I started my day at The Jyim and I'm happy I did! The good thing about morning workouts here is the available parking. You almost don't believe you're in LA. It was my first time here and I loved it. I was welcomed by the owner himself, Jyima! He explained how the gym was his name with an "a" at the end, a true marketing genius. I got there a little early and he encouraged me to use the bikes/ treadmill as a use to warm up for the class, which I really appreciated (thank you)! I joined Sophia P.'s HIIT Bootcamp and boy did it kick my butt. She did a great job at stretching us before and after the 60 min class. We knocked off the ab circuit prior to the interval training (she said it's usually done in the end). We then did two parts of interval training, each session had five stations. Each station was no longer than 2min. I was ugly sweating towards the beginning!! I loved it. It was a great workout. It was a load of information at the beginning. Sophia was super patient though, she did a great job of walking me through the exercise if I found myself lost. At one point, she corrected my form, which I was grateful for, I had been doing the exercise wrong all my life. I left learning something new! The class was small in size but big in impact! I left feeling proud of the work I had put in. I know they also offer personal training, if that peeks your interest. They have bathrooms, but no showers. Check them out! They also offer kick boxing, boxing, arms/abs/ass, muscle lean, booty build, and core/ cardio. read more

I always get a great workout at the Jyim. As someone who barely worked out, I was initially pretty intimidated to come here. But I'm so glad I did, and have been coming for classes and personal training for about a year! I train with Angie (@angiemitchellfitness) 2x a week. After my initial meeting with her, I felt instantly less intimidated. She's super attentive, responsive, and you WILL see results! For anyone who is just starting out their fitness journey and like me - knows little to nothing about training- I recommend you schedule a session with Angie! I've also taken a variety of classes with other trainers and always had a great time. Of course everyone's needs are different so take the time to talk to staff there and find who/what works best for you. The Jyim also offers classes on ClassPass for 5 credits (up to 3 classes a month, then I think it goes to 6-7 credits). For newcomers, I recommend Muscle Lean or Body Blast. They're great full body workouts to get a feel for the Jyim without absolutely dying. Then my personal favorite is Booty Build. My ass is sore for days but true to its name... if you take this class regularly you will build dat booty. And they also have boxing classes! Class sizes are between 5-10 ppl depending on time/day. Some classes lean more female, but overall I see an equal ratio of men/women there. Mats, towels, and a shower stall is available on site. Parking is available in the lot for $10. I recommend arriving at least 15min early to drive around for street parking. Time it right and you can easily find spots from people leaving the previous class. Also conveniently located in the arts district so you can grab coffee across the street or walk over to Urth for a well deserved green tea boba (jk an iced Americano is probs a better life decision but u do u girl) read more

Where do I even start?!?!?! This place has changed my life in so many aspects. Jyima just makes you feel comfortable right when you walk into his Playground. All classes and trainers are amazing but one trainer other than Jyima at this wonderful establishment makes working out feel like a breeze; her name is Sophia. Don't get me wrong the workouts are intense but you leave wanting more. I've been training here for almost a year. And I honestly have no negative remarks about this establishment. The good news about this place is that it has a parking lot in the Arts District. The bad news about this place is that it has a parking lot in the Arts District with a brewery and it's pretty pricey to park there, and you might want to reward yourself with a beer after your workout :P Parking aside, this place is amazing!! I first met Jyim when he first opened this place up - it was super tiny, and I'm so happy he's expanded! There's 2 main rooms where classes take place. One is mainly focused lifting and the other dedicated towards HIIT and boxing. I love this place because unlike some boxing gyms mainly focusing on cardio, this place teaches you the ins and outs of boxing, if you want it. If you want a technical boxing gym, this is your place. If you want a place that has cardio boxing, you can do that too. They're not judgmental at all and allow you to find your happy place! Haven't tried their boot-camp, but looks like he's got a 8week class too! I'll definitely give them a try! read more

Wow, what can I say! This gym is the total gem of DTLA. Took a few boxing classes here and the instructors really kick your butt, and I've been training avidly for more thann 2 years. They're extremely knowledgeable and friendly, and really make you feel like you're a part of their family. It's great for all levels of fitness, so don't be afraid if you're just starting out! I've been LOVING my unlimited membership at The Jyim!! After my apartment gym closed, I tried working out from home with videos/apps but it wasn't until I signed up for The Jyim that I could truly challenge myself while working out. For almost two months I've been doing the 6am Zoom Core & Cardio class with Sophia and the 9am Booty Build with Jyima. When I want to add more workouts, I use the recorded videos on Instagram. Highly recommend if you're needing a challenge and don't want to buy a full home gym during the pandemic!! Everyone is very friendly and welcoming, just enough push to get you working harder but fun enough to keep you coming back for more. read more

