We were scheduled to pick up our new 2022 Odyssey on Friday, March 5. Upon arrival at Pearson at the appointed time, neither the car nor Daniel Jackson was in sight. Someone on staff called Mr. Jackson and he drove up fifteen minutes later. Meanwhile, another employee drove our car around front. It had obviously not been prepared for sale because our floor mats, cargo liner, wheel locks and side door guards were missing. The solution? We could put in a Service Ticket for the extras and come back later. Why couldn't our car have been completely prepped in the days prior to pickup? We noticed, after more waiting, that the extras not included in the car had been included in the purchase invoice. Finally, Sales Associate Jackson agreed to meet us at 11:00 A. M. on Monday, March 8 for pickup of the add-ons. When we arrived, he informed us that mid-afternoon was the earliest our extras could be installed. We do not have our plates yet and dread thinking of what inconvenience faces us trying to get them. As previous owners of 3 Odysseys, an Accord and a Civic, we could see that our sales associate was not qualified to answer questions. Horrible. I bought my car from here a couple years ago have have been getting it serviced here since. Each time I come the experience is worse. I scheduled an appointment for 7:30 am a couple weeks ago to get my tires rotated and oil changed. Not only was I stuck here FOR AN HOUR AND A HALF waiting for my car to be finished they came over and tried to scam me into getting my filters and struts changed when they do not need to be. Months ago when I got my state inspection they told me my brake pads were almost gone and I declined getting them changed and today they said they were totally fine but found other "issues". When a wheel bearing went bad I came and had it fixed under warranty and when I picked my car up it was still making the same noise. I had to drop it back off and they blamed the noise on "a sticker" and finally got rid of the noise. Total scammers who try to defraud women. I also asked for a trade in quote as I was looking to buy a new vehicle and they never gave me one. Guess they don't want to sell cars. I went in simply to get a second key made for my minivan. They quoted me ~$150 and that it would be ready in an hour. I made an appointment for 7am and was hoping to be in and out. 4 hours later I drove away without a second key, and they had "fixed" an issue that wasn't an issue. They wanted $400. The customer service was awful. I asked for the manager who didn't come, and have asked he call me which still has not happened. I would give them zero stars if that were an option! I had a recall procedure performed in another state that was done incorrectly. I called the Service manager Johnnie Willis during the Christmas and New year Holidays and explained the situation. On the first day possible after the holidays, he said he would address the issue. He kept his word and called me, asking me to bring the car in to PH. Needed a power steering pump for a 2004 Pilot. Was quoted 1100.00. Called Firestone across the street and was quoted 390.00. Firestone did the repair a few months ago, no issues. Been taking our cars to Pearson for years. I understand things are different in a post-COVID world, but this was pretty bad. I called and left a message with the service manager. The call was never returned. I would suggest making a couple of extra calls before servicing your vehicle with them. European Autohaus is nearby, as well as Firestone. Per the service manager, Pearson Honda WILL NOT honor a service plan purchased from a different Honda dealership . I purchased my Honda and a service plan from a dealership outside of the Richmond area, and went to have my Oil/filter change and tire rotation only to be informed they will not honor the coupon. It amazing how other Honda dealerships have accepted this PURCHASED service coupon without hesitation, but not Pearson Honda. I had been worn buy several local citizens to steer clear of Pearson Honda and now I know why. No worries on my end, as I will have my car serviced in Va Beach when I return home over the weekend. I noticed that most of the reviews to date are about Pearson's maintenance department, but my experience was purchasing. I believe that anyone who is realistic has to admit that purchasing a new car can be a mixture of emotions. It is one of the largest purchases we make in our lives. Of course, the new, slick auto will be amazing, but along with it comes with big payments and the dreadful purchasing process. I wanted to stay in the area and support my local businesses, so I visited in advance to check it out. I chatted with a salesman and the sales manager. I took both of their cards. They were pleasant and professional, but not pushy. Yeah! When I returned a few weeks later to possibly make a purchase, there was a little confusion. The salesperson I had dealt with was no longer working there and the sales manager could not initially find my paperwork. Once this was all resolved, everything was incredibly smooth. We had done our research, knew what we