I called beforehand (because I get nervous about taking classes lol) just to confirm if this gym was beginners-friendly... when I got there the instructor introduced himself and was such a tremendous help as far as ensuring my form was correct. Super excited to finally be able to try out F45 training. The location I picked in arts District. I was at first I was concerned about parking but to find out that they validate your parking so this is a win-win. Since this was my first time, I was a little anxious ongoing, but as soon as I walked in, I was welcomed and had a little walk-through of what was going on. It's pretty much the class that I took was a 40 set out a hit training 10 different stations for reps on each station you have an option of working out the upper body or the lower body so you can switch it up everything was already set up so it was perfect. They had different levels of resistance and different weight levels. It was also great because they had videos showing the exercise before the whole exercise gun. The instructors actually went over each exercise before hand while during the exercise, there were a few that I never done before, so it was very helpful instructors were walking around watching everyone's form, motivating us and also correcting or fixing any improper form so overall my experience was great. Pandemic weight is real... which is why my fiancé and I decided to check out outdoor fitness classes! F45 is the best by a long shot. The trainers and community at F45 are what keep us coming back. A few of our friends have been members for some time and we were impressed that everyone knows each other by name. The class is welcoming and you have people of all shapes, sizes, colors, and experience levels coming together with a common goal of finishing a high-intensity 45 minute workout. The sanitation and social distancing is top-notch. Masks and temperature checks are required. Everyone has their own stations and workout space that is separate from neighbors. Fresh towels and sanitizing spray are provided and everything is sprayed down by staff and students before and after use. Resistance (weight lifting), cardio, and hybrid (a combination of the two) classes are offered daily, with multiple class times available for all types of schedules. Before working from home, I could only take evening classes, but now I have the flexibility to take morning classes as well. Online classes are also offered for those who want to workout from the comfort of home! Scarlet, Paul, Bobby, Alex, and Amanda are excellent. They all bring expertise and knowledge and offer great alignment cues during workouts so you get the most out of your workout and prevent injury. I've been coming to this location since they opened in August 2018 so this review is long overdue. If you're fresh off that big gym, cheap membership, and giant post work crowds type of grind: know that F45 is the most expensive monthly rate for a gym I've ever invested in and im not even enrolled in the current rate (I have a limited time promotion rate). At the non discounted rate of $30/drop in class, and $264/month unlimited classes... My bank account hurts for y'all cheapo's like me. But compared to other specialized class based studios, these rates are pretty normal. If you're new to HIIT, know that it's a bunch of high speed, interval based workouts. IMO, if you're looking for some fast paced pressure, these workouts put free form workout routines to shame. With screens at the front of the room, numbers on the floor, constantly changing workout formats (sets, rounds, pods, laps) and (sometimes) as little as 10 seconds to get to your next station, HIIT keeps you on your toes physically and mentally. It's so much fun. The F45 Arts District location is awesome. Of course every location comes with it's demographic, but the owners and instructors are truly exceptional in caring for and building a community. The crowd is culturally diverse and come in all fitness levels. Sure, sometimes I wish I could drop in for free weights, but I've never been a very plan-my-own workouts type of person. I love the quarterly challenges F45 hosts (worldwide) and this location does a wonderful job of providing resources and building teams to accomplish nutrition and weight loss goals. F45 Training, specifically the Arts District location, has been the best gym experience I've ever had. I've been a member here for one year, and I'm the fittest I have been in my adult life. It's seriously the first gym I've been a part of where I have seen significant physical transformation. If you're on the fence, I would highly recommend signing up for the trial and going as many times as you can in your first week. I can almost guarantee it will hit different than any other gym community you've experienced. Over my last 12 months at F45, I've lost over 35lb and cut my body fat % in half. When I joined I didn't even think this was possible lol. Here are some highlights: 1. Coaches. They are amazing. They all have an amazing balance of encouragement, energy, and giving you feedback on technique/form. They're super intentional about getting to know members. I think after only one week they all knew my name (that really impressed me). The relationships between the coaches and members here is really wonderful. 