A few reasons to consider stopping by this winery for a visit, among the many wineries in the area: - Butter Tart: they are famous for their butter tarts. My friends from Toronto bought a bunch to take home to their friends, it's just that popular and good. Yes, you are at a winery, but get a coffee and enjoy the tarts. Yum! - Art Gallery: they have an art gallery which is free admission, with some quality exhibits. - Sculpture Garden: Besides the indoor exhibits, they have outdoors sculpture too that is quite interesting. Be sure to take some time to walk around and admire them. Also, in the gift shop they have several of their wine in cans. I find it great to buy them as souvenirs for friends back home. A lot easier and lighter to carry, and I am able to bring gifts for more friends, since if I buy bottles, I can only buy two. read more

13th Street is a perfect place for an afternoon in Niagara's wine country, especially for those in to art and a good outdoor lunch at their Vineyard Kitchen Bistro (100km Foods certified). Before getting in to the full review one important tip - do not leave without getting the butter tarts in their bakery. Outrageous. For those coming only for the wine you may be disappointed. Tasted a Rose Brut, Pinot Grigio, Riesling and Gamay. The Rose Brut was the best of the group, a bit too bubbly but a pleaser. The Pinot Grigio and Riesling were decent, though both lacked structure and were watery. The Gamay, in part due to the heat, was undrinkable. We did not go on their winery tour. Perhaps they have other higher level wines that were not available in the standard flight. Lunch for 4 was really well beyond what I expected. You find an available table then go up to order your food. Wine / drinks are immediately available. They give you a table number and then bring the food to you. Despite it being full on Saturday the service was quite fast. Had a strawberry and goat cheese salad which was plentiful and excellent. Smokey Broccolini salad also recommended. Grilled chicken parmesan was apparently quite good as well. Both the truffle fries basket were superb as was the shareable cheese & charcuterie board. Prices were fair. After a delicious meal listening to live music we headed over to their art gallery and lastly a stroll over to visit the vines. Art installations throughout the vineyard add to the charm. Normally I wouldn't give 5 stars if I wasn't fond of the wine but the full package of what 13th Street offers makes it a must to visit. Visited here specifically for the baked goods, and I did not leave disappointed. The carrot cake, the butter tarts and the scones are some of the most delicious I've ever had. If you around the area, I would definitely dedicate the time to stop by and pick something up for the road. You are able to order in advance on the website as long as you meet the minimum required items. I came by the winery with a group of friends while they were having the handmade market, and we had an incredible experience! At the market, they had several of their wines available by the glass, as well as their baked goods (cookies, butter tarts, and more). I really enjoyed both their rose and their butter tarts! There were also food trucks and other vendors on site at the market and shady spots to sit and eat. We also stopped inside their wine shop to buy a few bottles of wine, as well as artisan pasta and baked goods. The shop had a great variety of items in addition to wine. The vineyard onsite is scenic and makes for great photos. I really enjoyed their rose, and my experience here, and would love to come back here again to taste more of their wines! read more

My only regret is not going to the Winery hungry. They have all the moving parts for a great outing. Tastings, art exhibits, live music and a full restaurant. A pretty little winery with pleasant helpful staff near St. Catherine's, which also has a really neat art gallery, and a bakery. We did a tasting of: the June's Vineyard Riesling 2023, which was really nice and fruity, but also dry; the Premier Cuvée 2018, a sparkling wine with interesting flavor but not one we liked much; the White Chardonnay, which was a really different light flavor (we bought a few bottles); the Gamay 2023 (a red I did not like, but which they say is one of their specialties); and their 2019 Late Harvest Riesling, which was a very nice dessert wine. read more

