I don't live in the area but my friend and sister do and they have been attending classes here for a while. My friend decided to rent the studio for a private birthday spin and stretch class with Nancy. They have cycling shoes for you to borrow and cubbies to put your stuff in. I like that they adjust the lights and music throughout the class to keep it cooler and almost like a dance class. As someone who has only done spin classes a handful of times, it was nice to have an instructor who acknowledged that we are all at varying levels of experience or lack there of in my case. Decided to give Pedal another try since the last time I visited was in 2017! A lot has changed but also a lot has stayed the same in a good way! They updated their bikes! Spin shoes are now a requirement. They do have shoes available that you can borrow or rent (if you're on Class Pass). The staff and instructors are all very friendly and helpful in helping with setting up the bikes and making sure we're comfortable. I've only had 3-4 different instructors but I enjoy their energy and their music for all of the classes. I don't always do or keep up with the choreography but they're very encouraging and supportive of just doing your best. I started going to Pedal studio just 2 1/2 months ago. I got a great deal on their student discount for the first three months. I'm currently in school but they have a lot of great morning early classes and late evening classes. I have since signed up for an unlimited membership and will go at least 4 to 5 days a week. I don't often write reviews online, but Pedal absolutely deserves the recognition for how much they've become a part of my life over the past year. I'm a graduate student who moved to the east side of LA recently, and I don't hesitate to say that becoming a member at Pedal is the single best thing I've done for myself in a LONG time. I started at Pedal in August 2024 with a Brat Summer-themed class with Nancy. I had taken spin classes before throughout college at various studios and franchises, so I knew off the bat that Pedal was delivering on both quality of classes and environment. I signed up for an unlimited membership the next day. But here's where Pedal really sets itself apart: THE PEOPLE! I have taken classes with almost every single instructor, and I'm constantly in awe of how unique everybody's classes are, and how every coach brings something new and different to the table. From Nancy's lighthearted morning spin classes to Marcos's hilarious strength classes to Brooke's fast-paced Tuesday evenings to Dion's empowering Spicy Saturdays (and so many more!!!), Pedal truly has so many flavors of coaches and classes and I can't get enough of all of them. The crew also never fails to make me smile! They're always so helpful, and put in so much work behind the scenes to clean the bikes between classes, launder all of the sweat towels and lavender cold towels, and coordinate everybody's booking and check-in processes. Endless thanks to the whole staff :) But even in addition to the coaches & crew, I have found so much joy in making friends with the people who ride and lift alongside me every day. The clientele who keep coming back to Pedal day after day is such a bright and friendly group of individuals. I've gotten to know so many of them and I genuinely look forward to seeing them in class! I am a ClassPass holder and I'm very happy that I ran into the studio when I want to explore different cycling studios. I have tried different instructors in different times and days and I cannot tell you enough that this place is amazing!! Not only all the instructors that I've been to are so energetic and positive, they offer clip shoe rent for free, not like other cycling studios that I went. this is perfect for me because I'm still deciding if cycling is the right workout for me, but I want to do at least twice a week cardio. The place is clean and the parking can be a little bit challenging, but there is a plenty in the street . The staff are super super nice as well. I highly recommend this cycling studio. read more

Started 2023 with a Class Pass to this studio. Haven't done cycling for a while, so I thought I'd give it a spin. Free parking in a small, shared lot. I was lucky to get a spot. Maybe because it was New Years Day?!?! There's free street parking as well. Nice restroom to freshen up in after class. Once in the studio, the young lady behind the counter gave me my cycling shoes and she helped to set me up on my bike since I haven't done it in a while. I HATE using these types of shoes, I'd rather use my sneakers, but since they don't use cages, I had no choice. Towels are provided free of charge which is really nice. There are small cubbies for you to put your stuff in like your purse. The music was loud, and the instructor had more than enough energy for the entire class. At times I found it annoying, but the regulars seemed to enjoy it. In one portion of the class, we get off our bikes and get onto the hard cold floor to do some exercises which I HATED because I'm on this hard cold floor!! Most places have a mat that you can lie on for floor exercises. I used my small towel instead which wasn't any help at all. I like doing floor exercises like sit ups, but this is the one time I hated it because of the cold, hard floor. Would I come back? MAYBE...... read more

