pro: i like that it's a smaller more intimate gym that's never too crowded (except the parking lot). the trainers here makes you feel very comfortable and accepted and not pushed past your body's boundaries PE with Ames is one of my favorites because they help me understand how to posture myself for certain workouts and use equipment that i've always been too scared to ask for help with. I think it's a good class to help anyone getting started, because when Ames isn't in i can just think back to previous classes and pick how i want to work out for the day. Boomba with B Fierce is also super fun too, you can't beat getting dance lessons from a professional Queen! also like that there's an app to book classes con: i wish the hours were much longer... at least till 11:30 if not midnight :( closing at 8pm on fridays and 5pm on saturdays really sucks, especially if they're gonna be closed sundays too. makes it hard for those of us wanting to go in after work. the first gym i've actually bought a membership to ($110 a month and it's not auto renewed so i don't get charged until i check in for a new month! comes in clutch when life gets in the way and i go a month without working out). i wish more classes were offered at earlier times during the week for before work and just more classes offered overall on Fridays. the earliest class is usually 10am or 9am. the hours and limited classes have made me consider other gyms, but i'm not ready to give up PE with Ames just yet read more

EVERYBODY - Gyms Near Me - Los Angeles, California

I've been a basic member at Everybody for almost 2 years now (joined during their pride month sale!) and feel like I can give a solid review for the place outside of its probably amazing classes. I'll start with my pros: for a rather small space, the amount and variety of equipment is impressive - you can work out any muscle group effectively here, and target all areas of improvement (strength, endurance, flexibility, etc). It helps that there's an outdoor portion and 3 different rooms inside to workout in. Would really recommend taking a free tour and checking it out for yourself! It's also rare for the gym to *feel* crowded, despite it getting pretty full sometimes at your usual peak gym hours (although you'd be pleasantly surprised by how often it isn't at those hours too). Another obvious pro you notice just from walking through the door is the staff!! I'm not much of a talker but a friendly smile always goes a long way, and I appreciate the attentiveness of employees in doing the basics as well as going above and beyond - night staff always makes sure no one's car gets locked up at the park across the street. Ah! Another perk! Being located across the LA river state park! Plenty of after-gym sporting opportunities but more importantly, plenty of parking. My favorite feature that honestly has changed my life for the better is their sauna. I had never even considered going in one like, ever. But when I started incorporating it into my routine at the end of workouts, I noticed how much better I felt for hours and days after. Shoutout to them for not implementing their early closing rule they were about to enact because other gym goers have poor etiquette- obviously don't stay in the sauna after closing / until the very last minute. The staff are the kindest, so it's important we are too. More importantly in regards to the sauna, I feel safe! I've never had any negative encounters with anybody and I firmly believe that's because Everybody is built on the principle of inclusion. Even if someone did try it, I know the gym would act swiftly. As a trans person with visible scars: this matters deeply, and is at the end of the day the reason why I will always keep my membership here. I will say, however, that I'll have to seek out another gym in addition to Everybody soon because I work on weekends and prefer night workouts those days. The biggest downside (and probably the only one really, aside from not having a plate-loaded leg press) in my opinion is their closing hours on weekends. I was hoping to upgrade to the class pass soon but will have to wait until I jump a tax bracket haha. Until then I will prioritize coming here because I have made this place a 2nd home. I've never inquired about their other wellness specialists and features so I can't speak on those but this gym has everything, including a great set of trainers you can train with and take classes with too! No doubts in my mind I'd recommend this place. read more

Cyn's class is great for strength training, and Jasmine's is an awesome low impact challenge. Yoga classes are lovely and all a little different from one another. I'm sure the other classes are just as great! When I went in person, I trained with Robin and she helped me with form and motivated me (but without a lot of pressure) - we even got some zoom workouts from home in post-pandemic. read more

it's really disappointing when places preach diversity and inclusion but really just mean gay and white. i was infuriated after spending an hour there and being the only black person in the room besides a picture of a black yoga instructor in their LA Times cover feature. i give them two stars because the facility is nice, small but comfortable, the outside is cute and they offered a week of free services after Trump's election to foster community. i really support those ideas. i would've considered a membership but yall gotta do better. make an effort to actually bring "everybody" there. read more

