Been training here for 10 years, shout out to Ronny for always getting the SSB out and playing the same song 10x for me lol

it's a no-frills, simple gym geared towards bodybuilders and power lifters. Everyone minds their own business and I was able to get a great leg day in. The day pass is $25, it's cheaper than golds. There will be gym rat influencers with tripods, but it's mostly powerlifting influencers. read more

Been here a little over 2 years now. Just a big fan of all the equipment and how easy it is to set up. Not to mention all the toys it has. It comes with a variety of chains, belts, handles, bars, kettlebells and more. They also host many PowerLifting events throughout the year, as well. read more

Great gym and great community. It's a treat if you grew up knowing the owners and history of Barbell Brigade. I came here for the day and made a friend. The equipments plenty and aimed towards any fitness goal you have in mind. They do not have life fitness or typical 24hour fitness machines. They got benches, squat racks, assault bikes, cables, outdoor area and 4 deadlift platforms. They also provide tons of barbell collars and tripods to record your PR. I would def join this gym if I lived in LA. read more

I was at a typical gym before coming here. I had trained at said gym for 5 years & felt like I had gotten to the point of needing to find another gym or powerlifting gym that would fill the needs of what I did in order to progress. I felt like the gym I was at made me very stagnant in my progression. I tried Barbell Brigade a few times here & there & loved it every single time I trained there. It felt amazing with the vibe, energy & people in general. The equipment is by far one of the best well equipped gyms around. Every time I came here, I always had what I needed to train or even learned new ways to train because of the variety they have in all their equipment. This year, I decided to get a 5 day pass & try it out way more often. Then, after the 5 day pass was done, my mind was made up & decided to leave my gym & join Barbell Brigade once & for all. I just wish I had joined earlier & had been able to train with proper equipment. Barbell Brigade is such an amazing & incredible powerlifting gym. Would I recommend it to anyone? Heck yeah! read more

Barbell Brigade - Power lifting gym - Gyms Near Me - Los Angeles, California

Barbell Brigade is an iconic gym that's quite famous in the area through its strong social media presence. I was quite excited to go as many of my friends have gone before and have a few friends who have memberships there. The equipment there is really good, there's quite an assortment to choose from. Powerlifters are sure to love the selection and abundance of squat rack spots. My only gripe is the pretty expensive day pass. The gym knows how to capitalize on its fame by charging $20 per day pass which is almost as much as my monthly membership for my local gym. read more

Customer support at this gym sucks. They don't care. Even when you're patient and respectful.

It was alright at first. I went in and wasn't greeted by anyone. I paid the day pass and then went to go do some leg workout. 20 minutes in my workout this rude employee bumped in to me and laughed and didn't even apologize. I left immediately. read more

By far one of the best gyms I've been too!!! Label it as the Mecca for ultimate leg days!!! First things first: Location: in an okay spot decent amount of parking I can see that maybe during certain times of the day it can be sketchy but nothing too bad. Cleanliness: very clean gym but can do some updating as far as seats being ripped up. Weights and equipment: weights AMAZING! Metal, Bumper, Calibrated plates! The weight there is no joke. Bars all types universal, deadlift, stow pipe, Texas squat bars literally all types of bars workouts here especially for SDB (Squat/Deadlift/Bench) will be amazing with type of equipment here! Price: day pass is a solid $20 and well worth every dollar you spend here!!! Employees: shout out to Cyrus hell of an awesome dude gave us a quick tour and was professional about everything, explained rules, lifts, weird equipment haha even on his brakes he would walk around spotting people. Very awesome dude. GET THIS MAN PAID!!!! Haha Overall it was an amazing gym. music, vibe, experience. Everything was amazing. Only reason it's not Five stars is location, size, and no sauna but if your here straight for Buisness this is the gym for you! Stay safe everyone! -The Gym Phantom read more

