After having been to a true Frankenstein dentist, Dr. Cardenas has been a breeze. The office staff are all very lovely and the dentist's demeanor is always pleasant. I have somewhat fragile teeth so I have had several fillings done by him and he always calms my fears of the worst. Never patronizing, just reassuring. He takes the time to figure out the best solution and filling type before starting but I will note that I do find myself having to ask him what he will be doing. But no matter how many questions I ask, even when I've asked him why he'll be doing something one way and not another, he always answers the questions satisfactorily. All I know is that I've always had a bit of fear of the dentist but I have never felt pain or discomfort during a visit with him. My husband and I have both been seeing Dr. Cardenas for a few years now and I find their prices to be exactly comparable to other dentists and their office hours are very accommodating with evening and Saturday appointment times.

The first time I made my appointment online and I even called them to confirm. I then arrived for my "appointment" only to be informed that I was discarded from the schedule because I did not answer their "phone call" which I never got in the first place. I figured mistakes happen, so I made another "appointment" for June 2nd @ 9:00 am. I even stayed, and filled out all of my insurance info since I was a new patient. Two weeks went by, and silly me did not call to confirm/double check with them because I figured I was physically there and filled out all of my information. Additionally, there was no phone call from them either to confirm. I bet you can guess what happened next. I arrived to find that I was not on the schedule. They tried to offer me another appointment for September - a whole three months away. I just told them to forget it I will go somewhere else. I found him through an online search of top RI dentists, and once I confirmed that he was a preferred provider for my insurer, it was full steam ahead :) I had to schedule a few months out, which was to be expected. It was a very pleasant experience. The front desk ladies, my dental hygienist and Dr. Correia were all fantastically pleasant. The hubby had an equally awesome time and we will happily be back!

But if you pay for dental insurance, there's no excuse. So, I make an effort to visit the dentist regularly to avoid future complications. As I mentioned, I hate taking time to go to the dentist. But, every time I've visited, it's been quick in-and-out. Their hours are convenient (yay for later appointments to fit my teacher schedule!) Dr. Renaud is incredibly professional yet kind. All staff, from receptionists to dental hygienists, have been helpful, efficient, and super friendly. Their office is clean and cozy. I left his office calm, collected, and confident - feelings I never thought I would experience after visiting a dentist! Over the years I came to appreciate that reliability, and Dr. Barr was always a great professional. I should have written a five-star review a long time ago, not that the office would have needed it. The practice was sold recently to someone called Katherine Burton, who I've never seen. I have seen one of the other Dentists there, who is young and eager and seems knowledgeable. I do find the bedside manner not quite filling Dr. Barr's shoes, although I suppose that's something that comes with time. Other things have changed, too: the front desk staff, who I always liked, and I've had to trundle out to the other office in North Prov a few times because they couldn't reschedule me on South Main. None of which is a deal-killer, and I guess if I walked in the door today I wouldn't think much of it, but, I don't know, it's just the way my trust in the practice has been lowered just a bit that feels uncomfortable, somehow.
