No one really likes going to the dentist. It had been over a year for me because I found the last dental office to be rather cold regarding patient attendance. So it was time for me to go back because I knew I needed a dental cleaning. I asked a coworker who she went to and she recommended Dr. Matrullo. I booked an appointment and I was pleasantly surprised that they are literally 1 mile from my home. Walking into the office I found it very visually beautiful. Upon check-in I did the necessary paperwork and after that I was greeted by a wonderful hygienist named Tara. She took X-rays and then started to gently scrape my teeth. She always asked if I felt any pai, which I didn't. Once the cleaning was done, the younger son, Dr. Matrullo came in to asses my fillings to make sure they were all intact. He asked if I had any concerns and I said yes, I don't like the overcrowding of my teeth since I had braces years ago. He recommended an orthodontist who specializes in Invisalign. Overall this is by far the most wonderful experience I've ever endured regarding dentistry. The customer service is Top Notch, the dentist was very knowledgeable and kind. My daughter had a cleaning appointment. She is 8 and I was not allowed in with her. Understandable. She did fine being alone for the first time. When she was done, the hygentist told me there was a cavity and it was close to the nerve so the tooth needed to be pulled. Of course my 8yr old daughter was nervous. We scheduled the appointment with me asking 2 questions. 1. Can I go in With her? 2. Will this hurt her? She answered that I could go in for that and no. It would not hurt. They give the child a popsicle to numb the tooth and she won't feel a thing. We go to the appointment and I was told I could not go In with her. Not only that, they gave her no popsicle and told her " not to scream" as they put pliers in her mouth. Really!?! She's 8!!!' So... I wasn't there, no numbness and she's in pain an hour later as I write this. I am so sad for her and so upset with this office!!!! read more

Always a good experience here. They stay on schedule too, which I really appreciate. The son is my dentist and he's great at explaining things to me. I like a lot of details so that I can understand all the hows and whys of things and he totally indulges me... I have been going here for years, I have also taken my children here since they were very small. I have had to have a lot of dental work done.....not caring for my teeth when I was young!! Anyhow, I now have 7 crowns and 6 of those have been root canals. Only once was I in pain from a root canal, not done by Matrullo....but by his on site endodontist......not Matrullo's fault. Anyhow, I would recommend this office for most dental work, the endodontist needs some work, but the practice has been great aside from that! It's a new endo as well, the other one was better!! I've been going here since 2005, Dr. Matrullo and his staff are great! I used to work in the area but no longer. Went to a Dentist closer to home and they told me a crown I had done in 2016 was fractured with decay underneath and had to be replaced. I called Dr. Matrullo's office and they got me in for a free consult and Xray's. Turns out the crown is 100% fine, perfect actually! This other office is clearly trying to do unnecessary dental work on me! Read a few reviews saying they are very sales focused and only trying to get as much money out of you as possible. Crazy! So glad I went back. I don't think I'm ever leaving now! read more

