Really beautiful place. The admission was $5 per adult, and it was well worth it. There were other visitors, but it wasn't overwhelming. The gentleman who helped us was very kind and gave us a map of the trail and grounds. There are picnic tables and benches around. The trail is very easy to walk. There are steps along the way. I have a bad knee, but nothing was very strenuous. The trail is lined with a creek that makes it's way to the falls. There are two different spots to have different views and take photos. I found being here very peaceful. The weather was a bit chilly and very windy otherwise I would've loved to sit there longer. Really important bit of info..... there are no restrooms available so use the facilities somewhere if you need to before arriving. I would recommend visiting! Thank you Tryon Garden Club for creating this exceptional opportunity. An easy hike with a well cared for trail. There are wide slabs of slate rock to prevent erosion. There are well maintained hand rails to keep you steady and safe from the steep sides. I especially liked the many benches along the way to allow access for hikers of all types. We passed many seniors and families with children who stopped to rest. The falls are the thing. Just magnificent in every way. Thank you Lord for your majestic creation of nature. The cost will be $5 bucks but you won't mind kicking in the contribution to maintain this amazing facility. There is adequate parking in a gravel lot and a well maintained bathroom. Gene at the front gate who checked us in was very nice and gave us a little overview before we started the hike. read more

I have not been to Perason Falls for almost 50 years. My wife and I have been married 43 years and we went there shortly before, or after we were married. I had pictures of us standing on the large flat rock in front of the falls. However, sometime over the years we lost the photos. We're planning a trip back to the falls to recreate those times past and to take more pictures. read more

We were so lucky to find this waterfall! Totally worth the five dollar admission fee for adults and a dollar for children. It is the most beautiful quarter mile hike to reach the highest and largest part of the waterfall. They were benches and picnic tables throughout the hike and very thoughtfully placed and different levels of running water throughout the walk. It was a very easy hike as it was mostly flat. Highly recommend if you want a peaceful, easy and quiet walk to a waterfall. read more

The whole family from a 3-year-old to grandparents in their 60's enjoyed this hike up to the beautiful falls. Not real strenuous and a beautiful tree covered trail to keep the hot sun off of your backs. Still need to be careful though because the rock steps can be slippery in spots when wet. P.S. God bless the Tyron Garden Club: named for the young civil engineer, Charles William Pearson, who surveyed the mountains for the building of the Southern Railroad, from Spartanburg to Asheville. The Tyron Garden Club purchased the property from the Pearson Family in 1931 w/ a loan secured through the Saluda Bank & paid it off in just eight years. Otherwise the property would have been logged & the 200+ native flowering plants, ferns, & trees would have been destroyed. read more

This pace is beautiful tranquil and serene. The drive to get there is long and windy- slow down and enjoy the nature. This is a private park maintained by the local garden club. It is cash only to get in. $5/adult $1/child. Worth well beyond what you pay to walk well kept trails with plenty of benches to stop and gaze and take it all in taking photos up the trail proved to be a good idea. The pay off of the falls at the top is fantastic. Just Nature doing what it does. We also saw a pair of crayfish! snake and other insects and critters. This is one experience to not miss if in the Saluda/Tryon area of North Carolina. I have been visiting Pearson's Falls since the mid 90's and have never tired of it. The waterfall itself is the tip of the iceberg-the picnic areas and well supported trail leading to the waterfall make for a great family, date, or even solo experience. I would recommend bringing lunch for a picnic right near the main waterfall area. Holidays might get slightly busy but it's usually only a few families there otherwise. read more

