Went in at 1030 and was told that they are not serving breakfast anymore, then I asked for a sandwich and was told that they have too many orders and can't take anymore. Parking here is impossible since the lot is full of vehicles that are not customers. Skip this rude establishment and go somewhere that wants your business. read more

This was an okay sandwich. For roast beef, a soda, and chips it came out to 17 dollars. The bread was incredibly dry and the roast beef was rubbery. I wasn't expecting Boar's Head but maybe something a little better. The guy inside seemed less than friendly and was short as he was ringing me up. They have an assortment of chips and sodas as well as a decent sized menu of sandwiches to choose from. Felt it was expensive for the quality of the sandwich but I appreciated the view of the water and tables. read more

Best sandwich in San Diego. I usually get the Italian but all of the sandwich's are great and the chili is next level. Thank me later and go try this place out read more

Cute small deli shop by the bay :)) we ordered a grilled cheese and one of the torpedo sandwich and was super happy with both! The torpedo sandwich was pretty massive and did not skimp on meat. The bread was nice and soft too. I would say though that it could use a bit more lettuce! Either way, super happy with the sandwich and the vibes were so cute too. There's tables nearby facing the water! Service was super friendly too :)) read more

We loved our sub. Delicious and authentic. We found the deli by chance and happy we did because it was tucked away and easy to miss.

Don't listen to the complaints from these bougie yacht owners. Its a fuel dock and deli. You get what you get. Don't expect the atmosphere or customer service of a waterfront restaurant. DO expect some fucking delicious and satisfying food. A few days ago my friend got a tuna melt from here and let me have a single bite of his sandwich. From that ONE BITE days ago I was hooked. I could not stop thinking about it. Last night I woke up dreaming about it and just had to get my hands on that tuna melt. I called in my order today and they had it ready for me when I arrived. It was just as delicious as that one bite I had days ago. The bread had the best golden crust I've ever seen on a piece of toast. I don't know how they do it. It was crunchy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. Per someone else's recommendation, I ordered it with jack cheese. It was all nice and melty on the sides of each slice of bread. The tuna inside - the heart of the sandwich - is so well seasoned. I didn't even like warm tuna before this experience but now this is my favorite sandwich of all time. The only downside is I am now physically and emotionally dependent on this tuna melt and will need to eat it regularly so I don't have withdrawals. read more

Pearson Deli - PEARSON DELI TUNA MELT W JACK CHEESE. MY FAVORITE SANDWICH EVER. Perfection. - Delis Near Me - San Diego, California

Pearson Deli is a hole in the wall deli - located in Shelter Island area of San Diego. It was a Sunday morning, and I wanted to walk around (get some steps in on my FitBit). My manfriend suggested Pearson Deli to go eat, so that we can go right into walking around Shelter Island afterwards. There were 2 guys behind the counter at Pearson Deli. When I asked how long they have been around - the older gentleman said 21 years. I tried their Deviled Eggs (some other Yelp review said it was "worth the occasional drive from LA"). I also tried their Pastrami Sandwich (with everything). I'm usually not a fan of pickles or mustard in my sandwich, but for some reason, the combo worked. Bread and meat were really fresh! I had a nostalgic moment (like I was having some fresh pastrami from NYC). There is a little seating area outside the Deli to enjoy the San Diego weather / breeze. I also might add - GOODNESS. The bathroom (at least the ladies one) was REALLY clean. I was preparing myself for a gas station type of cleanliness and was pleasantly surprised. ENJOY!! SUPPORT SMALL BUSINESSES!! read more

Love this cute little mom and pop deli on Shelter Island. Located near the fuel dock for boats in the area, this deli is a tucked away gem that guests/travelers in the area might miss if they aren't paying attention. We were lucky to spot it while walking around Shelter Island and since I'm always a big fan of a good sammie, I figured we'd try them out! Look for the white sign with an arrow that says deli and you'll know you're headed in the right direction. The business is ran by a sweet older couple who promptly greeted us when we walked in. I ordered the pastrami and cheese on sourdough and my boyfriend went with the Italian hero. Let me just say their sandwiches are MASSIVE and worth every penny. They were so tasty and so filling, I almost couldnt finish mine! They also have snacks and beverages for purchase and a few side options as well if you are looking for something to pair with your sammie. I was glad we tried this place out and would be happy to try one of their other sandwiches on another occasion. read more

