I have been to Princes Square Shopping Centre many times but it was only recently that I noticed…read moreDwell existed! I had never even heard of the company before! I popped in for a little look around and was very pleasantly surprised. Dwell sells all sorts of home wear from big furniture items like sofas and beds to more decorative items like candles, cushions and art. Everything is very neutral and classic in style and is of excellent quality. Some items in here would make a fantastic base for decorating your home to which you could add little quirky bits and pieces to put your own stamp on the place. I think the prices are actually pretty reasonable in a "you get what you pay for kind of way". Unfortunately I can't afford any of the larger items, but if I could I would definitely invest in a few! I fully intend to go back and purchase a few of the smaller (and cheaper!) items such as a lovely lamp I saw.

Dwell is probably my favourite furniture shop in existence; it's just a shame I can't be bothered…read moreremortgaging just to buy a table from here. The two floor store has all your weird, wonderful and quirky furniture needs for a contemporary home, but everything is so extortionately priced that whenever I go in, it's really just for window shopping. I think I've actually bought about 2 things from here and I've been in about 20. If the shop was slightly more affordable, it would be 5* without a doubt; I absolutely love the place. But it's not, so no 5th star!

Clearly there is some confusion with this listing, as the Maia I went to was a wee basement shop…read morefull of knick-knacks and quirky gifts on Bath Street, not the huge glass-fronted expanse with coffee shop that people talk about in the reviews... the Buchanan Street one closed in 2011. Anyway, I was on the hunt for a particular 'Glasgow Patter' tea towel and was guided here by my online personal shopper Briony (that's Yelp for you!). Sadly, they only had a Scots patter one, not the Weegie version, so my search continued. But it looks like a nice wee store if you're looking for a gift or greetings cards. It's easy to walk past though as it is in a basement. (Didn't this used to be 23rd Precinct?)

An eclectic mix of moomin candle whirlers, ipad desks, quirky jewellery, amazing cards and everything in-between. Well worth a wander if you are searching for the illusive gift for that hard to buy for sod at the bottom of your Christmas list who wants for nothing. I was in for stocking fillers for the girls and did not leave disappointed. Smudge is going to be utterly delighted with her scarf wearing panda necklace and Santa was pleasantly surprised at the less than terrifying price tag. With the additional 10% check in discount I felt positively virtuous and absolved of all the sinning I had just been committing in Waterstones. Where my restrained buying for other people plans had failed spectacularly. By the time I had reached the till I had already decided this was going to be a five star review but then the wonderful staff at the till tried to help me lug the buggy up the stairs. I say tried because I may have been using the handy basket at the bottom of the buggy to hide all the books bought in Waterstones, meaning that the buggy weighed more than a family hatchback and actually couldn't be lifted even by two people and Puff just had to suck up bumped up the stairs. A great wee shop that I'll probably be back in again before Christmas. If only because I need some of the amazing Christmas cards with huge Rudolph noses and really my tree isn't going to be finished until I have a rocket decoration hanging from it. I didn't even know I needed a rocket tree decoration, well now I do...

A lot of shops like this get a bit funny if you're just having a look - but the lady in The Living Room was lovely and didn't mind at all. All the furniture is arranged into little "rooms", which makes the whole place feel really homely. As well as all sorts of furniture - you'll also find smaller furnishings such as vases, candles and lamps. There are some really nice gifty bits and pieces that would make great presents, and I even spied some gorgeous wooden Christmas decorations on the counter. Prices range from £10 or £20 for small furnishings and lampshades to £2000 for a sofa. Although quite a bit pricier for furniture than a certain unnamed Scandinavian superstore, the furniture in The Living Room is infinitely more individual and stylish and much, much better quality. Worth a trip - even if it's just to dream.

I agree with Katie A. in that this really is a shop to visit, even if just for a wee wander. My…read moreguy and I stopped in here a few weekends ago after a lunch date in the west end. Neither of us had ever been in before, but my guy reminded me that Jack and Victor of Still Game shot some scenes in this shop way back. Even though this shop is called The Living Room, it really caters to the whole home and depending on your style, there really is something for every room. We were in looking at bedroom sets and found one that we really liked, and put it on our list of contenders. The staff in this shop are helpful and polite, but be warned, they don't take kindly to shoplifters. Since it seems there were only two people on staff, in a pretty large shop, they have cameras and notices everywhere that CCTV is in operation. No bother, I'm sure that helps in feeling safe. Towards the back of the shop were bits and bobs of sale items, ranging from discontinued furniture to outdated candles and pillows. Everything still in really great shape, the discounted price just makes them that much sweeter. We left happy with ideas of how we want to furnish our house and even stopped by their larger store in Merchant City (which wasn't as nice as this shop) and fully plan on coming back for other decorating needs.
