Amazing dining experience at Pearl Morrissette. I'm honestly surprised I had not heard about it before that day, as my boyfriend surprised me with the reservation. The entire dining experience is well crafted from start to finish, and I highly recommend everyone try it once. The price is on the steep side for a meal, at $185pp, and even higher if you get a beverage pairing. I did convince my boyfriend into getting the garden pairing with me, which is a selection of fresh non-alcoholic drinks at $65pp. That made our grand total around $330 pp, with tax and tip. Definitely not your average date night! But you are paying for the food, the experience, and the service - all of which is extraordinary. I'd imagine this is a rotating menu of whatever is freshest, so what I loved/didn't love may not even be on the menu when you go. My favorite dish was by far the halibut, which was just simple buttery goodness. The razor clams came at a close second, an amazing fresh start to the dinner. I never knew I liked razor clams until that moment. I did wish not as many courses (3) were desserts, but that's coming from someone who doesn't enjoy sweets. So of course I'd say that! Overall this is definitely a special occasion meal that will impress. Amazing service and unforgettable experience!

One of my favourite restaurants of all time, and I'm so glad you finally have the recognition you deserve! For anyone who has not yet tried, put this at the very top of your list! Be sure to also check out the RPM bakehouse, although keep in mind that it is not in the same location!

Location/Service This place is right in the heart of Jordan, easily accessible via car through the QEW. The restaurant layout is minimal, but modern. I like how it's not cluttered and you really enjoy the outside feel/vibe with the winery and the farm. When I went in the summer, the washrooms are portable, but much more cleaner and nicer than what you think it is. Staff were extremely nice, friendly and knowledgeable on what is being served. They really take the time to explain and connect with you on a personal level. For someone who's not used to this kind of service, you might feel a little awkward - but don't be! If you really think more about their core of service, you will see why each dish is so unique. Food This is a tasting menu setup - went here for lunch - so pricing is close to $150 or so. It is a long menu to be aware, as they serve one dish at a time and each dish is made according to how long it takes as you eat and enjoy it. So, be prepared to be there for a good 3-4 hours. Each ingredient they used and serve has a story - whether it's locally sourced or from a supplier that the chef/owner encounter, you can really tell the amount of effort they considered in choosing these ingredients and the amount of time they used in creating the dish. I was overall impressed with each and every single dish presented - the cod, I vividly remembered was truly amazing. And these dishes change according to season - so it's never the same. I would also reco doing the wine pairing - as it is a winery, the pairing really elevates the experience and the palette tasting. Of course with the amount of time spent at the restaurant, you should deserve a nice drink!

I am getting emotional writing this just reflecting on the day I have had. What an absolute treasure is hidden behind the short throw of tall grasses and perennial botanicals. A black monolith visually austere to the naked eye. Upon further inspection one realizes this is a rare sight. A home for culinary and wine lovers, proprietors and a genius ex pastry chef with a keening for biannual horticultural activities. I think there is a family beyond our human biology on this grounds . Man, chicken, cat, plant and bovine work in unison to create what is a once in a lifetime experience. And that's just the food ... Ambiance was fabulous Service was the best I've ever seen On this planet Attention to detail has become rhythmic normality . Morissette is an oasis of biodiversity amongst encroaching uniformity . Morissette is rebellious. What a fabulous, fabulous institution .

Heard great things and finally had reservations for lunch. Food was great! Service was very friendly and the description of the courses were good. Our other server who got me a juice pairing (I already had a wine tasting prior) was a bit disappointing. She didn't tell me that one juice would be for 2 courses. When I finished it, and she picked up the empty glass, she then told me it would have been for the next course as well and asked if I wanted another. Then when I had one of the dessert course, while the another server was describing the food she just left the juice there. She didn't come back to let me know what it was even when we made eye contact. My friend and I agreed that we'll return.

This is a review of their wine shop/delivery Selection is great, if you buy more than 2 cases (at any given time) you can become a VIP member (I think it's called the Black Ball Exclusive) where you get access to even more of their wines. I did a recent stock up & So far my favourite is the Lila which is a restaurant collaboration exclusive. Smooth easy to drink mix of lemberger, cab franc and pinot noir. Cant wait to try all of them!

This was a great experience, but waaaay waaaay tooooo expensive for what you get. Did I say this was over priced? We paid around $450 for dinner for two people. That is two weeks of groceries!! This just shouldn't be especially for what was served. The food was good and very very creative, but not worth the money for the small portions, $16 bottles of wine that are being up sold and grocery store cheese. We also got a juice pairing and my advice is to skip this and just get water...not good at all. I wished they served regular butter with their bread. Why are you rationing all of the food?? Also, why are you making people use a port a potty when they are shelling out $$$$$$ for dinner. I know this place was rated a top place by The NY Times, maybe they had their rose colored glasses on, maybe they were excited to be eating in a rural setting vs. the big city or maybe they didn't pay for their meal, because this was highway robbery.

Amazing lunch! We love every course. We had juice pairing. Service was great. It was very comfortable inside the tent even when it was 11c outside. Highly recommended!