2. Workouts. Workouts are legitimately addicting. I have a hard time taking a rest day because I have FOMO, not even exaggerating. They're fun and have a great balance of strength training and cardio. After working out here for a year, I still find them very challenging (in a good way!) and it's been super encouraging levelling up and getting stronger. I never imagined that every morning I would wake up excited to work out until I found F45. Before joining F45, I used to hate working out and never understood why people spent money on torturing themselves. Even when I signed up for a gym membership, I went to the gym to take a shower there. It's because I never had fun, I knew what to do, and hated working out alone. HOWEVER!!! I just hit my 100th class 4 months after I joined F45! How??? 1. Different workout everyday I loooove a variety of exercises (combination of cardio & strength), weights, and equipment, which is never boring, always new, and challenging. 2. Group exercise It's my first time working out as a group and I was a little intimidated not being able to keep up since I had almost zero muscle :(:(:( But at F45, I still work out with people but ay my own intensity and speed rate. This whole group training motivates myself to push through the extra rep by having people who are on the same journey as me and cheering me on to do my best. 3. Genuine & authentic coaches It's been hard to build a community during COVID, but here at F45 I can find support and guidance from coaches. They actually remember my name, give attention, and inspire me to push my limits and be my best. They are super enthusiastic about turning people's cant's into cans!! 4. I finally became a monthly member in April 2023 and it's the best decision I've ever made for my personal mental/physical health and fitness. The push for me to become a monthly member was the pandemic weight I had gained over the last few years. Also, I tried other F45 studios but the vibes at this studio is incomparable. In May 2023 I signed up for my first 45-day Challenge with the goal of losing weight. I did this by taking classes almost daily and counting macros. The biggest lesson I learned from this Challenge was how important nutrition is, especially getting enough protein to build muscle. I learned so much about food and how my body changed in response to my eating habits (carbs made me feel bloated!) Paul is great at providing guidance to help you reach your goals. By the end of the Challenge I lost 6.6 lbs. in body weight, had 15% fat loss and lowered my body fat % by 2.7%. I was really happy with the results and I even won the Coach's award, which was a surprising bonus! To continue the momentum, in September 2023 I signed up for my next 45-day Challenge. This time I didn't count macros since the healthy eating habits that I established from the previous Challenge carried over. I found that I craved healthier foods, which satisfied my appetite so I didn't need to eat as much or overeat. I continued to work out daily at the gym and that helped me get stronger. Back in May I could barely do one unassisted pull-up. Now I am up to 7 unassisted pull-ups. I found that consistency is key to get to this point. By the end of the second Challenge I lost 11.7 lbs. in body weight, had 20% fat loss and lowered by body fat % by 2.8%. I ended up being the female winner for the Challenge! In the last 4 months I have lost over 20 lbs. in body weight (lost an additional 2.2 lbs between the challenges). I feel the strongest I have ever felt in my life. The journey for this transformation could not have happened without the amazing trainers, members and community at F45 Arts District - and for that I am eternally grateful. It was only after I became a monthly member that I was able to form and foster incredible friendships. It's so motivating and fun to work out with friends. I know members who drive out of their way to come specifically to this studio because it's worth it. The trainers and members are so supportive and they always elevate and push me. Never had a gym membership in my life- until now and I love it! The quality of exercises and instruction here is great. There's a high level of intensity and challenge in F45 workouts, but also room for modifications if you need to take it slower. Coaches are very attentive to your form and any other special needs. This is hands down the best gym in the LA Arts District. They offer group training and an excellent support team. What I love about them is the staff as they are the reason this place is so popular. Bobby whom I believe is the owner/manager is extremely thorough in reviewing all the details of registering and will talk to you about everything you would possibly need to know on how to be successful in hitting your goals. He reviewed the importance