But meeting the staff, I immediately felt relieved. Our dental hygienist for the kids was Ms. Sandy and she was spectacular. She really talked to my daughter in a way that she'd understand. She was patient with her, let her see all the tools they were going to use, let her pick the toothpaste flavor and was just overall wonderful to my daughter. Our little boy is under one but has lots of teeth, so we got him checked out too. He wasn't a fan of the dentist/hygienists but they were quick and no tears were shed. The receptionists and the billing/scheduling ladies were also really nice. They answered my questions and were quick and efficient. I'm happy with the care my kids received here.

Prior to the time of my appointment, a kind reminder was sent by text message to my cell. Everything was pristine on-site. The luxurious waiting room was modern and soothing with grey touches and plenty of comfortable seating area. Complementary coffee, tea and chilled bottles of water were offered. There was also a TV screen, magazines and children's books. The bathroom were located on the right side of the reception. The competent, customer-oriented and pretty hygienist Brooke did a thorough and painless dental cleaning. I appreciated Brooke measured beforehand the depths of each of my gum pocket. After the dental cleaning and polishing of my teeth were complete, Brooke gave pieces of advice on how to improve further my maintenance routine: 2.1. I should diminish the amount of sugar consumed. 2.2. Teeth should be brushed with an extra-soft toothbrush at a 45 degree angle. 2.3. Each tooth should be flossed individually by being hugged in a C motion. Then, the knowledgeable, agreeable, honest and easy on the eyes David Perpall, DMD performed a visual inspection of my teeth. We saw Dr. Blanco growing up for many years and received several fillings throughout our time. However, as a young adult, I have had 3 different dentists point out deficiencies in the technology and technique that was used in our fillings, first at age 23, then 26, and now again at age 28. I have had to have all 5 fillings that I received from Dr. Blanco removed and replaced. I was told by 3 separate dentists, all of whom I trusted, that they were using old fillings ("technology from the nineties") and that much better options would have been available at the time that I received the fillings. They shared that as a result my fillings were cracking 5-8 years before what could have reasonably been expected, hence the additional hours of dental work and $1000 I had to spend getting all replaced. My brother had a similar experience. In fact, his fillings were so compromised that he had to have a corrective root canal. While there are always several factors to consider here, the common denominator has been multiple professionals pointing out flaws in the technology and application. I hope things have improved at Dr. Blanco's since then -- I would be curious to know and you should ask before having yourself or your children receive fillings here.

One of the most alarming experiences I've had with a pediatric provider. This office refuses to…read moreallow parents in the back with their children during procedures, which is completely unacceptable for a pediatric practice. No parent should be made to feel pressured into handing their child over without being present. Dr. Utermark pushed back extensively when I insisted on accompanying my son and only begrudgingly agreed to "allow" it after repeated insistence. That alone was enough to concern me, but my conversation with the doctor revealed several additional red flags that made it clear this is not a practice that values parental involvement, transparency, or patient comfort. The attitude was dismissive, controlling, and shockingly out of touch with what families should expect from pediatric care. There are FAR better pediatric dentists and orthodontists (who accept United Concordia- Tricare dental) in the area who understand that parents are partners in their child's care, not inconveniences to be managed. She was able to get him in for an eval quickly and the got his extraction taken care of soon after. My son did great and he was willing to come back again the following month for a couple fillings too. She got him nice and numb and was able to do two fillings in his baby teeth. The fillings are smooth with no catches when flossing and Max said it didn't hurt and they still don't bother him. We made sure to get him the nitrous oxide to make sure he was comfortable.