The restaurant at Pearl Morrissette is a destination at Niagara. It's an architectural, energetic dining experience. The first trio sets the tone for the restaurant: Layered, balanced flavours from the sea. It begins with a creamy poached East Coast oyster. Aromatic herbs serve not only as decoration but also to tease the nose, while tart rhubarb cuts into the fat. If the oyster is a greeting, the sea urchin is a firm handshake. Newfoundland green urchins are new to me, but it appeared to be saltier, brinier like the ones in Maine compared to the more delicate, fresher ones from the west coast: Peppery ash and sweet squash enrich and complement. A buckwheat vegetable tartlet topped with caviar is popped into the mouth. It's a little luxury, a little fun. An interlude of dense oat sourdough while we discuss the wide open dining space and fully visible kitchen. Our meaty mains arrive. First, sour tomato broth, dried savoury fruit, and smoky Haddock gives us lovely contrast between textures and juices. The parsley root surprises, crunchy, buttery pearls cooked in lard and served with ham. Citrusy, crisp Wittman Scheurebe makes it an incredible bite, one of the best of the night. I'm filled with questions as the grilled goose arrives. How long was this aged for? What oil did they use for the crisped yam? Is this beautiful knife custom made? It has to be, as the layers of meat and vegetable give way to both the blade and the Cuvee Madeleine. The tight goose has become...loose. The desserts remind me of favourites despite being new flavours. Chilled apple morsels, ice cream and fennel and thyme syrup is light, refreshing. It's followed by roasted Sunchoke, a nutty creaminess that's coupled with savoury miso caramel. I almost wished that they were served together. Alas, a dried peach dumpling closes the meal with a herbal, hawthorny finale. Yum. I was going to ask to speak with the chefs just to thank them and ask a few things, so I think my dining partners were also really happy to be invited to the kitchen for a quick chat and look around with Chef Hadida. His excitement and passion was incredibly contagious; We can't wait to come back in the summer.

One of my favourite dining experiences ever. Farm to table concept with Chefs doing the drop romance at the table. Well done!

The Restaurant at Pearl-Morissette is a fantastic dining experience around the Jordan / Niagara on the Lake area, a 1.5-2 hour drive from Toronto. It's situated at the Pearl Morissette winery, started by Quebec native Francois Morisette They also have a winery in Napa - we tried the PM Cab Sauv and it was delicious, especially, as our waiter informed us, was one of the founder's first vintages of the Cab Sauv. The restaurant itself is the top floor of a sleek black, modern barn, situated next to fields and pens, hosting fresh vegetables and free-roaming cows and chickens. Once inside the restaurant, it was quite beautiful and peaceful - there is a large window that filters in natural light to the earthy decor, such as the live edge table in the center of the restaurant. The table was quite spectacular, with beautiful floral arrangements, cutlery, and the best part - a large rectangble of raw, sweet honeycomb. It's $75 for a 5-course meal, and we went for lunch on a Sunday. The blind tasting menu meant that each dish was a pleasant surprise, and the restaurant was truly farm to table. First off, the home-made bread and whipped butter was fantastic - warm rustic loaves of dense sourdough, with fresh whipped butter. The first few dishes were mostly vegetable-centric, with the latter courses consisting of meat such as the Berkshire pork tenderloin and the hake fish. Our lunch party found that the ingredients were very interesting - often taking vegetables and proteins that are difficult to cook and perfecting a unique cooking technique to truly allow the flavours to come out. For an additional $10pp we added one cheese course, mostly because it came with the raw honey. While the cab sauv bottle we shared was delicious, we did also try one wine pairing. We were disappointed by the wine pairing as we found that it didn't really augment the dishes. We hoped that the wine pairing would showcase the unique PM wines or wines of the region, similar to the local theme with the food, but they were mostly wines from around the world. Service was stellar - we had an informative, kind waiter, and excellent execution of simulatenous table plating. Guests are welcome to walk around the property and explore, though I would recommend staying mostly around the edge of the field.

The staff is super knowledgable and you can tell they are passionate about their work. They have seated tastings. I have always done my tastings inside their tasting room, I am not sure it works outside. My girlfriend wanted to try some of their sparklings. After hearing in detail the explanation on what to expect with all 5 of the options, she decided she wanted to try them all. They were very accommodating with this since they usually only do a tasting of 3. Throughout our tasting the lady kept checking on us, asking if we had any questions or if we needed anything else. Some Spice Girls conversations were had and we left very happy with some bottles of French style sparklings.

I was so happy to discover this place! The grounds are beautifully kept with a nice garden, the vineyard, a historic house (where there is a gorgeous tasting room and boutique -- a very 'French country' vibe), and a lovely shaded patio. There is a lot of space to spread out and relax. Wine tasting is $5 (for 3 samples) or $10 (for 3 samples + cheese board). Everyone seemed to be going for the latter, which included fresh baguette with herbes de provence olive oil, a sheep's milk cheddar and a gruyere cheese. Definitely worth it! They give you a list of their wines to choose from, as well as a sheet where you can take notes. Definitely appreciated. The young woman who served us was lovely. Very warm, friendly and able to provide a lot of descriptions about the wines. From the moment you walk in the door, you feel welcome and this is a place to relax and take your time enjoying the different wines. They do a couple sparkling wines which were quite refreshing, as well as a really unique Marsanne - super light and great for summer. I will definitely return when I'm passing through the area. This has been one of my favourite wine tasting experiences in Ontario (comparing to NOTL and PEC).
