The shop itself is bright and cheering making a great impression from the outside and more generally brightening up a - potentially - rather dull main road. Inside, the bright and cheery vibe continues due to the well presented stock and well laid out shop as well as friendly staff, up for an afternoon chat. Meanwhile, you'll find a good range of pretty cards, candles, ornaments and the like. The products in here are pretty, well made/good quality and are just that little bit different for the bulk building department store stock you can find in town. However, the prices can be, for some items, a little bit too much. Though, on the whole if you're buying something out of here it's because you really like it or are buying for someone pretty special. So, in my experience these circumstances usually mean you don't mind spending a few extra pennies.

This place is really near my house so has been a lifesaver if I've forgotten to buy a gift for someone. I bought a little teddy bear for my mum last Christmas from here and he was a steal at £13! I'd already got her a few other things so he was just a little extra. They had a few other teddies too so it took me a while to decide but thankfully she loved the one I'd chosen. The shop assistant was really helpful and just let me browse at my leisure without making me feel pressured into buying anything. As Laura has mentioned, it can be quite pricey and I saw a handmade card for £6 which I think is pretty ridiculous for a card. I guess that gift shops are always pricier for cards but I'd rather spend more money on a gift than a card. This place is definitely worth a look if you need a small minding for someone.

Of course, it mostly sells beds and mattresses but they do have a few other bits and pieces of bedroom furniture and accessories. I would have liked to have seen a greater variety of bed frames on display, but perhaps that's just my taste - they had quite a lot of divan style beds at the time and that's not really my thing. Other than that, I just found them slightly pricey but again, budget is down to the person shopping, right? If you're shopping for bedroom furniture it's worth dropping in to have a look around.

Good and bad. On my visit, I spotted: Celtic and Rangers Meerkat t-shirts. Build your own model of the Petronas Towers. A blanket with sleeves. A Loch Lomond fridge magnet. A pencil drawing of Henrik Larsson. Yup, this is junk alright, although given its size it's better than your average proprietor of such nonsense thus increasing your chances of unearthing a hidden gem. Not the worst in this genre.

Full of fairly unusual and sweet presents for most occasions - such as special birthdays, weddings and new babies - it can be great to pick up that special gift although occassionally the stock disappoints me. What I love the most is the card selection - perfect when searching for a slightly more unusual card. Also be prepared to pay for its location - as you'd imagine in Princes Square it can be pretty expensive.

Carpet Right sells....drum roll - carpets (amongst other flooring types) and Harry Corry...slightly more - or less - imaginatively named (?) sells curtains. Well, not just curtains - it's kind of a limited home interior shop that focuses on fabrics and accessories. For instance curtains, bed spreads, lighting and cushions. So, it's nice and does it's deed. The range of products and stock is mesmerising - all sorts of colours and patterns can be found here; some are even pretty nice. The prices are extremely reasonable. The staff are easily to locate, pleasant, helpful and know their stock extremely well. So it's always a pleasure and never stressful. However, I'm not a fan of curtains (it's the age of the blinds after all) or cushions (don't even get me started - all they do is take up space and get in the way). Bedding and lighting I can appreciate but once you've got a few decent sets/items of these you don't really need more - do you? Thus, I'm not entirely sure if this place's purpose is entirely required. Yet, it's a great shop for what it is and obviously from time to time these items are needed. The clothes range also covers expectant mums, glad no doubt, to be able to choose something other than the usual dungarees and huge t-shirts. Recent additions to the shop include very pretty Mother and child accessories and crockery, including a Beatrix Potter range. While not cheap (some of the clothes are crazy dear, craaazy dear) you can rely on being the best dressed Mum or child around, if that is your priority. Tucked away down on the quite splendidly west endy Skirving Street on the South Side, this place is a quite funky wee shop with cutsey clothing, accessories and other bits and bobs for gals and babies.....there is a gentle nod to some guys stuff but really, with a name like Butterfly Kisses they aint exactly lookng to corner the man market. Anyway, this is a cute wee place with some really funky gear. Ok its a tad pricey but to be honest the gear looks to be of a high quality and its in nowhere near the same ridiculous price bracket as the west end. With a freindly and helpful owener i do hope this place is around to celebrate its second birthday come next year.....me likes.

This is a surprisingly well stocked local DIY store. Its not well advertised, so not many people…read moredon't realise its there. They stock Johnstons paints which can be mixed to any shade you want on the premises and the paint is of a high quality and easy to use. It has all your painting and decorating needs. The woman who works here however, is not the most welcoming, but is still helpful, once you get past the initial coolness. Very handy local shop selling, screwdrivers, to light fittings, paper and paint.

I was in the other day looking for something specific which they didn't have, but they do have a lovely range of the Happy Jackson stuff (which always catches my eye!) as well as a nice kids range, cards, gifts etc. This store isn't as big as their Giffnock one so if you're looking for a large range, that one might be worth a visit instead.