I found this gym recently (~the beginning of the year), so I'm not sure how it operates outside of covid restrictions. Looks like they have a good handle on navigating current COVID restrictions. They have a 12-15 person limit and masks are required. They also provide a spray bottle of disinfectant and a towel to clean up after using. I'm not sure what's in the bottle but I assume it's disinfectant. The weights and other equipment are outside and you are able to get some sun while working out. The weights are a little old but they add to the gym vibes. They have punching bags but masks make it extremely difficult to hit the bag without the mask getting soaked. The gym promotes diversity and inclusion for everyone. it's a pretty chill gym. read more

Pretty cool, the only things I would say that are the biggest negatives are the trading hours & attendee cleanliness. They already close quite early compared to most gyms: 8pm on Fridays & 5pm on Saturdays and Sundays. Now, weekdays were recently changed to close 30 mins early. Not sure if this makes sense to do so during Summer out of all times. I've also seen the majority of people working out NOT wipe down their equipment after use which is pretty gross. Nobody tells them otherwise either. I feel staff should be a little more vigilant and aware of this. Also, if staff could make sure to keep the water cooler out the back stocked up, that would be awesome! But otherwise I enjoy going here! It has so much potential. read more

The mission is admirable, the equipment is below average, and the owner is unforgiving. I signed up for a one year contract assuming I could opt out at any time (as was the case at my previous spin studio, which was also a small business). I went to the gym maybe a total of three times, and when asked to cancel my membership I was met with resistance. They do not make exceptions. Even when I offered to pay the difference of what a month to month membership would cost they wouldn't consider it. Now I'm stuck with a gym membership (and will be out $700+ dollars) I don't use and now have absolutely no desire to. I'm extremely disappointed that a gym that claims to be so radical and inclusive is about as empathetic to the customer as a large corporation. Definitely do not recommend. read more

So it's pretty cheap for a monthly membership and their mission is admirable. I haven't ever taken a class because I am a powerlifter. That being said, the weights section is mildly depressing at best and unusable for me at worst. The machines are pretty much all too large for me to use. I'm a small woman and I don't feel like they took that into consideration when looking at the machines they purchased. The bench press is unusable once I start lifting heavy weight because it is not adjustable and I can't safely reach the bar. There's ONE SET of hooks to use their outdoor rig for their barbells, and there's maybe one full set of bumper plates. There's one squat rack inside. I get it, lifting is intimidating to some folks and maybe they're trying to not push that aspect of fitness, but there's also lgtbq folks who want to lift heavy in a space that is absent of the toxicity that the powerlifting community contains. I don't really feel capable of doing so at this gym. I am definitely going to return to my old gym all the way out in Alhambra once I have the opportunity. read more

I went to this gym for 6 months and really liked it. The atmosphere was great, staff was super friendly, and the sauna is really really nice. This gym got me through the pandemic and I'm super grateful for its existence. The only downsides would be their limited equipment like no free weight leg press, back row machine, and an incomplete dumbbell set inside the gym. They also didn't fix the leg curl machine for months (might still be broken) so that further contributed to the lack of equipment. However, I think they deserve some slack since money was probably really tight during the pandemic and they might not have been able to afford to fix it. Lastly, the towels they provided for showers/sauna was washed with a fragrant detergent which can be an allergy trigger so I recommend bringing your own if that's your issue. read more