I've been to so many dentists in my life and this is by far one of the best. All I require is a tv to watch during the dental work and people who know what they are doing and they meet all my requirements. I thought all dental care was similar until I received a series of defective dental work and numbing mishaps (not at this office). Since I've been going here, I've been impressed every step of the process. They have such an efficient schedule that I've never once had the dentist or hygienist late for my appointment...a miracle for medical or dental appointments! As a relatively new person to RI within the last couple years, I did what I thought was adequate research on dental offices. However, I can say I did not enough when I came to this office. Yes, They do have plenty of awards on there walls for Best Dentist, but there front desk staff needs some serious customer service training!!! They need to learn that every patient deserves respect, kindness, and decency! (Whether in person or on the phone) I will say my hygienist was excellent. She spent adequate time with me, and was very kind. The time I did see Dr. Matrullo was quite pleasant, as well. In every medical office, your front desk staff can either make or break your office. I'm really quite surprised to see that I'm the very first person to be writing a review for Dr. Paul Matrullo & Associates. I'd seen the commercials on local television advertising cosmetic surgery as well as general dentistry for several years but quite honestly, never paid any mind to it one bit. I had a dentist, my teeth were somewhat under control and I was fine with that. Since as far back as I can remember, I've had problems with my teeth. I had my first root canal when I was 12 years old. It's not that I don't take care of my teeth, I do! I brush 2 or 3 times per day, I floss every night, however; the poor teeth genes on my mother's side of the family were passed down and unfortunately, I got them. This past week I had a nasty sinus infection and bronchitis and anyone who has had a sinus infection knows this: sometimes, the sinus pressure will make it feel like you have a toothache in the top set of your teeth. Well, everything on the right side of my face was hurting me; my top and bottom teeth, my jaw, my neck my ear, etc. I contributed the pain to the sinus infection and that was that. After seeking treatment from my PCP and taking antibiotics for a few days, the pain started to disappear, except for in the bottom back section of my teeth, where I have had previous cavities filled. We're talking PAIN, lots and lots of pain. Like I was ready to take a screwdriver and start digging, pain. I had a gut feeling that something was brewing deep inside of my gums and I wanted it to be checked out, now. The night before, I had seen another of Dr. Paul Matrullo's television commercials and decided to give him a call as I hadn't been too happy with my previous dentist the past couple of times I went in to see him; I wanted somebody new. In the TV ad, it mentioned they saw emergency clients immediately (bonus points!) I called Friday morning at 11:45 and was in Friday afternoon at 1:45. After being greeted by friendly and kind receptionist #1 and filling out some forms, I was brought into the room and seated around 2:15. Dental assistant was super awesome and sweet, she was knowledgeable and friendly. An x-ray was taken right while I was seated in the chair. Dr. Paul Martrullo came in a few moments later and introduced himself. He was extremely pleasant and had a warm disposition; I was put at ease instantly. He informed me one of two things needed to happen: root canal or extraction: I opted for the extraction for personal reasons and we were off! It takes more than the normal dose of novicain to numb this mouth of mine, so about 20 minutes after my shots, Dr. Matrullo came into the room and pulled the sucker right out of my mouth. He was as gentle as he could be, given the fact that it was a molar and it was a big girl with curved roots. Dr. Matrullo explained the aftercare and set up an appointment for me to come back for a cleaning as well as to take care of a couple of other pending issues I have going on with my teeth. As I was checking out, receptionist #2 wasn't so friendly. She was short and rude, making my awesome experience turn almost sour in an instant. I wasn't offered a receipt after paying cash for the services, nor given an appointment card for my cleaning appointment in September. I would've given this place 5 stars if it hadn't been for receptionist #2 who kind of ruined the whole experience at the very end of a 5-star rating. Shame shame. I had a horrible experience here. I was all of 7 minutes late for my appointment and I called ahead of time to let them know and was told that I would have to reschedule. The staff there is rude. Horrible customer service! I took the whole day off of work for this. I will not be back. There are plenty of dentist office in Rhode Island don't waste your time here. So I've been going to these guys for years, My brother in law recommended me to them. Lackluster over the years, but what do you want from a dentist? They're well rated by RI monthly, but RI Monthly rewards those who inve$t in them. They took my insurance and they reminded me of appointments. Staff are friendly enough, but here is why I left: Torrential down pouring rain yesterday, and accidents everywhere- I called ahead to tell them I am running late, and gave them a time 15 minutes later per my GPS. I arrived literally 7 minutes later than that proposed time, well before they closed and they refused to take me. They were not understanding at all, their customer service was as cold and wet as the rain- and sadly, they lost a customer. I guess they have so many that one doesn't matter. The office woman could not find a new appointment for over 6 minutes on the phone with me... and has yet to call me back with a follow up appointment. I changed dentists. read more

I have been going there for YEARS! way back when there was also an orthodontist office onsite as well. I got my braces there, back in the days. I have no complaints, everyone is always nice, the facility itself is clean and looks great since the renovations a few years back. I guess my pearly whites speak for themselves. Dear Dr. Matrullo, Subsequent to our last visit, I was made redundant from a company, with which I was professionally engaged for 27 years, by mail. As you know Carl is Disabled. Due to a confluence of variables, we were forced into Bankruptcy. Today, when calling for help, your staff treated me as if I was an absolute pariah. Unfortunately, I was simply cast off to the ER, for an unanticipated toothache and infection. While your expertise is bar-none, I have never been treated so poorly. Dr. Matrullo is by far the best dentist I've ever had. I've had work done in the past that was poor but Dr. Matrullo has literally transformed my mouth. He is very gentle and there is barely any pain when he's doing work (even with the initial needle). His staff (esp. Jenn) is amazing and ALWAYS friendly. I drive roughly 60 minutes to go to them. My mother recently started going to him as well (also traveling about an hour) and has been extremely pleased. They are up to date on all of the newest materials and procedures. Have been a patient at this practice for years and even though I wasn't always convinced they were a 5 star operation this week put them at a point 5. I called on Saturday for a painful tooth. I was asked if it was tooth 19. Really? I don't know. Where are the numbers on them? On the back of the teeth? So I get seen and guess what? Tooth number 19 it is. Apparently it was being "watched" but no one told me. Now it needs a crown. Fine. Guess when the first available appointment isn't? SEPTEMBER 6th. Unacceptable. A 5 month wait for a crown while your in pain. Funny the ad doesn't say they treat you this way. So I have left and someone else can have my spot and wait 1 less day. read more

the receptionists always try to rush you off the phone and everytime you try to make an appointment its always hectic (u request a time or day and they say "all booked" everytime without even checking the system...this has caused me to delay appointments for months etc because i work so far in south county and leaving work can be hectic ...after my most recent appt i realized i need to change dentists because of this and am going to start going to a new dentist that can better accomodate my s hedule so that i can keep up on my teeth health better...well i called today and receptionist had so much attitude in her voice (not a very friendly attitude for customer service u could hear how annoyed she was in the tone of her voice) all because im requesting to mail the release form to my home address so that i can transfer to a new dentist? dr matrullo needs to know what is going on with his staff...thats just ridiculous...this hasnt been the 1st time this has happened to me or my family as a matter of fact (they already left this dentist because of same issues)...ive been patient with because of the care that i received from dr matrullo thank god i wont have to deal with anymore rude receptionists! read more
