This isn't the one to go to for a late night bunch to apologise for a late train or as an afterthought to a night out: they have the right flower for the right occasion, but you will pay the going rate for them. The staff are helpful, know their packages and can advise appropriately. I'll probably use this one for Valentine's Day again.

They're one step ahead of me then. However, it was the stalks section which most appealed to me. With a fantastic range of fruit and veg, this place is a more modern take on Roots and Fruits, its West End equivalent, with less of the achingly-hip contrived hippy vibe. The staff are knowledgeable and friendly, the music is upbeat and lively, adding to the unpretentious atmosphere, while the produce is reasonably priced and as fresh as it possibly can be. I particularly recommend checking out the wide range of fruit juices they have on offer. All this and not a dreadlock in sight.

There were two members of staff on duty, one was busy with a customer (presumably the owner), the other was not. I tried in vain to get the attention of the non-occupied person to no avail, and stood. And stood. And stood. I eventually left 10 mins later and bought my buttonhole flower from the much friendlier and cheaper (£3.50 compared to £5) florist on Minard Rd. Manners cost nothing, a "i'll be with you in 5 minutes, take a seat" o something similar was all it would have took. Instead I was treated like nothing. Utterly ignorant, and shameful. I will NEVER buy anything ftom this place again. Avoid if you value good customer service.

I am often tempted in by the cheap bunches of flowers huddled in the doorway, to brighten up what has been a gloomy winter, but they also have plenty of more impressive flowers behind the door. Because of its size and location, it tends to be the one where people rush in and out- best to know what you want rather than hope to be inspired- but for such a small shop, the selection is marvelous. The choices are more idiosyncratic than those in Tesco's across the road, and the staff always seem pleased to see me: friendly and traditional, it conjures up old fashioned images of commuters buying flowers on the way home from work.

My friend showed me the photo today on FB; the bouquet was beautiful! Perfect for my requirements, with purple and golden flowers as the mainstay - just as requested. Service; 100%! :-) Janine, Edinburgh.

As the others have said, it's off the main road in Shawlands but it would take less than 2 minutes to walk there, so it's worth a diversion. It's a sweet gift shop with a focus on sewing stuff too - you can learn how to make your own cushion covers, for example. I was in looking for a little housewarming gift and card for a friend and loved having a nosey around while the woman working offered me helpful suggestions and showed me some of the new stuff they had in. They have a big range of stuff; from jams and fudge, to candles, prints, kids clothes/toys, lovely fabrics and cushions, bunting and some jewellery bits and bobs. I liked how it's all presented and easy to find something nice without too much bother - I ended up just grabbing a card (The Grey Earl batboy card) and a wee tote bag as a present which was under a tenner. Definitely pay this shop a visit next time you're in the area!

I used to live round the corner from this florists and found it really handy as I could just pop round for some blooms if I just wanted to spruce of the flat or if I neededa bunch as a gift if I was going to a dinner party or a birthday. The staff here are also very friendly and I never felt pressured into buying anything, I felt relaxed just browsing at my leisure. They really do cater for all budgets here and the staff will be able to make up a beautiful bouquet if you are planning on spending £5 or £55.

Alternatively, they can make your stumbling request (I know no flower names at all and they were extremely good at guessing from my rather strained descriptions) into a work of art. They also offer a range of very reasonably priced cards, wrapping and other small gifts. Look out for their selection of potted plants too, I got a lovely little Ivy plant for £1.49. Bargain!