I was overwhelmed with the visit in the best way. My boyfriend booked us a wine tasting and tour and I didn't expect what we got. Our tour guide, Alan, was so welcoming and knowledgeable. We started the tour with sabreing a bottle of sparkling. It was so fun. Alan taught us how to do it and the history of the practice. The grounds are beautiful. Each stop throughout the vineyard and art gallery was paired with a wine and sausage or cheese. A wonderful experience. Recommend for wine lovers. The Discovery Pass ice wine event was great here! We went 25 January 2025. The double smoked pork belly arancini was paired perfectly with the 2019 Late Harvest Riesling which was surprisingly good and sweet since it's not an ice wine. Love the atmosphere inside and outside with a fire pit outside with seating. Inside was cozy and warm and the wood table was very inviting. A Canadian winery that doesn't specialize in Riesling? Color me intrigued. Sparkling wines, Pinot Gris, and Gamay are the coins of the realm at 13th Street Winery. After reserving a late morning time for a guided tasting, I was impressed enough that I bought bottles of all three. And I'm a tough cookie when it comes to wine. It takes quite a bit to impress me. What knocked my socks off was the Premier Cuvee 2017 sparkling wine. This beauty was aged for 48 months on the yeast and was hand riddled. Its depth of flavor and richness was delightful, and for $39.75 Canadian it felt like a bargain, even if it was the most expensive bottle of the day. What left me a little flat was our tasting of the Pinot Gris did not have the acidity I expected. My suspicion was that our tasting was poured from a bottle that had been opened the day before. So I went out on a limb and bought a bottle anyway. Lo and behold, the freshly opened bottle at home had all the pep and verve the tasting room sample was lacking. That was the only weak spot. But it is especially unfortunate when tastings are done by reservation only and the winery charges for the samples. However, the glassware is delightful, and the tasting experience is well worth the cost. I would recommend doing it with a partner or two so you can try more than just four of the many wines available. The hardest part of the sampling was choosing which bottles to taste. I long for the days when wineries would simply pour you a bit of everything and anything they had available. Other highlights included walking the grounds and enjoying the art, eating lunch from the cafe and dining al fresco, grabbing treats from the bakery and scoring a Nanaimo Bar. Yes, I know the bakery is lauded for having the "best" butter tarts, and they were very good. However, I have determined that I prefer mine with a looser interior texture. Still, you should try these as they are delicious. Without a doubt my visit to 13th Street Winery was the highlight of my trip to Ontario, and I can't wait to uncork my bottle of the 2017 Premier Cuvee on some sufficiently celebratory occasion. read more

Beautiful winery with a bakery on-site, sculpture garden, & art gallery. These unique features DEFINITELY makes it stand out and draws the crowds! Their bakery is known for their butter tarts of which they have various flavours! Tarts & other bakery items were around $3.50 which is pretty competitively priced - they also have coffee. It seems as though there was a bit of miscommunication with the different departments. I was told by the store/bakery staff that they tastings (in the next building) would probably be booked up which they weren't. Then when I inquired about the tastings, in the tasting building, I was told that there were self-guided tastings outside and that they offered larger pours. When I told this to the female staff outside, she gave me a sour look. She was quite rude! Service at the outdoor counter, where food orders are also placed, were quite slow. The rude female worker was just standing in front of the cash register, but not taking any of the people in line, so only one register was open while a line kept getting longer and longer. I assumed that her register was broken, but she said nothing, only stood there. When she finally opened up, she was not only rude, but not very enthusiastic about recommending any of their wines. ALL except 1 wine that she recommended were white and they weren't great. Not to my taste, no depth of flavour, quite young tasting. 4 samples were $20 + tax. I'd visit again, but I'd either pre-book one of their tastings at the tasting building OR just visit their bakery & art areas. read more

We stopped here on the way home after spending a day in Niagara-on-the-Lake. The property is beautiful. There is a lot of greenery in addition to various buildings for art, wine tasting, eating, and shopping. There is a lot of parking on site and less crowded than the NOTL wineries, which is nice (especially during a summer weekend). We had already visited a couple of wineries so instead decided to check out Canada's beat butter tarts. In addition to the butter tarts, I picked up a bottle of red wine. The wine was meh; I have had better reds, but the butter tarts were to die for. Sadly they do not ship to Toronto so I will have to visit again to buy more and explore the rest of the winery. This months special was a Maple Walnut but we also love their Cherry tarts. You can get scones, breads, squares and more. We did try the frozen chicken pot pies which were wonderfully flavorful but could do with more chicken. :). Still will be a go to spot for us in Jordan when we are in the hood. Note - with Covid and store restrictions on number of shoppers it does get busy on the weekends. You can order in advance and just pop by and pick up! Note. They are closed on Sunday's. read more

We had a planned stop at 13th Street Winery based on their wine tasting and their butter tarts. Parking was easy, the venue is beautiful with contemporary art all over. We went to the store to buy their highly recommended butter tarts and then went into their wine tasting area. We didn't make a reservation however it wasn't busy, we checked in and were told to pick a seat and someone would come over. We waited and waited, so we opened up the box of butter tarts to ease our wait - the butter tarts were amazing. We finished the tarts and no one came over, meanwhile I saw couples being seated and serviced. My wife was disappointed and left slighted, I offered to go speak with someone but she didn't want to stay. I did walk over to one of the staff and told them we were waiting for someone to start the wine tasting and it's been 20 mins, he was kind and apologized but I told him we were leaving because we were ignored. I'm very disappointed in the wine tasting area, maybe we were their type of customers but the butter tarts were a hit. read more