Such an awesome space. I used to live half a mile away and would come here to work out. I never went to one of the classes but the people I have talked to who have attended love them. I would just use the gym. I really loved the outdoor gym area. Everyone who works there is very nice and there is just such a nice vibe at EVERYBODY. It really is an inclusive place for anyone to come and stay active and exercise as themselves without worry. I moved out of the area and am no longer able to make it to the gym but I will miss it! i had only been to everybody once irl pre-covid-19 and i loved it. everyone was super welcoming and inclusive and the hyper body class i took was a great workout. i wish every gym was like this! i am now an avid monthly member since all classes moved online. $5 for livestream classes is a steal! and the monthly membership specials are similarly affordable. cyn's classes on tuesday and sunday are my faves. hyperbody's classes are fun. the yoga classes are chill. i'm looking forward to trying the sound bath soon too. support this gym! we want them to re-open when it's safe to do so! read more

I joined Everybody to work with a personal trainer because working a full-time desk job and top of that, spending at least 2 hours in my car every M-F getting to/from work, I was starting to feel discomfort in different areas of my body. I decided to get someone to help me correct my posture and correct/improve my mobility. I started working with Hye Min (thanks to Elliot for the recommendation!) and it's been like magic. After a couple of months of weekly sessions with her, I'm feeling like my body moves the way it's meant to and I'm much more aware of my body mechanics/posture. As I move forward and look to start building strength next, I'm excited to see the progress I make based on what I've learned from Hye Min! As for the gym itself, what everybody else has said in these reviews is all correct. It's a fun and welcoming place. Good vibes are over the place! read more

Oh, Pony Sweat. My first Pony Sweat class was like a Flashdance/Girls Just Want to Have Fun (the movie)/Jane Fonda fever dream where I was a glittering unicorn killing my big dance sequence (when in reality I was navigating that room like a just-born, slightly drunk donkey). Whatever, I LOVED it. Then I found Everybody via the Pony Sweat website and fell in love with their mission. I immediately signed up for a membership (canceling my other fitness memberships), and I don't regret it. Classes like Pony Sweat and Fat Kid Dance Party are inclusive, inspiring, and so fun you forget you're sweating (I'm trying Hyperbody next, and I'm betting I'll enjoy that also). The instructors are warm and motivating. I actually look forward to going to the gym now. WHATTTT. People aren't necessarily super friendly at the gym itself, but they're certainly not unfriendly. I don't need everyone to know my name. I need to work out in a place where I'm not judged for my size or level of fitness, and this is that place. No one's sizing you up and gawking at you. Everyone's doing their own thing and focusing on their own self-care, and that's really refreshing. A PLUS: The bathrooms are always clean, it smells good, and the dispenser that automatically fills up your water bottle is the shit. It's the little things, you guys. read more

I am soooo excited to have found this gym and I HATE gyms. I went to EveryBody Saturday morning for their swoll class, and it put me in a good mood for days. It was so freakin fun! The instructor was like if Peaches was an 80s aerobic instructor. They used a voice changer thru the microphone that made their voice sort of like those Slowed Down Olsen Twin Videos (omg if you haven't watched one please do). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wusGIl3v044 I also felt like maybe they were using some original music?? There was this "butt stuff" song (literally) during the glute workout that had to be made by the instructor (or else some bizarre cosmic twist that created the embodiment of the song in person IDK!) Thier whole vibe and mission statement is so wonderful and lovely and gives me hope for the world. I know, this is a lot to get out of a gym. But who knew it was available? For $14 I feel like the class was a steal. I can't wait to try the HealthGoth class. *heart emojisssss* read more