I've been going to The Jyim for almost a year, and i really love it. I've taken almost all of the classes, and they are always challenging and the instructors do a good job of mixing things up from class to class. They offer a wide variety of classes, the instructors are great, and the people are friendly and welcoming. The boxing classes especially are a fun, full body workout. I also think it's worth noting that this is a small business and Jyima works his ass off to make it great. The first class is free, so come check it out! read more

I visited this gym via ClassPass for their Cardio + Core class. The gym itself was what I expected for a neighborhood gym in the Arts District. Nothing fancy, but it was clean and seemed to have all the equipment needed to get in a good workout. The class instructor (wish I could remember her name) had good energy and was friendly. She led a small-group HIIT style workout to hip-hop beats alternating between cardio and core with short breaks. It definitely got my heart rate up, but I didn't feel as though it was particularly challenging. Also, there wasn't much emphasis on or corrections to form and with only 6 people in the class, I think I expected a little more coaching (corrections or additional push/motivation -- I feel like it's part of the reason you come to small group class like this). In this class, the instructor either showed or told us what to do and you got to it while she counted down the time between transitions. Normally, I'd expect to leave these types of classes spent...you know, in a good way, but instead I felt like I could have and maybe should have completed another workout, lol. I did appreciate the warm-up before class and the cool-down stretching after. Not sure if I'd return, especially to this particular class, only because I do the same exercises back in my apartment's gym. I can see how this would be a solid local gym though -- the people seemed great. And if your goal is just to get your heart rate up and sweat, then this might be a good class for you. Maybe I'll try boxing next time? Everyone seems to rave about those classes! read more

The Jyim should really be called The GEM because that's what this place really is. Jyima, the owner, is by far the best coach I've ever trained with. I use the word coach because Jyima is more than a personal/physical trainer. He is a life coach, who is dedicated to the self-care and self-love of all his memebers. The best part of The Jyim is that Jyima is not the only gem to be found. The entire team: Angie, Sophia, Emily, Lee, and Erica, are AMAZING! They are dedicated to my goals and they hold me accountable while providing tips and tools to help me reach my goal. Their attention to detail and knowledge of physical and mental condition is one of the aspects that makes them stand out from other gyms. This place is awesome! (This place is above Arts District Brewery - take the stairs outside the building.) This place is pricer than your big corporate gym like 24 Hour Fitness, but the classes are worth it and you can see results pretty quick. You can see change with people who have been going here for several weeks and the regulars look totally different from when they started. The only kind of bad things are: 1) Kind of hard to find - (look for Arts District Brewery not Angel City!) 2) Music is limited to hip-hop/rap 3) Couple of key points are missing from boxing classes (I worry about hurt hands & wrists, but if you hit up the big scary looking Korean guy, he/I will show you real quick how not to hurt yourself.) =) read more

I started coming here via discovering in class pass since end of 2018 and going more often 2019! I have to say the attention to personalized detail within classes and personal training has been great! I highly recommend Sophia Pascual as I discovered her when taking classes through classpass and really liked how she paid attention to form and doing it the right way regardless of the class size. Her energy made the hour to by so fast and felt like I got a good workout in each time! Fast forward I now so personal training and like how much she challenges, pushes and encourages me every time! LA has so many boxing gyms/trainers but none of them really fit what I was looking for... until I met Jyima! The vast majority of gyms try to cram 20-30 people into each class or are too serious/intimidating for a newbie like me. Training with Jyima has been a totally different experience. Earlier this year, I had a mediocre experience a boxing gym in town (lack of personal attention, dgaf attitude about form) and I left with LESS boxing knowledge after class. Training with Jyima couldn't be more of the opposite and it's been a blast. My sessions here have exceeded all of my expectations and then some. He's a very intuitive instructor and always tailors each training session to keep my skills progressing. Time flies by! This gym is equipped with both boxing equipment and regular gym equipment so you can get a wide range of exercises in. Whether your goal is weight loss, general fitness, or you just to pick up a few new skills, all of the equipment you need is here. In addition to private training, a variety of group classes are available everyday from morning to evening: Boxing: This is a small group class (usually 6-8 people) with equal parts conditioning and boxing (learning form, partner work, or heavy bag work). As someone who hated to work out, the Jyim has been amazing at getting me (and my friends) motivated. I've been coming for classes and personal training with Sophia since October. I suggest Iron Pump or Boxing for classes at first, they're super easy to follow and the instructors will help you out so you don't get lost! Training with Sophia has been actually so much fun-- she's helped me guide a healthier way to eat my food, which is so great for someone like me who didn't even know how to eat healthy at all! We've been training 2x a week for a while now, and she makes sure to account for how tired I am, what I've eaten so far, and modify my workout to get maximum results while making sure I'm not burned out. She's helped me get familiar with gyms, and become less intimidated to go by myself when I'm not training with her! read more

