i had a great experience with dr. sehgal, she is very personable and helpful. i'm more likely to get annual checkups with her due to her care. i did get the optomap retinal imaging which was super cool, and dr. sehgal went over it with me to explain everything. the process was quick, probably less than 60 seconds for both eyes, and i definitely think it's worth it to be able to access this type of technology for $39. like others, i did not expect a contact lens fitting cost, which was $80. i have been fitted for contacts in the past and have not been charged. dr. sehgal did take the time for a long fitting since it has been awhile since i've gotten my eyes checked (6 years) and my rx changed a bit, so i do appreciate her kindness and patience, i just think it should be known at the beginning of the visit. overall i had a great visit with dr. sehgal, she referred me to a lasik specialist who called 24 hours later. i really enjoyed our visit and think she's a great optometrist. amanda & other staff were very helpful and i was able to get a much needed adjustment for my current glasses in no time. i didn't find they had a good selection of frames, though. better than expected experience for an eye check-up. read more

Dr. Sehgal is the nicest and most Thorough Doctor. I couldn't fit into the eye imaging machine so she did a dialysis and thorough physical check of the eyes. She is Friendly and tells good jokes. All the assistants are helpful especially Amanda. I got my glasses fixed for free . read more

I needed to get a new prescription, so I could get new glasses.They told me they took my eye insurance. The day I went in for the eye exam, I filled out the billing paperwork for the eye insurance and told them several times not to medical insurance. The receipt I got showed the supplemental insurance co pay. They then turned around and fraudulently billed my medical insurance anyways. I received a totally different prescription than I've ever had and it is no good. I am now stuck with no glasses for two years because they billed my medical insurance. read more

The absolute WORST eye appointment experience I've ever had, and I've been going to Optometrists for 25 years. I booked a regular eye appointment and they asked me over the phone if I wore contacts. I told them yes. I came in right at my appointment time and had to wait an additional 10 minutes even though there were no other patients waiting in the office. I filled out a form saying I wore contact and needed an eye exam. Dr. Hamel called me into the back, where he did about 4-5 diagnostic tests on me, standard for what I've had with other eye appointments, but the whole process took 15 minutes. He didn't speak hardly at all during the whole appointment, which made me feel uncomfortable since typically I like to know what's happening. I told him I had issues with seeing at night, but he didn't feel the need to press me further about that or really offer any solutions, which was irritating. He also didn't dilate my eyes, and I had told him that I hadn't been to an eye doctor in over 2 years, so I felt he should have at least done that. I would later find out that he would blame my short visit on "COVID" and wanting to minimize how much he's around patients... you're a DOCTOR... that's your JOB. We both had PPE on so I found that excuse to be extremely ridiculous. After the 15 short minutes, he said he was finished and I went to the front desk to check out. The lady at the front desk told me it was a $90 co-pay, which I thought sounded steep, but I paid it anyway and left, just wanting to go home at that point. Later, I looked on my insurance claims account and saw that only the eye exam was charged as a claim and I wasn't supposed to pay anything. I called Dr. Hamel's office and asked for clarification on what the $90 charge was for. The associates on the phone weren't very helpful and told me it was for a "contact lens fitting" which I was told that this is "standard" with every patient who wears contact lenses. I was furious that the extra charge/procedure wasn't made clear to me AT ANY POINT during the entire appointment that this was occuring. Nor did I get any trial lenses to take home, which is typically part of a LENS FITTING... I was furious by not only the awkward and short eye appointment I received by Dr. Hamel, but also by the fact that it was such a steep charge that I felt wasn't communicated at all to me and very sneakily done. I asked multiple times to speak to Dr. Hamel about my entire experience, which he never called me back. And I learned that Dr. Hamel is the franchise owner of this business and therefore can apparently treat patients however he wants, in my opinion. I've learned that not every eye appointment location charges $90 for contact lens fitting, and this is definitely on the extremely HIGH side for this location. I would recommend calling an eye care center and asking what they charge for certain procedures and ask if it is mandatory that you receive those procedures PRIOR to actually going.. which is sad that a patient should even have to worry about being ripped off by a medical practice, but it's the sad reality unfortunately. I wouldn't recommend this business or doctor to anyone. read more