of starting at a pace that is comfortable to ensure I do not over exert myself. He asked about possible injuries and my level of comfort with workouts. He checks in periodically with me which lets me know he is looking out for my best interest. Then there is Paul whom I swears never takes a day off. He is there EVERY morning at 6AM. I have so much respect for this guy, he is excellent in articulating the entire program where it is easy to comprehend how to work each station. He also walks around to ensure that we are all doing our workouts properly. Bruce is truly a gem as he not only monitors every persons performance and posture, he will discreetly push you further. He can see the true potential/strength of each individual and will tweak your action to peak your performance. He is VERY particular on proper posture, Bruce is dedicated to his job and his participants. Than last but certainly not least are Scarlet and Michelle. Two power houses that are a ball of positive energy. They work the room and motivate you to push through each set. They make everything look effortless and are examples of what I aspire to become. I was intimidated to even think about joining F45, but thankfully I had a friend who was a member and I started going to classes with her. Soon after I realized that there was nothing to be intimidated by and wished I had started sooner! There are stations set up all throughout the gym that have different workouts for the day. The instructor will go through each station to demonstrate the workouts. There are also monitors that show the demonstrations for you to refer to while you are working out. You will be assigned a partner who you will be with you during the workout so you won't feel alone and lost. The instructors are amazing! They are always watching everyone and adjusting you if your form is incorrect and there to help you modify any workouts that don't work for you. There are a variety of weights laid out in front of you so you can choose the best weight for you. The energy there is great! Everyone there is very encouraging and supportive! I did as many personal workouts you can imagine, from the apps, to the strategies from YouTube fitness stars. Nothing stuck with me until I did F45. I became part of the 100 club purely because it made exercise enjoyable, and when I finished I felt like I had accomplished something big for the day. All the trainers were incredibly gracious and helpful. Paul was always personally attentive and pushed me further than I thought I could go. Amanda and Angela were always a foundational smiling face that made class such joy, starting my day with happiness. Anthony definitely pushed me the furthest with his tough love approach, every time I finished a class with him I was proud of myself. And Jacobo brought such a unique and motivating energy that filled my soul each time. These were my core trainers that I had class with, each with their own individual style that gave me exactly what I needed in my fitness journey, and beyond. Even the newer trainers such as Kara were developing their unique brand of motivation that made going to F45 every day a unique experience. To me, that's what I needed in an exercise, something fresh every time. Let me start off by stating I'm a runner; not a "gym rat," not a "CrossFit" athlete, and/or whatever else you want to call someone who lifts heavy and does squats for a big peach. I will say I used to be a high school athlete that played all seasons: volleyball, basketball, and ran track. But, even then, did not like going to gym. I hike and run on the beach more than I'm in a physical four wall gym. With all that said, I seriously I'm not a fan of any type of "gym/box/etc." F45 Arts District is a "studio" and does not feel like a gym. At all. Which, makes me a big fan. - It doesn't smell like a gym - It is amazingly spotless - It isn't set up like a typical gym - Have I mentioned how clean it is More importantly, the workouts are 45 minutes! If you would have told me even just three months ago that I would not only be pulling myself out of bed to get to 5:30am workout classes - but actually looking forward to it - I would have told you that you had mistaken me for someone else. I was a big hit the snooze button kind of girl. Since I finally decided to make my health and fitness my top priority, F45 (and specifically the Arts District location) has been an integral part of this journey. While getting out of bed when it's still dark out is still a bit painful, I can honestly say that I look forward to my morning classes, the coaches and seeing the other 5:30am regulars! I've always worked out off and on over many years, but I've never really felt connected to a specific workout until now... here's what makes F45 Arts District stand out: 1. The variety of the workouts: They are always changing, so you don't get bored and are always challenged. The classes are intense/hard - but they go by quickly! 