I have visited 50+ wineries in the Niagara Region and in Prince Edward County and I am yet to have an experience quite like Thirty Bench. Upon arriving to the vineyard, you will notice its not trying to be anything more than what it is. A simple wooden building surrounded by acres of vineyards. Thirty Bench has some of the most flavourful, award winning wines. They don't try to gloat about it, they just continue to try to be consistent. What's unique about this vineyard is that you can have a private tasting with one of their in house experts. You sit down at a private bar and the expert sits down with you. They will go thru their collection of wines that are available for purchase at that moment. You leave with a better understanding of the grapes, and the vineyard which is behind such reputable wines. Their wines are well priced for the quality and if you are still one of those wary types on Ontario wine, this is a vineyard to crush those concerns. They make quality, not quantity. The labels will even tell you how many cases have been produced of that specific wine. A personal touch that I admire. Please do yourself a favour and go check out this vineyard. You can't buy the wines in the LCBO and their bottles are not poured at very many locations in Toronto. It will be well worth the drive to Beamsville. I promise.

Really interesting to try the steel post, wood post and wild cask to taste the difference between the grapes grown on difference soils (clay, limestone and loam). Ended up purchasing the wild cask, which was delicious. Used my visa infinite privileges to get a 2 for 1 tasting and the staff were very hospitable and generous with our pours. Great value. Lastly, the tasting room has big windows which overlook the estate, creating a really nice ambiance. Would definitely visit again.

The staff is super knowledgable and you can tell they are passionate about their work. They have seated tastings. I have always done my tastings inside their tasting room, I am not sure it works outside. My girlfriend wanted to try some of their sparklings. After hearing in detail the explanation on what to expect with all 5 of the options, she decided she wanted to try them all. They were very accommodating with this since they usually only do a tasting of 3. Throughout our tasting the lady kept checking on us, asking if we had any questions or if we needed anything else. Some Spice Girls conversations were had and we left very happy with some bottles of French style sparklings.

I was so happy to discover this place! The grounds are beautifully kept with a nice garden, the vineyard, a historic house (where there is a gorgeous tasting room and boutique -- a very 'French country' vibe), and a lovely shaded patio. There is a lot of space to spread out and relax. Wine tasting is $5 (for 3 samples) or $10 (for 3 samples + cheese board). Everyone seemed to be going for the latter, which included fresh baguette with herbes de provence olive oil, a sheep's milk cheddar and a gruyere cheese. Definitely worth it! They give you a list of their wines to choose from, as well as a sheet where you can take notes. Definitely appreciated. The young woman who served us was lovely. Very warm, friendly and able to provide a lot of descriptions about the wines. From the moment you walk in the door, you feel welcome and this is a place to relax and take your time enjoying the different wines. They do a couple sparkling wines which were quite refreshing, as well as a really unique Marsanne - super light and great for summer. I will definitely return when I'm passing through the area. This has been one of my favourite wine tasting experiences in Ontario (comparing to NOTL and PEC).

It was the perfect atmosphere to enjoy some wine and great food. My wife ordered a glass of Pinot Grigio and a glass of Riesling, while I went with Fielding's cherry cider, all refreshing choices! For lunch, she had the summer melon salad with prosciutto, which was light and flavorful, and I ordered the Good Earth burger, which was cooked perfectly and really hit the spot. The vineyard itself has a beautiful layout with both indoor and outdoor seating, plenty of parking, and lots of great spots for photos. Overall, it was a wonderful experience with delicious food, great drinks, and a laid-back setting. We'll definitely be coming back.
