The staff were very patient as I tried to work out my nephew's size, and made good suggestions even when I went on about his hobbies, in the hope that would help me. One warning: this site is one that seems to struggle. In the past few years, it has changed hands frequently- it used to be a great Green Tea shop cafe. I hope that Peace can overcome the history.

They host an eclectic assortment of clothes for children up to 8 years, from quaint looking plaid dresses to punky duds for romping tots. It's probably the only shop I've ever been to where I've seen a skull sweatband for a 2 year old, and my wee baby cousins would like the wee combat trousers and camoflage tops. My cousin recently surprised us with a baby (when I say surprised I mean she told us after she had popped Noah out) so I made an impromptu shopping expidition to buy some new baby pressies. It was a whole load of fun but whoa, the prices are steep. I bought a dummy, rompersuit and jumper and it cost my an arm and a leg - almost caught me off guard as much as her having a surprise September baby did. So if you're going to go nuts spending like I did, be prepared for the cost. But with the friendly staff and seriously cute knitted pirate jumpers, it's the kind of place you would be willing to part with money in. Maybe it's just as well I don't have a bambino just yet, as I'd probably spend more money in here, kitting my baby out to be a mini punk rocker, than buying food and prams and all that necessary nonsense! It's cool that a baby shop exists where you can find some cute and different gifts.

Childish I know...but back in the days of said GH I was often in here buying and selling clothes (this was the days before eBay kids) which was a brilliant idea. I'm not 100% sure they still do that now, but because of eBay (other auction sites are available) I very much doubt they still offer this service. Not a vintage shop as such, more a nearly new shop as I would guess 90% of their stock is (very) new/modern items & a lot appearing to be hardly worn. So I guess I would describe this as a sort of 'vintage' shop for folk that don't like retro styles. You'll find high street & fashion labels such as Top Shop, ASOS, River Island and others as well as the odd Karen Millen & more high end/designer items too. Everything is laid out very well & there's lots of space to wander & browse, it's also got great lighting too which is something some other vintage/2nd hand shops seem to lack. As well as clothes they sell shoes/boots, bags, belts & some jewellery too. Everything is a pretty reasonable price, especially considering the condition of the items. You can pick up some real bargains here if you can be bothered searching (Me = always!). Last time I was in I found 2 dresses I really liked but didn't have enough cash on me to pay for them (Note: they don't take cards here) so they nice lady serving said she would put them aside whilst I went in search of a cash machine (there's plenty on nearby Byres road) and when I returned she very kindly rounded down the price of the 2 dresses saving me a couple of quid! Such a lovely gesture. The staff here have always been super nice & friendly which is always a wee bonus. It's service like that that keeps folk coming back. For trying on clothes they have one small changing area which is better than nowt but can be a pain when the shop's busy, but good things come to those who wait...supposedly! It might be off the beaten (Ruthvern Lane) track but this wee hidden gem is well worth a swatch. Another example of a fantastic wee local Glasgow business.

(I actually prefer the risque name!) The problem with Glorious is that that I NEVER leave without purchasing anything, and that's no exaggeration. If I can limit myself to a fortnightly visit and a maximum of two items purchased I'm doing well. The stock is always carefully selected- lots of on trend pieces, lots of items you missed out on first time round from the High Street, and a nice little smattering of vintage. There's also always a great selection of handbags. I think the prices are extremely competitive too. Its always possible to get two of three items for under £20 but equally you might spot a really special designer piece and pay a bit more for it but still get a bargain. The owners and staff are lovely and always enthusiastic about offering an opinion if needed. They all seem to take great pride in Glorious and subsequently all items for sale are of the highest quality; washed, pressed and ready to be worn. Often this can be a rarity from a secondhand store. Cant recommend this place enough and looking forward to my next pay day!