I've tried countless HIIT and boxing classes around Los Angeles through classpass and this is by far the best and got me to cancel my classpass membership! ALL of the trainers are fantastic and the workouts are intense but great for all fitness levels. I personally love boxing and here is where I learned the proper techniques and advance my skills every session. Class sizes are small so you get lots of personal attention and there's a bomb playlist that will keep you going. Jyima, the owner, is AWESOME and has created a great environment to workout! If I could give 10 stars to Jyima I would, he is awesome! I take his TRX and Core class as well see him once a week for personal training. He is so passionate, knowledgable, dedicated, and funny, that half the time I don't even realize how demanding his work outs are. He will push you to your peak and is an endless supply of motivating high fives throughout each challenging work out. I was able to get into a workout rhythm after 3 years. Only thing that sucks is parking but if you're patient, you'll find some. This place is incredible, definitely my favorite place to workout! It has that industrial workout feel, located in the arts district, Downtown LA on the second floor. They have Boot Camp, Boxing, and HIIT workout classes. Jyima is the owner and is he is amazing, he really knows how to kick your ass! I personally love their Tuesday night boxing classes, the energy is great, it is spacious, and that the boxing bags bring it to the next level. I love working out at The Jyim! The classes are fun but also challenging so you will get a great workout! I first went with classpass but after going to different classes, I ended up cancelling my classpass and bought a pack of classes here. They have a great variety of classes - TRX, circuit training, hybrid yoga, body sculpt and my favorite, boxing. The classes are small which I like and all the instructors are great. 3 weeks before my wedding I went in for my dress fitting and long story but my dress was too small. I needed to lose weight, stat. I had been going to The Jyim for classes so I asked Jyima what I should do. I figured he would recommend personal training but instead he gave me a simple plan to help me lose weight quickly and it worked! I fit into my dress and looked great on my wedding day and couldn't have done it without Jyima's help! read more

Jyima is legit. In fact, he is probably the most skilled trainer I've come across in LA and he is impeccably reliable and fantastic to work with. The Jyim is a great place to workout! I inadverdently discovered this place through class pass, as it was the closest workout studio to my place. I've been hooked ever since!! The classes are very challenging, but fun as well. Each instructor I've had has been great and I definitely feel much stronger now than when I first started going here. So far I've tried the TRX, circuit training, and boxing classes-- boxing is probably my favorite, but TRX is great and probably one of the more challenging classes. The environment is warm and welcoming and everything is provided from water to towels. Definitely worth checking out! read more

Still love taking classes here. Just wanted to update my review. I recently took the 3 day holiday boot camp. It included a meal plan and 3 consecutive days of HIIT circuit workouts. I don't think I've ever physically challenged myself more. But I did it! And I was able to lose over 5 pounds and more than 1% of body fat--which is a lot for me because I'm pretty small! Phenomenal facility and staff! Everyone including the owner is so friendly and down to earth! Took the AM HIIT class with Coach Erika and it kicked my butt! I've tried one boxing class and the owner is very friendly, attentive, and welcoming. Though it was a crowded class, I was still helped on proper posture and technique. Also, I did not feel pressured to sign up for anything unlike other gyms I've visited, their website is easy to use, and they generally follow up on communications. They're also flexible on cancellations which I appreciate, given the nature of my work which can be unpredictable at times. I highly recommend this place and it's right above Art District brewery. Just go up the flight of stairs to the second floor and through the doors. Took a while to find since the doors are closed but follow the hip hop/rap music and you'll be fine. read more

I go to Jyima when I want to feel soreness in every core muscle for days after his class is over. Jyima is a personal trainer and teaches various classes at UEvolution in downtown LA. His core class involves some intense circuit training, and the "BEAST" hold supposedly gets easier. I love to end my week working up a serious sweat, and Jyima's class definitely makes me do that. read more

I can't say enough about Jyima as a personal trainer! He is so knowledgeable about nutrition and health, he can cater a work out and meal plan to your needs. What I love most about him is how quickly I see results! Being in the entertainment industry, it can be difficult to stay in shape 365 days a year. I have been in difficult situations with a last minute gig and need to be ready in two weeks. Jyima makes it happen for me every time. The workouts can be grueling at times but unlike with other trainers, I actually see the results I WANTED! Specific results!