I've been on a Classpass hunt for the best Spin Class and so far the perks of this studio are my favorite. I booked my class through the Classpass app and made an account with Pedal Spin Studio. With the "Pedal Studio" app, I was able to find all of the details for my class - time, instructor, location, and bike #. The app is very easy to use. I arrived 20 minutes before the start of class because Google Maps showed a very small parking lot. Parking is shared with a coffee shop. When I arrived, the parking lot was full. I parked on the street, which is also free. I've been to my fair share of spin classes and this studio is the only one that provides free complimentary shoe rentals. This is a huge bonus. SoulCycle charges $4 for shoe rentals each visit, so it can add up. The bikes are sanitized before the start of each class by the staff. The instructors from the prior class and current class assist students with adjusting the bike to fit our height. My instructor, Peyton, was funny and sarcastic because my class was a little dull on a Sunday morning. She had great spirit and energy and I loved how she encouraged us to cheer on our fellow classmates. I didn't feel as sweaty as other Spin classes I've been to, but I think it had to do with how well-spaced each bike was and the open-studio layout. I also enjoyed the weighted bar arm workout at the end. Another awesome perk was the complimentary eucalyptus cooling towels. It was so refreshing after a nice sweat. The only thing that I might critique is the bike. My bike felt a little wobbly at times and the equipment seems a little outdated compared to other studios. This is a review of Marcos' TRX class 9:30am Wednesday's. I haven't gone to a strength training class in over 10 years. Years ago I attended fitness classes regularly but would faint on occasion. I had teachers who weren't understanding. Fainting during workouts was scary. Especially because I didn't know the cause. Later I found out I had a genetic condition that affected my muscles and joints. Now that my illness is more regulated I feel ready to try classes again. My fiancé and I have been coming here for almost a year and we absolutely love it! Bikes are nice, water refill stations are fire. Shoe rentals are in great condition. Dorian never lets your forget your form with your core and never disappoints with his playlists. Amanda puts so much heart into her classes, and they completely pop off. I always go back to Maren's class for her delightfully fun and delightfully elaborate choreo that she somehow makes feel easy just because she understands the learning structure of how your brain adapts to something new. I can claim only a handful of classes across the rest of the instructors, but I can say that they all support each other and attend the classes of the other instructors- if I have not taken a class with them I have ridden alongside them! Throughout the year the studio puts on different elective challenges. The studio also offers support beyond the bike, with physical training, mobility workshops, youth camps, and social events that foster a sense of community and family. Pedal Spin Studios has provided consistent workouts and a positive environment, which has been clutch to feeling committed and motivated. I have been going to Pedal Spin Studio for years now and can't recommend them enough. Mark Wilson and Marcos Leyba are my absolute favorite instructors. Mark's spin classes are accessible to anyone, beginners to experienced cyclers. There's no pressure to do anything you're not comfortable with and it's all about riding to the beat of amazing songs from the 70's - 2000's. I'm not a fan of the crazy weight lifting or synchronized dance on bikes thing at other studios so I'm glad I can count on Mark to keep all that out of his classes. Mark's class is where it's at! Marcos teaches TRX class and oh boy he'll kick your butt! I always leave class feeling stronger and more capable. He's such an encouraging instructor and has endless modifications so everyone can get a good workout in. As long as Mark and Marcos are at Pedal Spin Studio, I'll keep coming back each week. read more

Recently started going to pedal spin. Purchased a set of 5 classes and just bought another. Love that they have an app it makes it super easy to book classes. Jenn is awesome and plays great rock and punk mixes. I enjoy her class the best due to her instruction and music mix. I only wish she could add more classes or a class after 6pm so I could join more often. Sydney is great and plays a lot of hip hop remixes. Super challenging and supportive. Saturday morning Melissa's classes are tough and always booked so plan early. I Overall the team there is very welcoming and super supportive. The ONLY constructive criticism I could have is 1. update the instructors profiles with the types of music they play...personally I'm not super motivated by the club pop mixes so that would be good to know in making class selections. 2. increase instructor volume when speaking sometimes between my heavy breathing and the music I can't hear as clearly but it's not a deal breaker for me all I have to do it look up and follow their lead. read more

New to the area, I decided to try out this studio back in the summer with a Groupon (5 classes). The studio is clean, organized, and well maintained. The nuts and bolts: There is a water dispenser at the front, bathrooms (no showers), cubbies for your to store your belongings during the class itself. You can either wear your athletic sneakers (they have cages that can accommodate any shoe), your own spin shoes, OR you can rent spin shoes for the day. They provide towels for the workout. Free parking (small lot), but usually street parking is not too difficult to find. When you enter, you find your name on the tablet and check yourself in. As for the class, it's usually 45 - 60 minutes. Depending on what class you take, it can be pure spinning, or a mix of spin/cardio or sometimes yoga. My favorite instructors were Joey (she moved to La Canada though), because she was fun, uplifting, and high energy. She wastes no time transitioning from song to song (my pet peeve because some instructors find their next song while class is going on and wastes class time...). She also challenges you during every ride. On my 45 minute ride with Joey, I burned over 500 calories, whereas some other 60 minute rides at Pedal Spin only burned ~400 calories. My other favorite instructor is Maren, whose playlist is more like electronic dance music, rock as well. She also is tough on routine, but you always leave with a good sweat. All in all, will recommend for those in the area, since spin studios are not as bountiful in East LA in and of itself. As a general take away, from the rides I have done at Pedal Spin, they are not synced with the beat of the music (except for Joey), so don't expect it to be like a Soul Cycle type of choreographed class. Still a good work out, but for those who like to dance on the bike, you might want to look elsewhere! read more