I drove a little over an hour to workout here. I reached out to them in advance to see if I can take Gavin here. They got back to me w/in 24 hours and told me that he is welcomed to wait in the lobby where there is a couch or on the turf w/ me. Obviously a waiver needed to be signed but I am no beginner at that because he goes to Smash Gym w/ me in San Jose and I did the same thing at Elev8 Performance in Huntington Beach 2 years ago. + $20 for a day pass. Same price everywhere else. + Friendly atmosphere. Family-like feel. + Music blaring. No need for your headphones. + Racks on racks. + Each rack can have 2 squatters. + They have rubber and metal plates. + Restroom facility is clean and have a digital scale. + Film-friendly. + First time I saw 55lb bar (so used to the 45lbs). + Love their deadlift platforms. + Cold Monster Zero (white cans) readily available. "Dominate Humbly" fits the atmosphere at this gym perfectly. Regardless if you are an athlete, a beginner, someone who just want to be active and healthy, or just someone that enjoys lifting heavy... this place IS for you. Gavin ended up doing squats and deadlifts w/ me. It was the perfect mother and son date. Thank you for this wonderful experience. ...canoe list check off. After trolling Barbell Brigade for a year, the opportunity presented itself for a drop in as I was in Cali. Easy to find and a great place to lift. Parking - street parking is free with a couple of one-day stipulations (Friday I believe is street sweeping day) but the location itself lends to ease of parking on the street which is free (non-metered) Staff - friendly and welcoming, huge plus, sorry for forgetting his name but Devante/Delante? was a huge presence of aloha, mahalo sir, 10/10. Situation - since it was my first time there I signed a waiver and my info via iPad which took no longer than a couple of minutes, 9/10 Fee - only there for 1 day so it was $20...bonus Yelp $5 off when you "check in" via yelp, 910 Facilities - clean and organized, 10/10 Equipment - coming from 24 HR Fitness in Kapiolani, Oahu, I was a kid in a candy store here as they have reverse hypers, GHD machine and choke (a plethora) squat rigs. Add in Deadlift platforms, rogue bench, 3 comp type benches and a great mobility area and I should've been paying more for rent. Chalk it up, chains, all kinds of specialty bars; kabuki-type Bench, SSB, Deadlift, Bamboo, football, etc. they also have slingshots for benching and bands for mobility use. 10/10 for equipment. I lifted around 1 pm to about 3 pm and it was fairly empty at the beginning. It started picking up at the end of my workout there and the vibe is a lot of head nodding and appreciation when u see someone lifting heavy shit and vice versa. Big mahalo to braddah who told me that I had the SSB bar the wrong way...no ego, all aloha! Big shout out to braddah Andrew for the spot as he just moved to LA and joined the gym a couple of months ago. All in all, I'd recommend this place to all my ohana and friends who want to lift heavy shit at a world class gym. Negative reviews revolve around hours and price...my take; I am happy to pay for value and Barbell Brigade is worth every bit of my hard earned $$$ if I were to live in LA and train there. read more

DOV: 11/26/16 | 9 AM-11:30 AM Post Thanksgiving dinner gave us the perfect excuse to come visit Barbell. Slightly out of the way, but definitely an unforgettable experience in LA! Parking: street parking free! Also a small parking lot behind the building. We came before the pre-lunch rush (no such thing as breakfast!), so it was very empty. Upon entrance, we were greeted by Demi and asked to quickly fill out a form. Pro tip 1: $20/day pass, $18 after Yelp check in for 10% off (each individual needs to check in separately)! Pro tip 2: Cash or check accepted! Pro tip 3: Yes...you CAN eat in here! I saw Jack-in-the-Box as preworkout?! While we filled out the form, we were offered BREAKFAST BURRITOS by Serro....at that moment, I knew the BB culture is literally #FAMILY. Who would offer a tasty burrito to a stranger? Not me... Quick tour: belts, foam rollers, chalk, plates, racks, platforms, etcetera. Everything you need for the basic compound movements! Pros: +Awesome music! Makes you feel swag and want to push even harder. +Great lighting! I love the natural CA sunshine that pours through the roof and from the gates. +Clean facility! Everyone respects the property here, so they do their due diligence in racking weights after. +All the accessories you need for powerlifting: foam rollers, belts, chalk...you can buy wraps too! As well, there are some items you can check out at the front desk if you trade in your driver's license. +Really welcoming atmosphere! Staff here are amazing. Cons: -If only I got to see Bart & Geo...AHHH. Before we left, we got to take a photo with Lu! He was hella nice and I love his laugh! Everyone here is so genuine, just like they are in their youtube videos. Definitely did not want to leave! Don't be intimidated that this is a gym frequented by Youtubers or lifters. Everyone at all stages of their gym career are here, so don't back out if you think you haven't joined the 1k club yet! PS: Maybe I should have worn the BB swag instead of Alphalete...OH WELLS. read more

