bedside manner not quite filling Dr. Barr's shoes, although I suppose that's something that comes with time. Other things have changed, too: the front desk staff, who I always liked, and I've had to trundle out to the other office in North Prov a few times because they couldn't reschedule me on South Main. None of which is a deal-killer, and I guess if I walked in the door today I wouldn't think much of it, but, I don't know, it's just the way my trust in the practice has been lowered just a bit that feels uncomfortable, somehow.

First time patient. Super fine experience. Great COVID protections in place. Friendly. Christina,…read morethe hygienist was thorough and painless. Dr. Barr was professional. Very friendly and unrushed. Could not have gone smoother. On the plus side, I still had all the teeth I came in with when I left only cleaner! Geoffrey K.

I've been to several dentists before, ranging on the spectrum of great to having to get their work…read moreredone. Dr. Karkalas is very skilled particularly my experience of cosmetic denstistry. She had to match one of my two front teeth veneers, which side by side can see any variation. Very difficult. She did it perfectly. My other experience is having to go through implants, along with orthodontics, and coordinating a while plan sequence. She enthusiastically made the plan and triaged with the other Dr's. My experience with her office is that they are very engaging, know their business, and actually a very positive experience on every visit and call. I recommend Dr. Karkalas for those that expect a higher standard of results.

If you live in Providence, I would strongly recommend against this dentist. I just moved to…read moreProvidence and randomly selected a dentist nearby to fix the cavity. After the X-rays being aken, I was told that I have quite a few. However, she firstly spent around 15 minutes trying to sell me the "teeth whitening". Then, she told me that I need to do root planning and root scaling first. After that, I will need the crown and onlay for my cavity(which will cost around 1500 for each tooth). I did the root planning and scaling there and the hygienist Kelly was nice and responsible. If not for her, I would even give 0 star for this place. I then decided to check with other dentist as I personally thought my cavity was not that severe to need crowns or onlay. The other dentist I saw examined and told me that these cavities need to be filled and crown and onlay were not that necessary. In all, this place did not put patients need first. All they want is taking advantage of the patients and make money from them. Maybe I am quite subjective in writing this review but this is my experience.