I have fallen in love with this studio after just a few visits! I bought a Groupon for 10 classes and used them up within a week and a half and have since gotten the unlimited monthly membership (which feels like a great deal since I plan on going several times a week)! They have both the SPD and Look clips, offer towel service, have restrooms and a water filling station, and are adhering to COVID guidelines with both their indoor and outdoor classes. They just added a tint to their windows too which was a great choice! For the instructors, I've enjoyed every single one in different ways. Maren was the first instructor I had and she was high energy and had a lot of good music. You could tell she enjoyed being there. It was tough to keep up with her since it was my first class, but I would definitely recommend her! Mark was the next instructor I had and he plays lots of 70's/80's R&B and Hip Hop, which isn't my usual choice for music but his energy is so infectious that it's enjoyable regardless. I've had the easiest time keeping up with his instructions and he has a lot of fun with his class. Jake was the instructor for my first indoor ride and he had a great playlist (one of my favorites so far) with popular music and some remixes, and was good about motivating and encouraging our class. He also left enough time to cool down and really stretch out, which I appreciated. Jenn was tough - I burned more calories at this class than I had at any of the others (and I feel like I've been able to push myself more since!). She treated our class like it was a race, encouraging us to get first place. Lots of Alt Rock music and some Irish tunes, I was definitely sweating by the end of this one! Brooke is awesome and really clear with her instructions. She has some of my favorite music and is really encouraging about focusing on yourself and your ride. She encourages you to push yourself to get the most out of your time, and I definitely leave feeling like I got a great workout. Ana was another tough one who said she treats attendees like they are athletes, rather than doing choreography and other things you would usually expect from a spin class. Lots of hills and sprints, but a great remix of songs that flowed one into the next. Joey was the last instructor I had under my Groupon and she was really fun. She made sure to ask me my name and encourage folks by name throughout the duration of the class, which I always love. She was extra attentive to form and encouraged us to push ourselves. read more

Hello all! I love this place. I rolled my ankle in December and was set for auto pay Jan. I contacted the studio and asked if they could suspend my charges for a month so I could heal. Alicia was great. I contacted them early thisweek and not only did she reset my auto pay so it aligned with my direct deposit, she's letting me start sooner than later. I love Mar's class she's beautiful inside and out. The tribe there is funny and super positive. The people there do their very best to help out! My 3rd stop on my ClassPass. I've had Pedal Spin bookmarked for quite some time now so I was very pleased to see they are one of the studios I can attend with ClassPass. Located not too far from my boyfriends house, this is another studio/location that works well with my schedule at certain times during the week and weekend. I signed up for their 745A Sunday Spin class and arrived a little ahead of time to get acquainted with the place. They have a private parking lot in back of the studio which was a breeze to find a spot in although shared since they occupy a multi tenant building. I think it may be foolish to think parking is always this simple but at this time on a Sunday it was. I was greeted by Corena when it was my turn at the front desk for check in. She was very friendly and welcoming which right off the bat set the tone for Pedal. I told her it was my first visit, filled out a quick form and she pointed out their two restrooms, one with a shower, showed me where I could fill my water bottle with filtered water, provided me with a towel and even went to secure a bike for me with the proper clips for my spin shoes. I inquired about lockers and she showed me the two sets but even offered to hold my bags upfront with her if I felt more comfortable. I was very impressed and felt very comfortable with this option but didn't want to appear snobby so settled on storing my items in a cubby although they aren't secured with locks, and open. I spotted another changing room beside the restroom and overheard the friendly greetings of other customers. This is the type of studio where they definitely know their regulars and are friendly, nice and polite to everyone including other new comers arriving. It was my first time in a studio that did not have a private room and the lighting was much brighter than I've ever been in for Spin as you have all exterior windows with light shining in. I feel it was a bit of a distraction and a little harder to really "get in the zone" because I could see so much going on outside. We also had a handful of late comers and folks getting off/on bikes during the ride. The instructor was ok and the music was a bit different than my taste. I felt it didn't always match what we were doing, weather it was double time or accelerating which was all fine, I dealt with it. She was happy and had a smile on her face which was nice. Pedal really felt, out of LA which it is. It feels like a small, hometown, quaint studio with neighborhood locals. The bikes seem a bit old and they aren't fancy by any means. It feels nearly unfair to even compare this studio to FlyWheel where I normally ride. It's apples to oranges and I'd feel guilty to hold anything about a lovely little place by comparing them to something on a much different technical level (equipment mainly). Will I get my best rides in here? No, probably not. Would I return for evening after work rides and maybe sometimes on the weekend if I'm in the area? Yes, probably. If you live in this area, I'd recommend checking out Pedal. Every ride is what you make it, you control the resistance you know your own strength so you can definitely get in a little work out here. I was honestly expecting a straight spin class but when we got there, we were told to get a mat, a few different weights. I was also told that spin shoes were optional since we were getting on and off the bikes.