wanted and were wiling to pay. The negotiations were minimal. We couldn't believe it! Next, we were shuffled off to do all of the purchasing paperwork, nice, but again seemed somewhat disorganized. Got exactly what I wanted! The entire process was the quickest we've ever experienced! Always had my Honda Accord serviced at Pearson and was very satisfied, until both of my factory installed front tires wore out with less than 35,000 miles. The back tires were fine. We always paid to have the tires rotated per the recommended maintenance schedule. When we went to get the front tires replaced, the tire store told us we should have regularly rotated our tires. When we told them we did, they said it sounded like a crime scene! My senior citizen wife is the only one that drives this vehicle. Mark your tires before you pay to have them rotated, regardless of where you take the vehicle to have it serviced. Verify the work was done! read more

Made an appointment with the sales person to see a vehicle they had online. Drove 40 minutes out of my way in rush-hour traffic. I passed a salesman as I was walking in the door. we did not speak. I went to the desk and asked for the person with whom I had the appointment. She came out to greet me with the other salesman and handed me off saying since he had greeted me he was going to take care of me. He asked what bought me and I told him he went to the back was gone two minutes came back out and told me someone had already put a deposit on the specific vehicle. He said heWould call if the deal fell through. That was all. In and out in two minutes after driving all that way. I'm sure Pearson Honda has telephones that they could've called and let me know. I pointed out that executive order says you do not have to if you have a medical issue and was told that I need a note from my doctor and then they will consider it. (updated 10/12/20) Update 10/12/20: The Service department contacted bridgestone and it appears that they will honor their supplementary mileage warranty for the factory installed tires. So credit to bridgestone! I was given a $60 discount per tire. Pearson Honda is not discounting any labor cost or offering any other assistance... Again this on a 2018 Honda CRV, with under 20,000 miles, that was purchased new and has always been maintained at the the dealer's service department. I still find this unacceptable but it is clear that I will be no further compensation. 10/8/2020 (don't often post reviews but this needs to be said) Beware of the service department, the Pearson Honda dealership and the quality of "wearable" parts installed by the dealer. Purchased a new 2018 Honda CRV from Pearson Honda in November of 2017. On Oct 8th of 2020 the service department conducted scheduled maintenance and a VA state inspection on the vehicle. The rear tires were excessively worn down (1 32nds) and we were recommended to be replaced. These tires were new with the vehicle and were always used in normal driving conditions with 19,967 miles on the vehicle. Honda would not cover the replacement of the tires and charged my wife $299.98 to install 2 new tires, matching the original tires that were installed. Then charged $89.95 to align all 4 wheels. At no point was my wife given a choice of tires to install on the vehicle and no information regarding the brand/model/manufacturer of the tire was provided... no warranty information was provided. So to recap I just paid $389.93 for 2 new tires and an alignment on my new 2018 CRV with less than 20,000 miles. Keep in mind I have used this service department for all my vehicle maintenance since the vehicle is still under warranty and have followed all recommended maintenance. Furthermore the service department seemed to think there was no problem installing new tires on a vehicle that had front tires that were worn to 6 32nds on a vehicle that is all-wheel drive (this was even recommended). All of this is completely unacceptable and differs from most mechanical recommendations for all-wheel drive vehicles. When I asked if there was a mechanical issue with the car that could lead to the excessive wear on the rear tires (on the phone after the shop visit) I was told that they didn't check because no one told them to... I was understandably confused. We take our vehicle to the service department to have them recommend the best course of action to maintain the vehicle, as I am not a car mechanic and don't have the expertise to recommend or detect issues. later the service department "advisor" revised the statement to, we checked all the normal causes of this and nothing was wrong. So now I have two older tires that that are clearly poor quality, paid for 2 new bad quality tires to be installed 'to fix the problem'. All on a vehicle that is new, under warranty, and has less than 20,000 miles... I think the service department saw my wife and figured they could rack up a bill that would be paid with no complaint... I have called the service department and they seemed to think all of this is completely fine. However the parts department is going to call me in a few days, after