So cute! Such a perfect waterfall hike! The walk to the waterfall is just about the perfect length. It's long enough to feel immersed in nature, with the most adorable stepping stone rocks lining the pathway. The path follows the river, with lots of mini-falls along the way, so the entire walk has the refreshing sounds of falling water. This was a planned lunch break on a drive from Columbia, SC to Pigeon's Forge, TN- I had my friend from CA that had flown in and I wanted to surprise her with a great stretch of the legs and a wonderful lunch view! I have spent time in Saluda before- but this was new to me. A private property, there is an entry fee- but it was worth it! We parked (there wasn't a lot of parking left) and used the restrooms before heading out. As soon as you step out of the car- the fresh earthy smell hits you and you start breathing in deeper. Anytime I am in the woods I just feel like coming home~ especially in the mountains. It's a very short 1/4 mile hike to the base of the falls. I count us lucky that day- there were artist easels set up along the river- while no one was around painting, we poked around to see all the works in progress. I am an artist- I love seeing the different vantage points, perspectives, and the set ups! It was my two favorite things mashed together! Art and nature. Emily just laughed at me and my inner kid was gleefully enjoying every minute. I was snapping pictures every step of the way. The trees were whispering secrets to us, the moss begged us to reach out and touch and the water playfully ran down the mountain teasing us. I loved the old bridge just before the falls, the echos of history. We ate Pub-subs at the base of the falls and enjoyed the lush greens all around us and the roar of the falls drowning out any life stress! We didn't have a lot of time since we were traveling- but it was a wonderful break and a treat for just the two of us to explore together! I hope to be back again and explore more of the area! read more

This place is absolutely gorgeous. The walk up to the waterfall is easy and has stable stone steps along with stable dirt paths. I carried my baby on my hip easily up to the waterfall and back. On the walk up, you walk right along the water in anticipation of getting to the source. The actual main falls are massive and there is a sectioned off viewing area where you aren't allowed to cross at a certain point, so no swimming unfortunately. There is a $5 fee to get in, but it's definitely worth it. Because of the current circumstances, only a certain number of cars were allowed inside the gates, so I had to sit in a line of cars for a while before being able to go in. Other than the wait, it was a great experience. read more

This was one of my many stops on vacation in North Carolina. I thoroughly enjoyed this small hike through this beautiful waterfall here in Hendersonville. As far as I understand, this land is on private property, but open to the public. I can appreciate the owner's kindness for allowing us to tread these beautiful grounds. There are a few benches and picnic tables located in a few locations also. They were a lot of breathtaking views and moments of peace during this hike. We decided to visit Pearson's Falls at the last minute while on a day trip to the Hendersonville area. After taking a dirt road to the entry, parking wasn't too bad. The park has restrooms and picnic tables. The trail to the falls was nice. It's is well-maintained. There are runs of steep areas; it's not as flat as described. The falls are great and the trail takes you to the base. It's a quick quarter mile. All total, we were there less than an hour. Our 7 year old daughter said it was the highlight of the trip. read more

First thing you need to know: This is a natural waterfall located on private property. The owners of this land have opened it to the public, but there is an entrance fee of $5.00 pp over 12 years of age. Children 6-12 years old are $1.00 and under 6 are free. Proceeds are used to maintain the park and trail. The land was originally owned by a family as a recreation home, but was offered to a timber company in 1931. The Tryon Garden Club decided to step in and save this beautiful acreage from milling. Several hundred acres were purchased and are still owned by the club today who grant access to the public. THE HIKE The well preserved trail is only 1/4 mile long, and leads from the parking area to the falls. The hike is picturesque and feels very much like you are in a storybook. I wouldn't have been surprised to see Little Red Riding Hood playing with Hansel & Gretel or Thomas Kinkade painting a scene for one of his famous forest illustrations. Lush flora and hardwoods mix with attractive ground covers like ferns and wildflowers that blanket the land beside the trail. There are over 200 species of rare wildflowers and plants. There are also rich looking mosses and lichens (fungi) covering stones and fallen tree bark. The river that flows downstream from the falls provide the sound of rushing water as birds and butterflies go about their daily business. It is nothing short of ideal. Beautiful picnic pavilions, stone bridges and decorative fences also provide the trail with character and utility... but beware of the many outcropping of stones and tree roots along the trail. My 11 year old learned a very valuable lesson about listening to your parents when they tell you not to run. It's amazing how fast a pre-teen kid that thinks they know more than you turns into a baby who needs to be carried back to the car. This has been the second time my back and legs suffered at the expense of my children. LOL. We had three other boys with us on this trip, so most likely it was an ego bruising more than anything else. RULES * Stay on the trail. Do not climb slopes or the rocks at the falls. * Do not pick flowers or harm any other vegetation or wildlife. * No fires are permitted. NO SMOKING. * Clean up. Trash containers are provided. * No wading, fishing, grills, alcohol, or pets are allowed. THE FALLS Once you arrive, you will notice the base of the falls has been roped off to avoid injury. The spring-fed falls are easy to see and are best experiences when water flow is at it's peak. Kids will enjoy the may large boulders they can jump to cross the stream (just be careful). I went to Pearson's Falls on a Saturday afternoon, This is a private property located on the Foothills of the Blue Ridge mountains near the South Carolina boarder about 15-20 miles Southeast of Hendersonville, NC, between Tyron and Saluda, NC. There is a $5 entrance fee to visit the property, but it is well worth the visit. This property is well maintained and it is a short walk (about a 1/4 mile) from the parking area to the 90 foot waterfalls. There is also a small little nature trail on the other side of the parking area. This place is worth visiting if not interested in spending a lot of time at a place and enjoying the falls, and if not interested in a strenuous hike. This place can easily be seen in less than 1 hour, but one can spend more time there if one wants to just enjoy the beautiful nature and just relax. We stopped by in the late after noon to find a beautiful trail leading to even prettier waterfalls. The trail is easy to follow and navigate. The falls are so pretty. Amazing!!! You drive aboit 2 miles down a dirt gravel road to get there. Its a private property that is extremely well maintained and beautiful. I have hiked all over the smoky mountains and this waterfall is better then any I have been to. It is a beautiful 1/4 mile climb to the falls which are 70 feet high. Beautiful stone pathways and multiple benches and picnic tables all along the trail. Lots of places to stop and rest. I am in horrible shape and it was not difficult. Most of the terrain is flat with steps. This is one of my most favorite hikes of all times. Just one beautiful thing to look at after the next. The sound of the creek all along the pathway read more