My wife went in to change the lenses in her glasses because she liked the frames. The bill was $595 which was fine because of her preferences, but when I picked up the glasses, I was not giving a case to put them in and I was told That since she did not get frames, I had to buy a case to hold the glasses in. $595 for lenses but they would not give me a two dollar case to protect them on the ride home. Don't expect much help from the employees. I arrived to select glasses for my 7yr old child, there were 4 employees sitting down chatting, I asked politely for some help in choosing glasses for my son. One of the employees pointed to an area that had a small selection in my price range and they said " go pick something ". Having no idea what to look for in terms of size and type we ended up with what I later found out was an adult size for my child. I was extremely disappointed and The attitude of the person who filled out the order was the reason I will not return and never recommend this store. I was in this past weekend for an annual eye exam and needed a pair of glasses, but I bought a pair of sunglasses last year, so my insurance wouldn't offer any discount. The pair I was looking at would have cost $240 just for the frames - Xiomara took the time to look at a dozen or more alternative frames that were similar in shape and size, but significantly less expensive. I ended up finding a pair I liked more that was more than half the price. She ended up saving me a lot of a pair of glasses I really needed to buy, and didn't think twice about it. She was also the individual who helped me buy my prescription sunglasses last year. Service like this is why I continue to use Pearle Vision, and recommend them to others. Thank you! read more

I would give it a 1.5, but this is solely because my prescription was wrong. The staff that greeted me and set my appointment were nice enough, but I came to see a doctor over a year ago and returned a few times because the trial pair of contacts didn't feel right to me. After the 3rd pair I thought maybe it's just because I'm trying all these new brands and stuck with the one I originally wore, hoping the strain would go away. Keep in mind I've gone to another Pearle Vision location for the past five years, but decided to try this location because I was in the area at the time. BIG MISTAKE. Turns out, when I returned to the original Pearle Vision for my new prescription--because my eyesight got worse within a year-- the doctor found out that my refraction wasn't as steep as what this doctor in Peabody had prescribed. So I've been wearing the wrong prescription for a whole year! ARGGH. I should've gone with my gut and went back to my original doctor when I kept feeling something was wrong after coming to this place. read more

I have been to the Peabody store a few times before, and each time I'm hoping for a better experience. There is never anything wrong on there part. It's always the customers"me" I bought a pair of prescription bifocals with frames , and i needed them adjusted because they fit crooked on my face after a few days of wearing them. I returned to get them adjusted and was told i must have sat on them or something . I explained i only use them for driving and they fit this way from the start. The person began to argue with me why they are crooked. I just wanted then adjusted. I paid good money for them and needed them to fit my face. He tried to adjust them and I was so disappointed I just left. To this day the glasses still fit crooked on my face and i just deal. Oh and please never show up if you think you made an appointment, because you will be wrong. No attempt to fix it. read more

Before I begin I would like to preface this review with this: I had an appointment and follow up with Dr. He at this Pearle Vision location. I'm very surprised to see two five-star reviews and three one-star reviews. How can a Pearle Vision be as polarizing as our current beloved President (full on sarcasm)? In all honesty, I left completely satisfied and all my eyecare needs were taken care of by Dr. He. The front office staff was very friendly and helpful, and furthermore Dr. He is a well trained optometrist and is very technically sound with her optic equipment. She was able to quickly diagnose my eye condition and gave me a well formulated plan of treatment and follow-up. She has great bedside manner and was very patient with all my concerns and questions. I am not sure what she could have done better during my appointment. If you are reading the reviews on this site and are in the market for a good optometrist, I would like to put forth Dr. Cindy He as a very suitable optometrist for you! I would be quick to disregard the incendiary one-star reviews from certain entitled parties because having read those reviews, I can guarantee you that was not my experience at all. I had to find an Optician that accepts Mass Health which lead me to Pearl Vision. Not many places accept which is frustrating in itself. The options available were very limited but I did manage to find a pair that suited me. Brian was the tech. that helped me and he was very, very nice and I thought gave me honest feedback as to what looked good or not (as I didn't trust my partners opinion!) I recently bought a pair of glasses at the Peabody Pearl Vision store. Your apprentice Optician Xiomara Jimenez helped me from start to finish. She was very pleasant, Informative, knowledgeable and patient. I do not enjoy buying glasses but she made it easy and fun! I found the other staff members to be very pleasant as well. There were many different frames to choose from with a variety of cost. My glasses were ready early and Xiomara was there when I picked her them up. This place has horrible service. My mother called to get contacts as quickly as possible because my grandmother just died and we needed to get to the family in New York for the wake. I could hear both my mother and this girl Alexis on the phone and my mother was perfectly calm considering the situation. The lady told her she couldnt get contacts because her percription expired. My mom wanted to know if they could make an exception to either fit her in or give her just one pair for now. Instead of being understanding the receptionist Alexis called my mother RUDE with no provocation. This woman should not be in a field centered on people skills. read more