contacting bridgestone to see if there is a warranty on the factory installed tires or even if there is anyways to reduce the cost of the new tires they just replaced (and I paid for in full). Keep in mind all of this is only because I called and was upset with the situation as is. My wife regretted going along with the recommendation but felt pressured to go along because the state inspection my not have passed... She was also there for 3 HOURS for a "scheduled appointment". This appointment was for an oil change and state inspection. I can't blame her for wanting to get out of there after waiting 3 hours. I will update my review if the situation changes TLDR - Watch out for: poor quality wearable parts, pressure based maintenance recommendation, lack of transparency regarding parts installed, and excessive maintenance costs on warrantied vehicles, excessive wait times. Avoid the service department, and shop for your Honda at another dealership if you want the wearable parts (tires, brakes, etc.) on your vehicle to last longer than 20,000 with out major service fees. read more

We are starting the search for a college vehicle for our daughter. While my wife dropped our van off for service my daughter and I decided to look at a few vehicles. We looked at all the vehicles inside and she sat in a few. We asked reception to call a salesperson so we can see the inside of a HRV. My daughter wants to find a height and console set up that is easy to use. A woman walks up and just looks at us then finally says can I help you. First red flag she did not introduce herself. Then she says what model, I say we are not familiar and just want to see the inside. She says she will bring the stock model, so then I say bring the top model and we can go down if we need too. She comes back before pulling it around and asks of we want to test drive. I say no, we just want to see the interior. Then she asks for my drivers license. I stood up and told my daughter let's go and and left. This is called implicit bias, why do I need to show my DL to see the interior of a car? You know why? Because she wanted to see where I live, i.e. what can I afford, etc. We were in and out of every car almost every car on the floor, no one asked to help us. She couldn't even bother to tell me her myname, but she wants my DL so she can know mine and where I live. Thanks but no thanks. read more

Near the end of April I did my due diligence and requested quotes online from 2 different area Honda dealers, a Mazda, dealer, Ford, and Hyundai. (I wasn't necessarily stuck on a brand). Almost immediately I was inundated with return emails, phone calls, etc. What stuck out was the higher degree of professionalism displayed by Pearson's internet manager. It just seemed like everyone else wanted to play "the back & forth game." Pearson's folks seemed like they really wanted to sell a car, Yes, but also wanted to help me make the best buying decision. There is VALUE in buying from good people folks! The Pièce de résistance is found in a great man by the name of Frank Goodman. Polite, professional, UNsalesy, listens to your every word, and puts you first. At this point it was very late at night and he had been there since the AM. I would have been grouchy and irritable. Not Frank. Kept my wife and I involved and informed in the entire process. He explained everything in detail. He gave us his contact info AFTER purchase and said, "I'm here for you. My job starts AFTER you buy the car. Call me if I can serve you or help you with your car in any way." Who does that? His sales manager Mike Crist was equally polite and a great guy overall. Even the finance manager, Brad Abrahamson was respectful, courteous, kind, and definitely respected our wishes of not buying an extended warranty without pushing the issue. They even have an amazing young man as a service writer by the name of: Brian Brown. Another consummate professional. This company's training or recruiting/selection dept is clearly doing their job! I had an appointment at 9:30am to replace an airbag that had a recall. When making the appointment I made sure to ask how long it would be because I'd be bringing along my 11 month old baby who is only entertained for so long. They said, "Oh no problem, it'll only take an hour to an hour and a half. And we have a kids play area!" I get there on the day of my appointment 15 minutes early. They take my vehicle and direct me to the waiting area. I go into the kids area which is a small closed off room and am severely disappointed. They had one small bin of old toys. Which wouldn't have been a big deal, but, every single toy was VISIBLY dirty. As if they had never been cleaned. It looked like mud had been smeared on the bin, the toys, even the books, AND it was all sticky. Once it was just me and my child I blockaded the toys away from her because I didn't want her to play with the toys and put them in her mouth. The walls were dirty and it didn't even look like the floor had been vacuumed. I wiped down the little kids table they had so I could put some puff snacks on it for my daughter. After wiping it down