Quidest is a tiny little florist on Hyndland Road - just off Dunbarton Road. Although it is small,…read moreit's not too easy to miss as it's painted a bright mint green colour. The outside of the shop, though, won't give you any insight about what you'll find inside. You'll have to go in to actually see what a great little florist this is! As well as an absolutely beautiful selection of flowers - Quidest also stocks a range of cards. Now, these are just not any cards. These are a great selection of really sophisticated cards - and they're not that unreasonably priced either! As well as bejewelled and sparkly cards, you'll also find a range of Banksy printed cards. Eleanor, the owner and head florist, is really friendly and will make you feel right at home while she whips up a beautiful bouquet for you. She also does weddings - so keep Quidest in mind if you're planning a bit of a "do". I'd definitely recommend that you try this florist next time you're after some blooms!

I buy my friends flower and card combinations from Quidest. I was even able to buy my boyfriend who is a great lover of urban graffiti artist Banksy, a card of his. Couldn't believe it I usually have to order such off the wall art stuffs from the internet. Wow wee!! And this is not the end, you can also get them in on big occasions, such as weddings, for a full blown TV romance film wedding with garlands of flowers everywhere. OHH sounds nice, and I bet they'd do a great job, so genuine and will work to your specifications.

Went here with the missus to pick up flowers for a friend…read more Being from Finland, where it costs a billion euros for a postage stamp, she thought the flowers were reasonably priced. I thought they were quite expensive, but I'm used to getting flowers from a friend in Motherwell. We picked up a 'money tree' or something or other. A friendly wee shop that is a bit cramped inside but well stocked with alot of different flowers to choose from. A part of me wishes I worked in a florist. This one would do nicely.

I think I must have been a florist in a previous life…read more There's something about the buckets filled with different kinds of stems and foliage that makes me swoon. Cleverly arranged gifty bits and pieces certainly help, and a some fully made and wrapped bouquets finish it all off nicely. Blooms, then, ticked all my boxes. Beatifully designed inside, they have bits of vintage-looking furniture topped off with candles, teddy bears and picture frames as well as a whole wall full of flowers. The walls are painted lime green which, although sounds hideous, is actually very clever. The different coloured flowers stand out wonderfully against it. Another bonus is that Blooms is not as expensive as you might think! They have some pre-made bunches for as little as £4.99, although their range does stretch all the way up to £25 and £30 bunches. (Guys, they're probably for when you've done something REALLY bad). All in all, I will be staring into the windows of Blooms wistfully for some time to come. Or, at least, until that time when I come up with some excuse to justify buying myself a huge bouquet.

Unfortunately, Herself had the inside track on this flyby, and before I could do anything I was unceremoniously yanked into the shop as she had been seduced by some trinket in the (admittedly very attractive) window display. Before five minutes had passed, she had grabbed several items from the clothes rail by the door and was heading rearwards to the changing room to try them on, while I mooched around like the long-suffering husband I am, trying not to look like a shoplifter as I browsed the goodies on display. Both the ladies on duty were very chatty and friendly, which makes all the difference in these small gift shops - although the sample dish of tablet on the counter also helped it must be said. They have a great selection of Scottish- and Glasgow-themed knick-knacks on display as well as more generic items, so you'll have no trouble in finding a gift for that special person in your life. However, although I was impressed with several items and earmarked them for future gift purchases (I particularly liked the hanging jam jar lights), on this occasion I managed to escape with my wallet intact. Not so my good lady, who came away feeling very pleased with herself and her purchases.