Tiny little deli on the Shelter Island marina. I ordered 10 sandwiches for a business lunch, dropping off a written order when they opened. At noon I picked up the order, which was individually bagged with each person's name on them. All the comments were very positive about the enormous size of the sandwiches, how fresh they were and the great prices! Definitely a great stop for a big yummy sandwich! read more

Just a simple deli with amazing subs and it sits over the water. They also make great deviled eggs

Really great sandwiches! The veggie on sourdough is one of the best in San Diego! The owners and employees are super nice and it's a great place to relax over the water. read more

My bestie always hits this place when visiting from Colorado so we thought we would give it a try for our make shift picnic on the island. The couple that owns the place are so cute. He told me they had been there for 20 years making sandwiches. We ordered a turkey/cheese on white with everything on it and a pastrami/cheese on sour dough with the works. The sandwiches are very hearty, I could have easily split mine. They sell the "Dirty Potato Chips" brand there which I love. I also would like to call out that they have clean restrooms which is a huge bonus along with an outdoor seating area on the dock over the water/harbor. Dog friendly!!! read more

Cute little Deli, this deli has good sandwiches. Good on the go simple menu. We got turkey and cheese sandwich and pastrami and cheese. They're a good size for the money. read more

Prices are a little higher but not too high. I was impressed for my first time. The BLT with avocado, was very good and all the veggies were fresh. Good amount of bacon and Mayo. They portioned the amount of food well. My brother had the ham and cheese sandwich and he said it was simple but definitely delicious. I will be coming back. I would highly recommend this place. It's near a great view so why not! read more

It was my first time going and I have to say it was an excellent sandwich. I had the pastrami on white with everything, and it was all great. Tomato was fresh, good ratio of condiments to meat. Came out in less than 5 minutes. Quaint but still has ample seating and very clean inside. The person at the register, who I assume was the owner was very nice and polite. Highly recommend for a delicious and highly affordable sandwich! read more

Great sandwiches! Speedy and everything was fresh. Service was good. We called and picked up.

The jumbo sub was more than enough for to hungry adults. At $11, it's the best value on Shelter Island. The warm and crusty sandwich was delicious! read more

This is a cool little deli shop with a good sandwich. My first time here and i went with the turkey with everything on it (onion lettuce tomato cheese mayo mustard). The thing was pretty big as you can see in my pic compared to the pop and my hand. As for taste and freshness...it was spot on. Very good. No complaints here. If your near the Marina's and need a quick bite, stop in. Around back they have nice outdoor seating where you can view the marina and watch the bots go through. read more

Love these sandwiches, Order ahead of time pick up. Alway delicious and I am picky.

They have awesome sandwiches! Everyone I have tried was over and beyond delicious. Now, be prepared to wait, sometimes a pretty long time, but it is usually worth it. The best bet is to call in the order. If you have time and want the best sandwiches on Shelter, this is your go-to-place! read more

Wow! This place is still around. Use to come here 10 years ago when we had our boat. Was awesome to pull right up to the fuel dock, grab ice a hundred gallons of diesel and hit the deli for a few sandwiches. Service is a bit slow and the menu is limited but it's a little gem on the water. There are tables behind the deli you can sit at and watch boats of all sizes come in for fuel. If you're into boats or have a boat on San Diego any and need a deli sandwich -- dockside parking is available. read more

The old man running this place isn't very friendly, but his team puts out a pretty damn good sandwich

Amazing spot on the point for sandwiches and on the water. Owners are awesome too super nice family. I recommend the Italian torpedo or the pastrami. You can tell they really care about the quality and consistency. Check them out! read more

