As the others have said, it's off the main road in Shawlands but it would take less than 2 minutes to walk there, so it's worth a diversion. It's a sweet gift shop with a focus on sewing stuff too - you can learn how to make your own cushion covers, for example. I was in looking for a little housewarming gift and card for a friend and loved having a nosey around while the woman working offered me helpful suggestions and showed me some of the new stuff they had in. They have a big range of stuff; from jams and fudge, to candles, prints, kids clothes/toys, lovely fabrics and cushions, bunting and some jewellery bits and bobs. I liked how it's all presented and easy to find something nice without too much bother - I ended up just grabbing a card (The Grey Earl batboy card) and a wee tote bag as a present which was under a tenner. Paper Plane is one of them, especially if you're looking for a gift (for yourself, or someone else). There's nice crafting kits, as well as lots of things for kids. A nice range of mugs, jewellery, wedding stationery, books, artwork, candles - typical gift shop supplies. There isn't much that falls into the realm of "tat" which is always a good sign. They had on display a Lisa Donati (formerly Psychopants) tea towel - "You will always find me in the kitchen at parties" which always makes me giggle, so obviously they're stocking local artists which is great to see. I'd recommend you spend a day of your weekend heading to check out some of the delights of Skirving Street and make sure that you leave plenty of time for a nosey around here! A lot of it is a wee bit expensive for me I have bought a few unusual presents for people here. They also do a good range of cards and I use it a lot for that. They stock some nice local things - I have a Shawlands mug I bought here and one year they did Xmas cards by a local artist showing people shopping on Skirving Street in the snow. It's one of the shops that helps make Skirving Street such an interesting place to shop.

I have seen her purposefully shut the shop grate on someone's head before, I think because the women was looking in the door as she was closing. I had to help the injured lady down the road. When you go in there is no customer service & no please or thank you at the till. Just a nasty scowl the entire transaction. However if you get any other staff member it's the complete opposite experience. You have the deals & merchandise explained to you & offered gift wrapping the works. The older lady with glasses really does let this place down. I peep in to see if she is there before shopping there. Real shame as I love to shop local but she doesn't seem grateful for the custom.

The shop looks great from the outside, and if that isn't enough then the window display will definitely lure you in. It's bright, it's colourful and it's all a celebration of our beautiful city (Glasgow, der) which means it gets a whopping 5 stars from me. Stephen O'Neil is a digital artist with images from across Scotland. There's cards, small prints and then framed work so no matter what your budget, you'd be able to find a great gift. In addition to his own stuff there's a great selection of designers on display - Bonny Bling in the jewellery cabinet and Grafika notebooks, for example. Topped off with a welcoming vibe and reasonable prices, I'll can see that I'll be returning here regularly!

When I popped in a while back, we got chatting with Stephen himself - very friendly guy, knowledgeable and in no way pushy when it came to selling his work. Pricewise, you'll find postcards, coasters and small prints from a few quid, right up to big trifectas, costing hundreds. Most items were pretty affordable. I'll definitely be back soon.

This is a new shop in De Courcy's Arcade (but the entrance is on Cresswell Lane). It's a massive shop, really well laid out and with some seriously amazing gifts - ranging from kids stuff (Sooty & Sweep hand puppets!), nice stationery, cute koala cushions and tshirts. There's quite a bit of niche stuff too, like Dr Who, Breaking Bad etc which is worth checking out if you're into that kind of thing. Prices are really reasonable and I have my eye on the large Kilner jug with a tap on it - I'm sure that's essential for an upcoming Yelp event, surely? This wee shop was a life saver as I needed a lovely 50th birthday present for my friend…read more I had been wandering around aimlessly in Hamilton not having a clue what to buy for someone who looks nowhere near 50 and acts like a 20 year old. Hmmm?! It was only when I was heading for a wee bite to eat I saw this lovely looking shop. It was like a ray of light hit me, and I knew as soon as I walked in I would be able to find "something special". The lady was absolutely lovely and a great help. I explained what it was for and she came up with a candle beautifully wrapped with a personalised tag with my friend's name and saying happy 50th. It was perfect! The shop was beautifully laid out with lots of varied gifts for all occasions you can think of. Upstairs I found out was a wee coffee shop, but it was shut the time I got there, it's only opened for a while from 9.30am - 4.30pm. The lady told me they have lots of homemade goodies and their coffee is sourced from Matthew Algie. I will definitely need to stop by for their coffee shop next time. My friend was absolutely delighted with her present, so much so, she asked me where I had got it as she wanted to get something similar for her friend's birthday. Result! Quite frankly, anyone who shoplifts from here deserves our sympathy as opposed to disdain. But you know, I don't absolutely detest this place. OK, so I wouldn't thank anyone for a gift from here but every city has these places and quite frankly any visitor who takes the stereotypes seriously is not the sort of person I'm bothered about. After all, I'm prone to buying the odd fridge magnet when I visit a place, but it doesn't mean I think all French people eat baguettes or Belgians worship little boys peeing. The stuff in here is definitely at the lower end of tourist tat but there's nothing wrong with visitors to Central Station, situated beside here, picking up a daft wee souvenir to take home. I concur that the Braveheart nonsense is a bit grating but hey, it's one shop. At least Glasgow city centre is not peppered with them like another city I could mention.

I've popped in here on occasion, mostly because my boyfriend loves his poorly-made Saltire bottle opening keyring and I was trying to find a replacement for him. Another time my friend was looking for a cheesy Scotland t-shirt for his American flatmate as a gag gift. They have the usual touristy guff, Jimmy hats, emblem t-shirts, some cheap clothing, mugs and keyrings with Scottish clan names and definitions aplenty. It could be worse. I've been to lots of shops in, say, London and Paris that are way more overtly stereotypical and crude with their tourist paraphernalia. Overall, it's a decent tourist shop, nothing is terribly embarrassing or poorly made, and although there are shops that do Scottish merchandise better, this is a good place for tourists.
