The receptionist was very rude & acted like I was bothering her. Every time the phone rang she complained quite loudly that she was the "ONLY" person working (despite about 5 other ladies behind her). She kept questioning me over and over again about what procedures I needed. When I repeated what my dentist had told me I needed, she called my dentist's office to confirm. I suggested that I assumed the Endodontist would also exam my situation and either confirm what the dentist had said or suggest something else, she pretty much bit my head off saying there was only one Endodontist on duty and he didn't have time for that. I either knew what I wanted or didn't. She told me that the next available appt was a week out and if I didn't like the day/time then it would be over a month's wait. I took the appointment but left feeling so awful. I was already in so much pain and then to be treated like that on top of it just made everything worse. I tried calling Ocean State to cancel my original appt - no one would answer the phone. I reached out through their website's "contact us" and simply got an email saying "Your all set and canceled appt." Honestly, if they are that busy that a little bit of kindness isn't offered and I couldn't depend on the doctor taking doing some due diligence to confirm the treatment plan...then I felt like I would have been in & out like on a factory conveyor belt and probably worse off afterwards. I called my dentist for a different referral and then called RI Endodontics in Warwick. I was treated so kindly on the phone. The receptionist was so compassionate and got me in the next business day. I was treated so kind and gently. I felt genuinely cared for.

I've seen two hygienists and would return happily to either of them. They do a thorough clean and always make sure I'm up to date on X-rays. Terrible terrible office. I feel like I was scammed…read more This office is scammy and rude. I had a cleaning and full exam in the previous city I lived (Tampa) in June, which I shared. I was told that the office here likes to do their own X-Rays for new patients, which we did, and I assumed it would be billed as something other than standard annual X-Rays. They didn't think to tell me I was going to have to pay entirely out of pocket for them, or that they hadn't yet received the X-Rays from my prior office, despite me filling out a form that asked for my last cleaning and me mentioning while in the exam chair about when I had X-Rays done in June. I saw earlier this month that I was charged $100 because insurance of course only covers one standard annual X-ray per year. When I spoke to whoever answered the phone, they hadn't received the EOB from Cigna yet so I called back a few weeks later and the woman was incredibly rude and unhelpful. She kept repeating herself over and over. As a side note: the fluoride treatment is somewhere around $60 and takes 15 seconds. Everywhere else I've been has been around $20. Place feels like one big scam.

So it was time for me to go back because I knew I needed a dental cleaning. I asked a coworker who she went to and she recommended Dr. Matrullo. I booked an appointment and I was pleasantly surprised that they are literally 1 mile from my home. Walking into the office I found it very visually beautiful. Upon check-in I did the necessary paperwork and after that I was greeted by a wonderful hygienist named Tara. She took X-rays and then started to gently scrape my teeth. She always asked if I felt any pai, which I didn't. Once the cleaning was done, the younger son, Dr. Matrullo came in to asses my fillings to make sure they were all intact. He asked if I had any concerns and I said yes, I don't like the overcrowding of my teeth since I had braces years ago. He recommended an orthodontist who specializes in Invisalign. Overall this is by far the most wonderful experience I've ever endured regarding dentistry. The customer service is Top Notch, the dentist was very knowledgeable and kind. This is my new dentist going forward. Ask for Tara to clean your teeth, she's Amaaazing!

When I moved to RI, I found Capitol Hill Dental on Smith Street in Providence, RI through my…read moreinsurance. The office was conveniently located and walkable distance from my apartment. There is also a small parking lot in the back. When I enter the building, I go downstairs for general dentistry. There is a small waiting room with a few chairs and the hygienist will bring you back to the room when ready. I never had to wait more than 5-10 minutes before meeting the hygienist. From February 2022 to September 2024, I went to Capitol Hill Dental for all my dental visits mostly for just cleaning and exams. The front desk staff and hygienist were always very friendly and we had great conversations. My teeth came out clean and were healthy. During my visit in September 2024, the staff informed me that next month Corporate has moved the general dentistry dentist and hygienist to another office and this location was going to be closed. They offered me to make my next appointment in that other office in Johnston or Scituate or to change dental offices. I decided to look for another dentist office in Providence since it is more convenient.

Unfortunately, while they do complete the paperwork with insurance companies, they are not "providers" with any insurance companies and therefore don't accept what the insurance companies allow. This leaves the patient to pick up the balance of what the insurance won't cover. Now that my husband and I are retired and will be living on a fixed income, we thought it best to switch to a "provider' dentist who accepts the payment the insurance company allows. As I said, love the practice, but can no longer afford to pay for services that are fully covered somewhere else. I give the Rawlinsons four stars for this reason.