2. The coaches: I realize this can be subjective - as everyone has their preferences. The coaches at F45 Arts District are substance over style (they have style too!). What I mean by this - is they are not just yelling to pump you up without any specific direction. They are high energy and motivating, but also authentic - and take the time to check your form, offer suggestions as well as encouragement. Some places pump the music so loud you can't even hear the coaches. The music is loud enough to get you hyped - but the coaches don't rely on that to solely do the work. They are tuned in and engaged. 3. The community: If you keep a regular schedule, you start to see the same faces - and there is a mutual camaraderie that develops. There are definitely people in my classes who are incredibly fit - and those who are just starting out that - but it's a safe/judgement free space for everyone. 4. Group Fitness: I have made the excuse in the past that I didn't like group fitness gyms - that I wanted more flexibility in my schedule and more variety in my classes. But what I've found is that I'm better able to keep my commitment to work out with a group fitness program. I plan ahead better - and that community I mentioned in #3 knows if you're showing up or not! Plus - I push myself harder in group fitness classes - and the consistency let's you see where you're improving (aside from the numbers on the scale). 5. The challenges: I'm participating in my first one now, so I don't know what the objective results are quite yet. But I find it fun and engaging to take part in goal setting - and it's nice to have the support and interest from the coaches outside of class. I just hit my 100 class mark (lots of starts and stops), but have been consistently hitting the early morning classes 4-6 days a week for about a month now - and I can say that it changes the way I feel about myself as a whole, how I see myself. An example would be one class focusing on cardio and endurance, then the next day is strength and legs, and another day is a hybrid of a full body workout and resistance. Before joining the gym, I was working out during the pandemic on my own and felt I was missing something. I was missing the extra motivation, and drive to reach my goals faster. F45 workouts are dynamic, fun, and efficient. The members and trainers in the Arts District are friendly and encouraging. I love the atmosphere. Before F45, I didn't know how to keep being motivated to work out. After working out in this gym since September, I would say it's become a habit that I can't live without! I go 4-5 times a week and feel that it's similar to brushing my teeth. Which is really shocking for me. My husband usually says my spirit animal is a sloth and I am usually a couch potato. The gym is full of all different people from all walks of life. I felt pretty intimidated at first that I couldn't keep up with others or have the right form. But now I know not to compare with anyone except myself and my own progress! No one is judging me and everyone is super supportive. I've gone from being corrected at almost every station in the beginning to now being left to my own devices 80-90% of the time. The most nerve wracking thing I've done was the F45 Challenge for 6 weeks. It consisted of healthy eating and working out/team challenges. And I surprisingly won!!! Again!! I am a couch potato!!! If I can do it, I know anyone can do it. I've noticed (and my friends have noticed) how my body has changed and how I fit my clothes and my energy levels feel alot better. My strength levels have gone up and I'm proud of the squats I can do now! All from just doing a less than hour workout. Lastly, I've found something that me and my husband like to do together besides sitting in front of the tv and eat. Woo hoo! read more

New year, New you right? I thought it would be fitting that my first review of the decade be about my favorite gym. It's that time of year when everyone is making fitness/diet goals, doing sober January, cutting out sugar etc. Let's be real, fitness goals are hard to keep, but F45 makes working out fun (getting your a** kick type of fun). I've been to several F45 locations in LA and the Arts District location is definitely my favorite. I decided to use up all my passes for the other locations and stick to this gym. The space is smaller than some of the other F45 locations, but the trainers (Bobby, Paul, Scarlett) and community make this place amazing. The trainers give everyone their full attention and will correct your form if needed. They are able to explain and demonstrate movements I couldn't get before. I've been to some other F45 locations where the trainers are on their phones during class. NOPE. Tuesday and Thursdays are strength training days (think heavy weights to get that bootie growing). Monday, Wednesday and Friday are cardio. It's not running on the treadmill boring cardio; you're go through different stations doing things like burpees, abs, rowing etc. Trust me when I say the 45 minutes goes by fast. I drive 15-20 minutes every morning to make the 7am class. It's so worth it. Come for the workout and trainers. Trust. read more