The gym itself is ok. It's pretty small and gets crowded quickly, and there really isn't much for accessory work so you'll have to wait awhile or come early -- basically as soon as they open. Some issues I've had: they are randomly closed all the time for competitions or otherwise. I've driven over numerous times only for it to be closed or be sent away. For the price, I'm not sure that it's worth it, but it's honestly one of the very very few gyms that are open in the area right now, so not really much of a choice. They seem to be pretty good about the Covid rules. However, I want to use this review to talk about something much more important. There is a younger guy I've seen here on occasion (it's Saturday afternoon right now and he's here) who spends the entire time working out shirtless, posing in between reps in the mirror and otherwise being incredibly cringe. Bro. You're not attractive or even all that fit... you're literally just skinny. There are actual monsters in here who could squash you with a single pinky toe, and they don't walk around with even a quarter of the ego. Keep your shirt on. You're so embarrassing. It literally makes me physically hurt to be in the same vicinity as you. Just to be clear, I am not even a dude. I don't mean to sound like a d**k, but you honestly deserve to be cyberbullied. read more

Be very careful when using your credit card here. Always insist on receipts. I tried to go in to train last night after purchasing a $50 five day pass two days prior. When I tried to go in, the girl at the front desk kept saying there was no record of that purchase transaction. I immediately got Visa on the phone and sure enough, they said Barbell Brigade did take $50 two days prior despite the front desk girl claiming there was no record of it. This whole annoying ordeal took so long, I didn't even get to train that night. Just a reminder to stay vigilant when in comes to your credit card transactions. read more

I started coming here during the covid lockdown and fell in love with the community. The gym has a variety of equipment for all types of lifters- Olympic lifting, powerlifting, body building, and just the average gym goer. The separated Olympic platforms make it easy for Olympic lifters with provided Olympic barbells. I was especially pleased with the courteousness of the staff. During covid all the members were very covid safe- wiping down their own equipment after use and wearing their masks the entire time. Mostly everyone puts their weight away when they're done. This gym will always be one of my favorites. read more

This is a guest review. I had a blast here. I didn't really get a full workout, it was more like having fun and supporting friends here at the IG famous Barbell Brigade. Equipment:Very clean. Well taken care of. We went at a perfect time where literally down to three people working out at 8am. I came in with a couple of friends to do a couple of sets of squats. Theres tumblrs, to pipe rolls and reg foam rollers to warm up. 4 deadlifts platforms 2 olympic lift platforms a large long green astro turf for warming and some push and drag equipment there. Lots of squat racks I saw at least 4 benches Plenty of pull up bars. 2 neutral gender bathrooms ( no showers ) notes: $20 dollars for drop in Perfect for your lift video for the famous Barbell Brigade banner. parking a couple in the back Mostly street parking (non metered) Verdict: If this was in the valley this would be a next level place for me to lift. read more