I saw my Lysol wipe was black with filth. What the heck? This is a KID'S play room!! After all this, it turned into an empty space she could be loud in and play with toys that I brought from home. After about two hours I heard a muffled name be called so I got up thinking it was probably my name. They don't have speakers in the kids area so there was no way for me to know unless I went to ask. Lugging the diaper bag and holding my child, I go up to the counter and ask if my car was done. I SEE my car in the garage. They look up my name and say that it looks like they're just waiting on the paperwork and then it'll be done. "Sweet!" I thought. Thinking I'd be out of there any second and not wanting to go back into the filthy play area, I sit down right by the office. A few minutes later I see them drive my car away. Weird. At this point my daughter is getting sleepy and fussy and probably hungry. I did not bring a bottle because I fed her right before getting there and I was under the impression I would be there 1.5 hours max. After half an hour of sitting there trying to entertain my kid, I see them drive my car back into the garage. Excited, I wait for my name to be called. Nothing. They guy that drove it in just walked away. I get up and walk around a bit because my daughter is very tired and cranky at this point. After another half hour I finally give up on waiting and ask AGAIN. This time I asked someone else. "Hi, I'm sorry, I know you're busy, but I've been waiting for three hours on an appointment I was told would take one. My daughter is hungry and tired. Do you know if my car is done?" She looks up my name and then has an expression on her face like "What the heck?" And walks over to another desk and asks for a reprint of my paperwork. A REPRINT. She comes over and gives me the receipt and says "That's your car, ma'am, you are good to go." Wow. My car had been sitting there done for at least half an hour and it didn't seem like anyone was even going to tell me. THREE HOURS later I'm heading home so upset. I had errands i couldn't do anymore because of this. Right when I drove away, my poor baby fell asleep. This experience was so unprofessional and unless I have another recall I will not be a returning customer. Clean your dang kids area and be respectful of other people's time by being honest about how long it will take and be attentive and communicate! Especially to mothers of young children! Those aren't huge things to ask. read more

Troy Bell was my sales person and he was fully knowledgeable of the CR-V and a super easy person to work with. The price we discussed via email was set with no hidden issues or switches once I arrived at the dealership. When I arrived on the first day, Troy was readily available as planned and had already positioned the car right beside the showroom. It's funny how every time I take my Honda here something goes wrong within a few weeks. I've always went to Honda dealers, the people are friendly but clearly don't perform inspections as they should. Serviced my oil change on 4/15 and said my transmission fluid is in good condition. Less than a month later check engine light comes on, run the code at autozone and it points to transmission. I check the fluid and it is completely black....hmm didn't they just check this three weeks ago? I will not be going back. They are very difficult to get you in the shop. I was told I could drop it off on a Wednesday but they wouldn't be able to get to it until the following Monday. If I could give the sales department a "0" rating I would. We came up to pick up our new 2020 CRV Touring Hybrid car after leaving a $500 deposit. We had a written contract that Nelson wrote up with the offer stating our trade in would be "$4,000 if running or $3,000 if not running" for our Tahoe. I had the alternator repaired and we drove over with the Tahoe. At that point, all was well and they had taken off the plates, etc and prepping the new car. Then, Nelson comes over and says he can't honor the offer of the trade-in because there were scratches on the side of the doors and some paint chipping by the hatch. I had sent him 17 pics of the car beforehand - he made the offer after looking at all the pictures (of which there were pics of the doors and hatch, etc). Secondly, he cut out the salesman we had been working with. Beyond unprofessional. He reneged on the deal so we took our $500 back. Two days later, we went to Colonial Honda and purchased our CRV there. They were awesome. I have told everyone I know NOT to go there and conveyed by story of horrific C/S and to date, everyone has heeded my advice and gone to Colonial where C/S is awesome. Shame on you Pearson! I had a great time! After a seriously crappy experience at a different dealership, it was a welcome change. Frank Barlow did a fantastic job walking us through the whole process, answered all of our questions, and made us feel really good about the whole thing. The finance department jumped through lots hoops in order to get us a best rate. I'll be repeating the process here over again the next time I need a car. read more
