I actually thought it was more art gallery than gift shop so was very pleased when I realised they've managed to combine the two perfectly. The shop looks great from the outside, and if that isn't enough then the window display will definitely lure you in. It's bright, it's colourful and it's all a celebration of our beautiful city (Glasgow, der) which means it gets a whopping 5 stars from me. Stephen O'Neil is a digital artist with images from across Scotland. There's cards, small prints and then framed work so no matter what your budget, you'd be able to find a great gift. In addition to his own stuff there's a great selection of designers on display - Bonny Bling in the jewellery cabinet and Grafika notebooks, for example. Topped off with a welcoming vibe and reasonable prices, I'll can see that I'll be returning here regularly!

His trademark style heavily relies on black and red - if you don't like those colours, don't waste your time coming in here. Otherwise, consider it a classic colour combination, and just go with it! When I popped in a while back, we got chatting with Stephen himself - very friendly guy, knowledgeable and in no way pushy when it came to selling his work. Pricewise, you'll find postcards, coasters and small prints from a few quid, right up to big trifectas, costing hundreds. Most items were pretty affordable. I'll definitely be back soon.

Paper Plane is one of them, especially if you're looking for a gift (for yourself, or someone else). There's nice crafting kits, as well as lots of things for kids. A nice range of mugs, jewellery, wedding stationery, books, artwork, candles - typical gift shop supplies. There isn't much that falls into the realm of "tat" which is always a good sign. They had on display a Lisa Donati (formerly Psychopants) tea towel - "You will always find me in the kitchen at parties" which always makes me giggle, so obviously they're stocking local artists which is great to see. I'd recommend you spend a day of your weekend heading to check out some of the delights of Skirving Street and make sure that you leave plenty of time for a nosey around here! A lot of it is a wee bit expensive for me I have bought a few unusual presents for people here. They also do a good range of cards and I use it a lot for that. They stock some nice local things - I have a Shawlands mug I bought here and one year they did Xmas cards by a local artist showing people shopping on Skirving Street in the snow. It's one of the shops that helps make Skirving Street such an interesting place to shop.

I actually visited by accident though as I was driving past and noticed it was open, so I popped in for a quick visit. This is a gift shop focussing on selling items made in the Glasgow/central belt area, which I think is a really lovely idea. I am forever buying presents for Aussies back home and it's always nice to be able to get something really local. I had a bit of a browse and saw at least 35 things I would love to own - there's really nice jewellery, mugs, felted animals, tote bags, candles, tea, prints, tea towels, cards and lampshades. There's stuff for babies but not too much stuff (sometimes nice gift shops get overrun with baby stuff!) - bibs etc. I picked up a little iron-on kit (see picture) for £5, there's matching badges to go with it too. Suzi who runs the shop is super sweet and welcoming, and will help you find whatever you need. She mentioned she is going to be hosting small classes (max 6 people at a time) in the shop - crochet, calligraphy, screen printing etc which I think is a great idea.

Their motto is all about selling products created by local people around Glasgow and central Scotland. What a wonderful idea! It's a great wee shop for cards and gifts, there's some lovely hand crafted items. The stock changes all the time which is great, you never know what you'll find! I have a beautiful Glasgow skyline necklace the mr found in here. And the sell ovenbird coffee beans! Which was great to find out :) They also run classes and work shops some evenings, although I've not made it along to one, it looks like a lovely space to work in. And Suzi is lovely! I lost half an hour last time I popped in just browsing and chatting. :) just wish I was about when it's open more often!

However, as Eleanor pointed out it does have it's uses being up a minute's walk or thereabout for the Victoria Infirmary. Of course, it could also prove useful for picking up a sweet gift for close female friends or relatives too. As it does have some really nice little home decor bits and pieces in it, especially bowels, cushions, candles and candle holders. Indeed, I really appreciate the style and character behind some of their pieces such as the chunky metal silver candle holders. The interior of the shop is also extremely pleasant, net, tidy, clean and all their stock is well displayed. Something which undoubtedly draws in quite a few of the passing people, never mind encourages them to make their way all the way up to the till with money in hand. Indeed, it's actually a nice, sweet little shop and definitely has it's place. Although, I still get the impression that there are a few too many of these types of shops popping up around Glasgow. In saying this, it is nice to see that the South Side is catching up with the West End in some respects in the current cultural Glasgow makeover.

I guess a word to sum up this dinky little shop would be; charming, everything from the items, the decor to the lighting make it an inviting place and the prices aren't too bad either. I particularly like the red chandelier they have hanging from the ceiling, it adds to the quirky feel of the place. I noticed some really sweet hanging decorations for the household, some gorgeous embroidered cushions and they had a little box of bath bombs all shaped like cakes - at first glance I actually though they were cakes so they really do look good enough to eat!

Unfortunately, Herself had the inside track on this flyby, and before I could do anything I was unceremoniously yanked into the shop as she had been seduced by some trinket in the (admittedly very attractive) window display. Before five minutes had passed, she had grabbed several items from the clothes rail by the door and was heading rearwards to the changing room to try them on, while I mooched around like the long-suffering husband I am, trying not to look like a shoplifter as I browsed the goodies on display. Both the ladies on duty were very chatty and friendly, which makes all the difference in these small gift shops - although the sample dish of tablet on the counter also helped it must be said. They have a great selection of Scottish- and Glasgow-themed knick-knacks on display as well as more generic items, so you'll have no trouble in finding a gift for that special person in your life. However, although I was impressed with several items and earmarked them for future gift purchases (I particularly liked the hanging jam jar lights), on this occasion I managed to escape with my wallet intact. Not so my good lady, who came away feeling very pleased with herself and her purchases.

Sadly, they only had a Scots patter one, not the Weegie version, so my search continued. But it looks like a nice wee store if you're looking for a gift or greetings cards. By the time I had reached the till I had already decided this was going to be a five star review but then the wonderful staff at the till tried to help me lug the buggy up the stairs. I say tried because I may have been using the handy basket at the bottom of the buggy to hide all the books bought in Waterstones, meaning that the buggy weighed more than a family hatchback and actually couldn't be lifted even by two people and Puff just had to suck up bumped up the stairs. A great wee shop that I'll probably be back in again before Christmas. Its all very nice and the store feels very welcoming and cosy. One thing to note however is the price of the gear. Its definitely at eh higher end of the market, however a quick glance shows that the gear is of a high standard and i'm sure much of it would be welcomed as a gift. With friendly staff and a nice feel, this is a cool wee store for the girls to browse and a good joint for the guys for the odd emergency gift.
