I should preface that the first time coming here 2 years ago was great, 4 stars. Exam great, including receiving glasses same day.
So, I had my bi-annual exam last week and before I could explain my situation, the doc already suggested I might need bifocals due to age. Exam went well. Was told I would be assisted by Layla. Took me a little while to pick out glasses that would sit the way the doc explained with no-line bifocals. Layla briefly greeted me as she walked by, then helped another customer.
Another employee then asked me if I needed help. She also explained they may be able to adjust a pair I like if there's one that I really wanted. She did advise that there was a possibility that wouldn't work but they would still try.
When I found one that I was ok with, I sat near where Layla was helping the other customer, as that was who the doc had said would assist me. Other employee that talked to me earlier had me come over and assisted. She explained standard and premium. When I nearly settled for standard b/c of upfront, she mentioned that I could do two payments. So I went for premium because you wouldn't have to turn your head, because of a bigger width of second lens. Convenience. So she charged 90 then and 90 for when I picked them up. Insurance covered bifocals at 100%, so after I left I started wondering where the 180 came from (yes, I probably should have pointed out that it wasn't explained to me at that time). I was thinking at the time it was only covering the "premium" factor. My insurance company, explained to me what was submitted and it would have been what I would have gotten, but should have asked if I wanted the other coatings and whistles.
So, I get called back to pick up bifocals. I only have 45 min for lunch break, coming from a distance. 2 years ago, picking up glasses, it was an immediate crisp, clear , happy drawing moment. Not so much this time.
Rick had called me to pick them up. Layla didn't immediately find them, but did in a decent amount of time. I put them on and immediately felt like everything in the single vision was bowed. They tried to reassuring me that it would take a while to get used to "bifocals" and finding where the line is. I get that. What I didn't get and explained to the three employees in there, was that the single vision portion wasn't clear. Layla gave me a sign to read. Yes the single line worked as expected. But looking right at her wasn't working. She then picked up my debit card that I had in front of me and started charging the sale while I was looking at the sign. Didn't catch her until I noticed that she moved. Good customer service would be to ask for the card. They argued to give it a few weeks to get used to it, but when I kept trying to ask if after that two weeks it didn't work, would could I do? She then added it may take over the two weeks. When I didn't back down, she then said I had 30 days. When I asked if they could provide with with something like a pamphlet in writing saying I had 30 days, she didn't look to me or anything, just said no. So how confident does that make a person feel that they just bought (because she took the card when I wasn't literally focused.) a 180 pair of glasses? I called corporate on the way back to work. They did reassure that there is a 30 period. Then I found the guarantee online.
When I take them back, I will take a picture of them in the store before handing them back to document that they are in same good condition, per the guarantee.
If I close one eye with them it works. If I close the other it works. They don't appear to be working together. read more