Great waterfall with a short hike in! Perfect for those who don't have the stamina for the longer hikes. There are railings on the areas that climb so in makes in very easy for novice hikers. There are a tons of picnic tables scattered throughout so you pack some lunch and have a picturesque place to enjoy your food. The first time we visited Pearson's Falls was in the spring of 2019, shortly after moving to the area from out of state. We were so impressed that we planned to bring visitors to see the Falls later that summer. We bought a number of passes so that when we visited with our guests, we would use the passes for admission to avoid the awkwardness of sorting out who would pay for what. We also thought it would make it easier on the person at the gate. When we returned with our guests, we got a very poor reception from the gatekeeper who seemed angry that we had come. Three critical issues were 1) we arrived an hour before closing time; the gatekeeper was already locking up and annoyed that we were there, 2) we had brought our little dog that we planned to leave in the car, but the gatekeeper absolutely would not allow the dog on the property under any condition, and 3) one of our guests was black. When my wife told the man that the previous gatekeeper, who we had purchased the advance tickets from, had assured us that we could leave our little dog in the car, in the parking area while we made the hike to the falls, he told her she was not telling the truth. My wife and I were both completely embarrassed by this man's meanness and his disrespectful demeanor. We had given the place such a buildup to our three friends, who were visiting us from Michigan. In an attempt to salvage the situation and provide our guests with the opportunity to see the Falls, I immediately volunteered to take our dog outside of the gate, meaning I gave up my ticket. I sat in the woods with the dog on the other side of the road so that there would be no question that the dog wasn't on the property. The gatekeeper reluctantly took the passes for my wife and our friends and allowed them to see the Falls. While waiting off property, with more than 50 minutes before closing time, I watched the gatekeeper turn away 2 more carloads of potential visitors. He told them they were too late and should have planned better. With 20 minutes to spare before closing time, my wife and our guests drove out of the gate and picked me and the dog up. Our guests said they liked the Falls, but not the attitude of the gatekeeper. He had made them nervous. Our black friend, a man in his 70s who is one of the most gentle human beings I know, said that he felt from the start that the gatekeeper had an attitude because of his skin color (our friend's wife is white). So I'm summary, the experience that we had at the Falls was ruined by the attitude of the gatekeeper, and I don't think we will ever go back. The previous gatekeeper we saw on our first trip was a very nice man. While the second gatekeeper (one of many?) might have been unrepresentative of the Garden Club, his attitude ruined our love for those Falls and we will never go back. Hope others always have a better experience. read more

It's a perfect spot for reflection, photos, a picnic, or sharing with friends. A relatively easy hike (about a quarter mile each way) the path is lovely with all kinds of flora/fauna and the flowing brook alongside. The falls themselves are beautiful- spectacular- and you can sit on benches or rocks to gaze. Don't miss it. The $5 entrance fee goes to the Tryon Garden Club who maintain this park.