I don't suggest getting used to the gobs of filth flying around on the ceiling fans no matter how much you like their sandwiches. It looks like a barnyard back room in there but barns usually have unripped screens that work at keeping out disease carrying flies. But I digress. First, a club sandwich has ham in it. And, technically, is double decked and cut in diamond quarters, but we'll forget that as obviously too futuristic for the goals of this trench. I can see why people like the turkery and avocado sandwich passing as a club though. I like atmosphere as much as the next guy and I expect some flies and smells around a boat and fishing dock to add to the scene, but sticky tables and leftover rotten food on a littered deck is not my idea of fun in the San Diego sun. How these people are able to keep this city and port authority contract is beyond me. City coffers could be collecting lots more money if this place knew what they were doing. It looks like a backwoods outhouse in there and not the highly desirable and attractive tourist destination in the 8th largest market in the USA that it is. read more

Closes at 2pm, walked in at 1pm, older gentleman looked at us, waved us out, we thought he was saying hi. We said hello, he didn't say hello, he was waving us out. He said, we're closed. May be good food, but they (he) lacks customer service. Rude read more

I love this place. The owners/proprietors are so adorable, and their deviled eggs are worth the occasional drive from LA! The tuna sandwich is good, and the egg salad sandwich is fantastic. And they're huge! The egg salad sandwich was enough for two of us. (Though we each did have five deviled eggs prior to diving into the sandwich.) If you go here for the deviled eggs, call first to confirm that they haven't sold out of them. read more

Pearson's Deli is a great example of a three-star location that's definitely worth the occasional visit. The sandwiches are solid, if not great, and the view and quiet are incredibly relaxing, even if the environment itself is a little run down and poorly cared for. The cold cuts are cold cuts, but they aren't the saltiest or least flavorful I've had. As far as cold cuts go, I'd guess they're pretty good quality. the cheese, which I'm guessing was supposed to be provolone, lacked any real distinction, but its as good as you'll get at subway, or Jersey Mike's, or etc... the real draw here is that the family making the sandwiches behind the counter seem like great people; a hard-working family just churning out pretty good lunches and slinging sodas and ice teas to folks working on, or visiting, the marina. In this, they are very successful. It's also the view of the marina, which is simultaneously bustling with the near seam-splitting excess of personal yachts, trawlers, and other assorted watercraft while maintaining the peaceful and deep serenity ocean front seems to offer. The biggest thing keeping me back from four stars is this: the environment of the eatery itself really holds it down. There aren't any awnings or other covering to keep the sun off your skin and the tables are old and beat up. Still, if you're looking for a no frills, down to earth, decent bite to eat and an out-of-the-way spot to get a slice of quiet on a weekday afternoon, I think you could do worse. read more

This is the Fuel Dock deli. No joke, it is a fuel dock. But it is a deli on top and it's wonderful. The sandwiches are very tasty, fresh and large for the hungry lunch hour. After my Shelter Island shenanigans for the 4th of July, I was feeling mighty tired and mighty hungover. My friend works in the area and she recommended this deli, particularly their BLT with Avocado. GO THERE. NOW. YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED. The sandwich is ginormous. Tons of bacon, tons of avocado. Really, what else do you need? We called ahead, and our sandwiches were readying within about 10 minutes. SERIOUSLY. GO. read more

I miss a good deli especially since moving from the East Coast. THIS was a great place. I asked for a whole sandwich and didn't realize the insane size! I think I ate an entire foot long sandwich. Everything tasted fresh and the breads were just amazing. Everyone I was with just devoured it all. The staff was great, fast service, and you can look out into the harbor. I will be craving this place. I think the owner Oscar was behind the counter. He was great, right down to business of sandwich making and order taking. SO. GOOD. read more

Walking in daily for a cookie and a soda, I couldn't ask for a more friendly place. Always the best sandwiches and food, most killer cookies, and coldest brew on Shelter Island. Whoa Deli! I'm a huge fan of this place. Drove past it many times on the way to work and finally decided to try it. The BLT (+Avocado) is how a BLT should be. Plenty of bacon, toasted just right bread, perfect amount of may. Really they know how to make a sandwich. Reminds me of the mom+pop deli shops back on the east coast. Thanks Pearson Deli! Oh and one more thing - Deviled Eggs! read more