When you walk in, you clearly get the vibe that this is a university student's frequent haunt. As we shopped here, students came in and out, receive a discount, and generally have their needs met with the types of clothing available. However, the selection of clothes in the store isn't so student oriented that a wider audience won't be able to find something of interest. The first floor is more women's oriented, with tartan featuring prominently. The second floor is men's, which had some decent selections of Fred Perrys and the like. When we were there, the store was staffed just by a couple girls on the first floor, and they were pretty deep in conversation with each other. Didn't bother us at all, but perhaps don't expect to have staff catering to your every need here. But if you just like to do your thing and browse through the racks, you should be well sorted.,

I spent good money (too much) on trousers that had an irreparable defect that I did not notice until I put them on at home. I understand this is a risk with 2nd hand clothing, and places don't accept returns etc, but I do draw the line at paying ~£30 for something I literally can't wear. I messaged their instagram page about it and expressed my disappointment that they weren't willing to reconcile this in any way (I said I felt this was poor customer service) and the message I received back was so cheeky I am honestly in disbelief. Topshop can be a bit hit and miss. Either they have loads of items I love or nothing! The store is well laid out and as you walk through to the back of the store, there is a section for shoes/boots which has it's own till. I have been obsessed with these particular black slip on shoes from Topshop for so long now and I thought they were in need of an upgrade so I went in to pick up a new pair. I remember the first pair i got and how insanely comfy they were from the get go. Anyway, I picked up the same style (different pattern) and headed to the till. The guy who served me was really friendly and I couldn't wait to wear my new shoes! Insert Paolo Nutini song). Sadly, these ones are not so comfy and after almost murdering my feet, I've placed them on the shoe rack. I am determined to wear them in though, cause they're so comfy (eventually, the first pairm ust have been luck) and go with everything! Anyway, aside from shoe drama, I like this Topshop. They have a good range of jewellery and accessories too and random sweets etc near the till to tempt you. They have a good range of Topshop Beauty items as well, but I would like to see more.

Although many of the shoes are the kind of thing that even your great aunt wouldn't be seen dead in, they do have some pretty decent shoes. Obviously, with Ecco, generally the fit and how comfy they are kind of come before style - but this isn't always the case. This kind of footwear comfort comes with a big price tag - but look out for the sales as you'll find boots starting from £80 instead of £120.

Not that I'm cheap, I just can't routinely afford to drop £120-£150 on a handbag! Kris and I were greeted warmly by the 2 sales staff, and left to peruse the bags. After 5 mins, one of the ladies came over to offer help and advice on the 2 bags I was humming over. She wasn't pushy and offered honest input on my decision, which was very refreshing. I eventually settled on a navy leather and tartan satchel (I'm reliably informed this was exclusive to the Glasgow and Edinburgh stores.) and so I headed for the till. The 2nd sales lady was equally lovely, commenting on my choice and explaining that something was wrong with their POS system so they couldn't print a receipt. However they took my email and sent it to me instead! I feel more shops should do this - receipts do become a waste of paper and this seems a more eco-friendly way; and means you can print it only if you need to. I genuinely felt so special shopping in the Cambridge store, definitely pop in if you have a chance!

I like it, don't get me worn, the stuff is ok, not too nice, and not too bad. It is mostly simple designs, or plain colours, which aren't the most flattering in my opinion. Dresses are around £130 and sweaters around £50, and they really honestly are nothing special. I never see that many people in there, but with prices like that, they would only need a few people to go in and get a whole outfit to make a tidy packet. Very expensive and not very exciting or inspirational.

But this doesn't quite do justice to what you'll find in this little gem. Stuffed full of prints, mugs, t-shirts and cards, mostly made by local artists and designers, this is a perfect place to pick up a gift that's unique and special. I popped in here on Saturday afternoon and, as is normally the case, I had nothing in mind I just fancied a browse. After thumbing through some prints and objet d'art I spotted an awesome yellow and white laser-cut image. This now looks totally at home in my living room. Be prepared to rummage a little when you come in - not in a jumble sale kinda way, it's actually part of the charm of this shop. The owner is happy to let you browse, pick things up and wander around. You won't be rushed and the staff won't try to up-sell. If your purchase is a gift, they'll even wrap it for you. Most of the items are pretty affordable, starting at a few pounds but for some bespoke items are a bit more expensive. And a handy wee 20% Yelp discount when you check in makes it all the more affordable. And I'd love to know the story behind the ceramic cow tiles by the door - which I guess to be from a previous use for the shop.