As a power lifter, I HAD to make a trip to the Mecca while on vacation in SoCal. Anyone can drop in and get a workout in; the daily rate is $20 (minus a discount if you check in on Yelp!). The daily rate is steep (I have a membership at a commercial gym, and the drop-in rate is $10), but you are paying to use the facilities at a single location. Barbell Brigade is not your typical gym franchise. Big thanks to Lu G., who welcomed my boyfriend and I to the gym. He walked us through the gym and showed us every area of the gym and all of the equipment available. He was really engaging and genuinely interested in our trip and offering suggestions, and also finding me a hip circle so I could warm up. This is a great reflection of their staff and of the true powerlifting community. There's every different types of barbells you could imagine (safety, Texas, deadlift, multi-grip, cambered, and lots more). They offer every type of Slingshot to use, as well as a fully stocked rack of chains and resistance bands. There's chalk and liquid chalk, collar locks, pic pipes, and foam rollers... Honestly it's weight lifting HEAVEN. The gym itself is very clean and well-lit. People re-rack their weights and keep the space clear so everyone can get their workouts in. The bathrooms are clean and don't smell like protein death. The music is blasting really loud all the time, which is my only complaint because I don't like to scream at my gym partner so he can hear me. But it's good to get into that PR mindset. If you can make a trip out, definitely go. Barbell Brigade is a gym designed by power lifters for power lifters. And you'll never know who you might run into at the gym (Marc Lobliner of Tiger Fitness/MTS Nutrition was there when I went)! read more

For 100 Dollars.. it's decent, it's my 3rd month going, I'm contemplating on switching gyms just cause there is too many douche bags that hog up the weight stations, and decide to record themselves for every freaking rep.. there is no dress code and fat guys are allowed to walk around with no shirts and have bigger boobs than females .. I've tried to go different times to see if I can workout and get out, but people like to camp out at stations and take pics of their "progress" over and over ... I wish you guys would consider some changes even though I know you guys might not be hurting, but a little expansion would be nice considering theres a lot of space in the back that don't get used, you never put the basket ball court back and I'd like to shoot a few hoops every now and then... let's see how long I can deal with the nonsense before I go somewhere else. read more

A gym that follows the COVID19 public health guidelines? YES PLEASE! I have been a member here for about a month now and I can honestly say it feels like a safe place to workout in. It's an open gym with great ventilation and a large outdoor space to use. You are given a towel upon entry and there are cleaning spray bottles and hand sanitizer literally everywhere. Temperatures checked when you walk in. There is a maximum of about 40 people allowed inside at one time - yes they do count regularly. Masks are required (!) and rules are enforced (if they have to speak to you about your mask 3 times, they kindly ask you to leave). As someone who works in healthcare, I appreciate that the Barbell Brigade staff and patrons are taking this pandemic seriously. It truly says a lot about this gym and the owners/staff who run this place. I appreciate that they respect the community, the city, and the frontline workers that protect them. Thank you! Also, this place is SUPER CLEAN! They close for small increments of time throughout the day to sanitize and tidy up. Heck yes! A+ for that. Keep it up, Barbell Brigade. read more

Small venue yet appears to have everything you need. Went around 3PM and there wasn't a crowd. So no need to feel intimidated. Weights are in pounds and kilos. Bathrooms were super clean and even had AC. I want to say the best part was the music! Nice and loud and not just one genre which is greatly appreciated! OH! They also gave us some delicious protein bars and dope love-handle grips with their logo on it. I have nothing negative to say about this place. Definitely recommend this place! read more

Has a lot of places where you can squat and bench at and 4 deadlift platforms. Also the employees and people that lifts there cheer and pump each other up to help reach their fitness goals. This gym has the best facilities of any place I've ever lifted (and I have coached at a couple of very nice gyms in NYC). The gear is top-notch, and the gym is spacious and clean. Prices were quite reasonable when I was a member. However, if you don't want to be an extra in everyone's own personal YouTube dream, this is not the place for you. I know it's L.A., but I finally gave up and cancelled my membership after one too many days of tripping over someone's full-on camera rig on my way to go grab some weights. It's really a shame that the place is so encouraging of this kind of over-the-top narcissism, as it would otherwise be totally amazing. read more

