I booked an appointment and I was pleasantly surprised that they are literally 1 mile from my home. Walking into the office I found it very visually beautiful. Upon check-in I did the necessary paperwork and after that I was greeted by a wonderful hygienist named Tara. She took X-rays and then started to gently scrape my teeth. She always asked if I felt any pai, which I didn't. Once the cleaning was done, the younger son, Dr. Matrullo came in to asses my fillings to make sure they were all intact. He asked if I had any concerns and I said yes, I don't like the overcrowding of my teeth since I had braces years ago. He recommended an orthodontist who specializes in Invisalign. Overall this is by far the most wonderful experience I've ever endured regarding dentistry. The customer service is Top Notch, the dentist was very knowledgeable and kind. This is my new dentist going forward. Ask for Tara to clean your teeth, she's Amaaazing!

Today I experienced the worst visit I have ever had. I got there early, 8am appointment was there at 10 of to be safe, first appointment of the day and didn't get started until quarter after because the hygienist Marissa was not ready. I felt extremely uncomfortable with both her conversation topics (complaining about their equipment and talking about their high turnover rates with hygienists) as well as the 20+ minutes of almost being drowned with a water pick while I was told to move my head and neck into extremely uncomfortable positions to make it more convenient for her and make HER more comfortable. I was so uncomfortable, was sprayed multiple times and had her entire hand resting over my eye at one point with skin contact. After 40 minutes of the appointment time she still hadn't started brushing/polishing my teeth and instead was lecturing me on flossing. Again while not actually cleaning my teeth, just sitting there. I said I had no plan to, and just wanted my cleaning done. Again this is 40 minutes in, and I do have a job of my own to get to. She struck my cheek, I am guessing in her mind it was playful, but as someone who was already EXTREMELY uncomfortable at that point it was completely unnecessary and unwarranted. I got up, said I was all set and left. I asked the woman at the front desk if there was a comment card I could complete and she said I could just tell her the problem. Like I said I have a job to get to, so I called on my way there and explained the whole situation as I am doing here. She apologized but said all she could do was make sure the next time I was with a different hygienist. Keep in mind Marissa is already the 4th one I have seen in two years so the odds of that were pretty high anyway. But since there is no other solution, or comment card for the real manager/ owner. Here is it. They would not provide MARISSA's last name, but when I find a NEW dental office, I will be sure to make sure she is not on staff there.

It's possible that individual was there and has since left. That being said, I know that Dr. Eager's name is on the business. I am a Quality Assurance professional. If any patient is unhappy with how he or she has been treated at any medical office, ask to speak to the top person. Dr. Eager goes out of her way to ensure that my visits are pain-free. I'm sorry for this gentleman's experience. We're all human, even medical professionals. Bad apples exist everywhere. If you're in pain, ask to speak with Dr. Eager. From a QA perspective, Management needs to know if employees are not meeting patients' needs. There are at least three reasons for this: 1.) The patient needs further care. 2.) There may have been other complaints against the individual. Let the business know because the more reports, the more accurate the picture is of what is going on. 3.) The office cannot take action nor respond if it doesn't know a situation exists.

Aquidneck Dental still gets a 5 star rating from me BUT Dr Ruel gets a 0 rating!…read more Disappointing Denture Relining Experience with Dr. Ruel I had a highly unsatisfactory experience with Dr. Ruel at Aquidneck Dental in Portsmouth for a hard relining of my dentures, which cost $1,600. My upper denture was initially comfortable, with only a minor thin spot prompting the relining, but my lower denture was problematic, requiring denture adhesive before meals and still becoming loose during eating. Dr. Ruel, nearing retirement and working only one day a week, scheduled my impressions for the following week, promising a next-day turnaround. However, when I called to confirm post-relining care for potential sore spots, the office assured me Dr. Ruel would be available. Upon dropping off my dentures, he then informed me they would take a week, contradicting his earlier promise. After I reminded him of his initial claim, he made a brief call to the lab and stated they could deliver the next day. I suspect he was reluctant to come in on his day off, leaving me without dentures for longer than expected. When I received my dentures, the upper plate was uncomfortably tight, and the lower plate felt unchanged, as if no work had been done. After pointing this out, Dr. Ruel reduced the charge to $800 and offered an immediate soft relining. Unfortunately, the soft relining was poorly executed: the lower plate had untrimmed excess material and there are sharp edges on the outer teeth, while the upper plate's roof lining felt like sandpaper, causing significant soreness in the roof of my mouth. I had to return multiple times, waiting a week between appointments, to address persistent sore spots and problems. The teeth still feel unpolished and rough. Now, my upper denture requires adhesive to stay in place--unlike before--and moves when chewing tougher foods like steak. The lower denture is so loose that I need to re-apply adhesive multiple times during a single meal. Overall, my dentures are in worse condition than before, and I'm don't think they can be fixed. I strongly advise against seeing Dr. Ruel, who has since relocated to Tiverton. This review pertains solely to Dr. Ruel's service, not the other excellent dentists at Aquidneck Dental in Portsmouth.

Months ago my sister visited this office for a broken front tooth & was told by Jeffrey that he couldn't put a crown on it, but to return for a cleaning. She had a fantastic oral surgeon extract the tooth & returned to Mansolillo months later for a cleaning & x-rays. The hygienist x-rayed her teeth & said for her to return for a 2 visit deep cleaning, but had to submit it to her insurance company before booking the appointments. I gave my sister's paperwork to the receptionist, to indicate what had been done & she gave it back to me. I told her that someone needed to indicate what was done, so she gave the paperwork to the hygienist who was complaining about being a half hour late for her next appointment. The next day they called me & said they couldn't treat my sister (who is in a wheelchair). I asked why & they regurgitated a word salad that implied they couldn't treat her in her wheelchair (that btw reclines). They said they were referring her to another dental office. I expressed that they should have been up front with me & told me this before I left their office. I asked if they could please text me the name & number of the other dental office. The receptionist said she could either text or email me the info. I told her that I prefer she text me the info but she insisted on me giving her my email address. When I didn't comply, she decided to rudely hang up on me. A few minutes later, I was left a voicemail by a different woman asking for my email address. Shortly after that I received a text asking for my email address. The fish is definitely rotting from the head down in that office. Jeffrey needs to stop prancing around that office & exercise some empathy & compassion, especially for those less fortunate than himself. And btw, my sister was in a wheelchair when he initially saw her for her broken tooth. That entire practice is the epitome of disrespect & cowardice.