What a scam, the doctor refusing to release my daughter's contact lens prescription because she claims that after a year and three months it has expired and she needs to have her eyes checked again. Now you should know she had a regular eye exam in July of last year and her vision had not changed. File this under a physician trying to get extra revenue. There is no MA state law setting 1 year shelf life on contact lens scripts. This is pure greed. I've contacted the state regulatory board, and Pearle Vision to file an official complaint. read more

I am new to wearing eyeglasses and went to Pearle vision in Peabody for an eye exam. The optometrist was terrific and discovered I needed glasses for distance and reading. She told me about bifocals, and me still in denial about getting older, I said I will just get the distance prescription and continue wearing cheaters. After a couple of months, I discovered what a pain it is switching glasses. I went back to Pearle vision to say I should have listened to her and I would like to order a pair of transitional bifocals. I dealt with a gentleman named Sixto He was very pleasant at the first meeting took some measurements said they could put the lenses in my existing frames and it would take ten days to complete. Thinking I was going to be without glasses for ten days I said how if I just order new frames and lenses and just keep these for an emergency he said no problem and gave me a price of $306. Shortly I called him back to ask if they could just order the lenses and when they came in to call me and I would drop off my existing frames and just put the new lenses in them. He said no problem and they would just need an hour with my existing glasses to do the transfer. I called him to schedule all of this and he never returned my calls, when I finally spoke to him he said let me call you back in ten minutes I'm with a customer. I tell him no problem and he never calls me back. I go back 2 days later to talk to him and he doesn't even have a clue who I am. After refreshing his memory, and him telling me he deals with hundreds of people a day, he gives me a price of $387 using my frames. I tell him he quoted me $306 with new frames he just looks at me and says this is the price, the whole time this is a very civil conversation. I asked him if he has my prescription which happened to be third from the top of paperwork and hands it to me and says take it wherever you like they should be able to take care of you. So I will be hoping never to have to deal with Pearle vision again. I come from a large family and I am a local business owner you will be in my conversations for awhile, with nothing good to say about Pearle vision. read more

Marlise thie office manager and Xiomara the optometrist are outstanding professionals. I had a difficult prescription which required multiple visits to get right. They patiently took their time to troubleshoot the problem. In the end, the frames were not correct for the type of prescription that I needed and they not only provided me with new frames to replace my purchased frame, but they also upgraded the quality of lens that to ensure my satisfaction. I had the worst experience with the Manager, Marlise. She had called to say my glasses were in. Upon arrival, she told her new employee to tell me, they were not ready. Then she said no way would they be ready today, I called to tell you this. Not true, folks. Then after some chatting, she said she could do them in an hour, but they may not be done to my satisfaction. Please, pay attention, this is one anxious woman, who obviously cannot handle the job. I had a great experience at this location. The doctor who saw me (Dr. He I think) was fantastic. She was very friendly and extremely knowledgeable. I opted to get the photo done rather than have my eyes dilated.This isn't covered by insurance companies but was only a $35 charge, well worth it in the end for me, and they did explain the charge to me very clearly upfront. The sales process for contacts and frames wasn't very pushy. I knew what I wanted going in to my appointment and they didn't push back or try and sway me to change my decision. I had the worst experience ever. The only reason this place got my business is because of Leann. The other lady that works there is so rude and obnoxious. Back in end of 2015 I bought a pair of Versace eye glasses from Leann and had an amazing experience so couple weeks ago, I decided to have my Tiffany Sunglasses fixed by getting new lenses. I went in on a Saturday to get a quote for my sunglasses and my husbands Versace sunglasses and the lady the so rude, seemed like she didn't want to help us and could not understand me. I got so frustrated that I came back when Leann was working. Leann ordered my lenses for my sunglasses also ordered me a new frame because the co-worker that was so rude to me damaged my brand new Versace frames when tightening them and I noticed it a week or so after. Even better when I went to go pick up my sunglasses, Leann was busy with a customer so this rude lady helped me and I explained to her my concern about the lenses and she automatically insulted me and was so rude. Once again she has a language issue and couldn't understand my concern. Lot of the customers that she was helping, got up and left because she annoyed them as well. This place is only in business because Leann is a good worker. She is the reason this place gets any sales because the other lady is so rude.