My happy place. I mean, exercise gives you endorphins and endorphins make people happy! Elle Woods reference aside, this is hands down THE MOST communal and comfortable gym I have ever been to. No meat market vibes. Everyone nods and smiles at each other. It's like our little awesome secret. They hold some pretty cool health related events, they're all about body positivity (who wouldn't want to go to Fat Kids Dance Party?). No pressure to be perfect, just encouragement to move your body and love yourself unconditionally. Judgement free zone. Brass tacks: it's not a giant gym. The main floor has standard machines and a small free weight area. There are two rooms, one for more aerobic classes, and one meditation room. The changing area is gender neutral. However, there are private changing spaces for those who are a bit more modest. Also there are a couple of chill areas. They have a great outdoor workout space with TRX, bars, ropes, and fake grass area perfect for stretching. There's also some lovely seating areas to just chill. It's my favorite place to work out :) I usually say I want great businesses to stay secret so I can have it all to myself, but I want this place to succeed beyond measure. I want it to get so crowded that they have to expand. Expand the love bubble! read more

I would give no stars but the lowest I can do is 1 star. This gym is great- UNTIL you try to cancel your membership, or in my case, put it on hold for medical reasons. Called in Oct. 2018 to put my account on hold for two months because of my high risk pregnancy. I was told it was fine and to call back when I wanted to reinstate it. I then start getting letters from collection agencies because I "didn't pay" my fees. I called them, spoke to Dee, only to find out there were no "notes" of my call in Oct placing my account on hold. She said she was going to speak to the owner and call me back. A month goes by- no phone call from Sam or Dee. I called again to follow up and spoke to Joanna and let her know my situation. She takes down my info and calls me back (thank you Joanna!) with info saying she spoke to Sam and waived the two months the collection agency is billing me and was going to call the credit bureau to retract the negative mark on my credit score, BUT I was still on the hook for the two months my account was on hold because it "extended my contract." So if it extended my contract two months from October, it should have been up in Dec/January. I said, no problem! I'll pay an extra two months. It is now April and I got charged again and my credit report is still showing the negative mark. Called today and spoke to Valeria who said there were no notes about any of the above info :( and my contract was now up in June because I started a new contract in October! My immediate reaction was wtf?!! I'm livid at this point! She then says she's going to get all of my info and have Sam call me. Sound familiar?! Smh. I really just want this nightmare to end! KEEP THE MONEY, BUT FIX MY CREDIT REPORT! read more

New to Glassell Park and was looking for a closeby gym that was cheap but not sketchy. Boy was I delighted to find this place. Since I live less than a mile away, make less than 30K per year, and opted to pay monthly automatically, my membership is only $20 a month!! Ordinarily I would have not been able to afford a gym membership. Staff is super friendly, the space is clean, INCLUSIVE, ACCESSIBLE, and a fantastic community. Even has a room that can be used as an "anything goes" space when class isn't in session, so I get to practice with my hula hoops! Love the sauna and all-gender locker area. 5 stars. read more

I love this spot. The vibe is friendly, inclusive and open.The outdoor area is great for movement, weights or jump roping. I enjoy swinging by with my kid after we stroll the neighboring park. I get a thrill out of making new friends and running into my neighbors. If you're the type who believes that diversity is one of Los Angeles' greatest treasures, then you will probably fall in love with this place as well. I've been coming to this gym for 2 months now & I really love this place! There are 2 other gyms that are within a mile from my apt but I still choose to drive a few extra miles instead & spend my money here. Prior to Everybody, I hadn't been to a gym in about 10 years so I was really hoping this place would make me a changed woman and it has! Pros: All of the staff is very friendly & helpful Outdoor patio is to die for - great place to get a workout outside Super clean facility Parking always available Easy payment options Good music (Not going hear solely Top 40 here) Great classes / teachers Can tell they actually care about their clients & contributing to the local community Cons: The weekend hours can be a little limiting(open at 930am / close at 5), but it's easy to work around them ------------------ Everybody has only been around for a few months so they are still adding on a bunch of amenities. They also have been having some pretty cool events on the weekends, so keep an eye out for those on their Instagram @everybodylosangeles Also, if you're looking for a trainer to work with, I recommend JJ! There are several trainers there who all seem to do good work, but have been progressing really well with JJ. read more

But what I DON'T love (at all) is the size of the room the classes are in- it is WAY too small to accommodate the crowds these popular classes draw.