Finally stopped into 13th Street to see what the hype was about! Was not disappointed at all. What a cute, casual, and groovy spot to enjoy a glass if their vin rose. If you like Whispering Angel, you'll love this and will support local all at the same time! So many spots to take photos and have your wine. Love it here! I always find myself stopping by this winery whenever I'm in the area. This place combines great scenery/ambience, tasty wine (I love the red), and amazing butter tarts (a must try!). The butter tarts are quite renowned in the area and rightly so - they are so good! They are sold in the little shop to the right of the winery. I personally love the original butter tart and the cherry butter tart. I also quite enjoy the lemon/coconut squares and the nanaimo bars. The shop also sells some cool gifts, souvenirs, and knick-knacks which I believe are all locally sourced and many are organic/vegan. This winery also has a small art exhibit by the parking lot where they host free exhibits for local artists. Definitely a nice place to visit before leaving. In terms of COVID protocols, this place does a good job - all the employees wear masks/gloves and there is a limited amount of people allowed inside any of the indoor areas. This place gets crowded on the weekends so I would definitely recommend coming during a weekday if you want to avoid the crowd. There are sometimes live musicians who do performances outside the main square - definitely something to enjoy while drinking some wine and snacking on some butter tarts. read more

This winery is pretty. The wine is on the dry end. You get 4 tastings for $10. If you buy two bottles of wine, they waive the $10 tasting fee. Being very familiar with vineyards on the US side, the wine at this vineyard was not extraordinary, but definitely beautiful. We also stopped by the bakery to try their products. The butter tarts were nice, but the cookies were dry, clumpy, and tasteless. I am not sure if the cookies are meant to be that way. read more

Super cute winery (went here for one of the Icewine festival passes) and was super impressed. The outside is so nice (would love to come back in the summer), sculptures, fire pit, outdoor gazebo like structure - perfect for a wedding! There is a store attached that sells along with their wines, some cheeses, pastries etc. They all looked delicious! The staff is super friendly. The patio overlooking the vineyard definitely a place to chill and enjoy a glass of wine or some baked goods or snack which are available from the bakery on site. Staff is super friendly here! We were greeted warmly wherever we go! We tried a few wines for 4 samples/$5 though nothing really interested me. The grounds are definitely worth the visit even if you are not into wine! Beautiful winery with a very modern vibe. Not sure when it opened but it looks brand new, very clean and pristine. They have an an adorable gift shop and stunning outdoor seating area where you can sit and have lunch or just some wine. They had the wine tastings in a separate building next to the gift shop with friendly staff. Also outside they had an open air market selling fresh fruit. Beautiful modern art sculptures are on the lawn with seating under some gorgeous trees. Highly recommend if you are doing wine tastings in the area. read more

Very rude employee working in the bakery. I asked her to help me and she responded 'can't you see I'm busy because heaven forbid you want a skor butter tart'. This is a super modern winery, with plentiful parking, little fire pits outside which gives room to socialize, and even a little store located next to the winery. We had received a card for a free tasting from our Airbnb host, so we came to use that. It was Saturday evening and it was pretty packed, and at first I thought it might take forever to get a tasting, but we were approached pretty quickly by the staff which was really nice. Although we had the free tasting, they are decently priced regardless. The young lady who did our tasting was very sweet and courteous, and did a great job of addressing all of our questions and even making recommendations based on our preferences. You can tell that the staff here really does their homework. Also, it just so happened that we came on a day that they were doing free tastings of their new wines paired with food, and it was all completely complementary! We strolled through and tried their new wines, and the food that was paired with it, and I ended up taking a bottle home. After checking out the wine, we went into the little store they have. They had a wide variety of different things, from soups to fancy Christmas decor, and tons of things that would make great Christmas gifts. I definitely wish I lived closer, because this place is amazing. They do have a wine club, and apparently there's a bunch of people from upstate NY who make the drive up every few months to get a crate of wine and the complementary tasting that comes with it (if you're in the club). A fun excursion with friends on a Saturday in March. We arrived around 1130 for a cheddar and wine tasting. For $20 + tax, we got to try 5 wines and several types of cheese. 2 Chardonnays, 1 Cab/Merlot, 1 Pinot Noir and a Cab Sauvignon. The wines range in price from $22 for the Chardonnay to $45 for the Pinot noir. Corinne was very friendly and knowledgeable and patient with the large and somewhat rowdy group. I didn't find any of the wines had a wow factor but the cheese was lovely and the pairings worked well. There is a bakery just across from the winery and they do "soup Saturdays" so we went there for lunch after for soup and shared a flatbread. Please note there is only one soup option but they have many flatbreads to choose from and do also have a nice selection of other treats (butter tarts, cookies, mini lemon meringue pies). There is also a shop of other fun things to purchase like jams, chutneys, Knick knacks, etc. A fun place to check out if you are in the area. read more

This place has the best Butter tarts known to man in their bakery. No joke. In fact they just won Best Butter Tart In Canada. Their higher end Sandstone Chardonay is also one of the best in the bench area and well worth the $29 price tag. Their Gamey Noir is also one of my favourites.