This place has been my home away from home since October 2013 in Monterey Park. I've seen this place during its birth, it's highs and lows, and I've been lucky enough to watch it grow a flourish into the amazing business it is today. The parking here is a bit tricky now since it's all street parking, but a little walk towards the gym never hurt anyone. It's also located a little passed the Arts District and Little Tokyo, so if you're hungry before/after training, you're not far from food! This place is made for beginners, experts, amateurs, professionals--anyone who's willing to open their eyes to learning something new. I've learned pretty much everything I know about powerlifting here, and this place is where I've made some of my absolute greatest friends in the past 3 years. I love the energy here. The original staff has to be some of my favorite faces to see. They've done such a great job at maintaining the integrity of the gym and they welcome every member like they're family, whether they just signed up or if they've been a member for a long time. This gym is really one gigantic family that never stops growing. The motto here, is "Dominate Humbly". That means, leave your ego at the door here. Everyone who trains here is friendly and everyone here is out to better each other. There's no competition here, it's just us against ourselves. There are small lifters, and big lifters, but no one looks down on anyone here, which is what I absolutely love. It's such an awesome environment to train in. Everyone is encouraging each other to finish what they started, whether its helping each other improve their movements, or yelling across the gym cheering on the person who's just about to successfully complete a lift they've been working towards for quite some time. This year, they've become a 24-hour gym, so you can work out at odd hours if you really feel like it. Since moving to Gibbons Street, they've added a lot more equipment, and everything is such amazing quality. The gym is ALWAYS clean, the regular/specialty bars are never neglected. There are seminars held here periodically, and they are free if you are a member. Day passes have gone up from $10 to $20 now, and you can definitely call for further inquiries. If you buy a day pass, you can leave and come back in the same day if you'd like to. I hope anyone reading these reviews consider going to this place at least once in their life. I think it's absolutely worth it. read more

This gym is fucking awesome. I first found out about this gym through Instagram, surprisingly. I don't live in LA anymore, so it's not worth getting a membership here. I stopped by sometime last year to pick up a tank top - do check out their apparel, it's pretty bitchin! Today I actually lifted iron. About time! However I wasn't too pleased with the $20 day pass. For some reason I thought it used to be $10/a day but I guess I was mistaken. My visit today was here since I was helping my boyfriend film this product video. So most commercial gyms (actually most gyms in general) don't allow cameras of any kind in the gym. Bart's really really cool, & he let us film at Barbell Brigade for only a price of a day pass. This is awesome, considering Metroflex in Long Beach wants $400 for a day & Golds Venice wants $500 or something ridiculous. The inside isn't too big in my opinion. All of the deadlifting platforms are kinda jammed together & the layout is kinda awkward - lets say all the platforms are full & when you are getting out of the hole you're looking at someones ass going up. Yea they could rearrange the equipment so it's not so classroom like. Another awesome feature here: NO COMMERCIAL GYM MUSIC. You can plug in your iPhone/iPod & jam out to what you actually wanna hear. If I were to go here again, the main reason would be for leg day. Squat racks for days!!! you won't be fighting for a squat rack here. There's also a GLUTE HAM DEVELOPER & a HYPER EXTENSION machine (aka ass burning machines!). Oh & don't forget about the chainzzz. This gym also doesn't have air conditioning, so be prepared to sweat. Not too big of a deal, but it makes lifting that much more difficult & intense. But if you're really dying of heat, you can always just run to the bathroom (which is immaculately clean I might add) to cool off. read more

I was traveling from NYC and wanted to check out the infamous gym run by some of my favorite YouTubers. I was greeted by Sero who gave me a tour of the gym and the various equipment. The vibes in this gym are really special; everyone is friendly and just into lifting and having a good workout. It was a $20 day fee and it was definitely worth it. There were dead lift platforms, benches, and seemingly endless Squat Racks. There was a monkey bar section and turf strip. They provide belts, resistance bands, chains, chalk, you name it!
