Our wedding was a little unusual in that we live and were having the wedding in Honolulu, Hawaii. I was a little nervous at first with MDE being in Chicago and us being in Hawaii. After starting to work with the ladies, Emily Weinstein in particular, my doubts went away after about 30 seconds. We worked with MDE for over a year, and it couldn't have been more of a wonderful experience. MDE had never thrown a wedding in Hawaii but you would have never known it. The research, recommendations and relationships they made with the Hawaiian vendors rivals any planner who is actually based in Hawaii. Not only was the wedding far from where they are based in Chicago but it was also a Jewish/Military wedding. MDE understood how we wanted to the wedding to look and made it come to life. They were always calm, collective and supportive even when things got a little stressful due to the fact that the groom was deployed to Afghanistan for 9 months of the planning. They were extremely organized, helpful, detail orientated and through with every detail whether it be big or small. Not only were they excellent with their planning but you got the sense from all three women, Michelle, Emily and Sterling that they really cared about you. My sister (and MOH) is a day-of coordinator herself, as is a close friend from college, and both of them strongly suggested I do it - they made the point that most venue coordinators only really care about their operations and place of business, and their main focus is not your details. I am SO GLAD I took their advice, and so glad I came across Abryanna. At the point I hired her, she had done just a few weddings, but from her professionalism and sunny demeanor, it was obvious she was meant for this. She provided great insight and advice throughout the process, and I appreciate her work for my new husband and I. Her biggest value truly came the wedding day, though. She kept everything running smoothly, finalized venue setup while we were all in hair/makeup, and headed up the team effort to put out a rather large fire just before the ceremony, and kept the flames at bay during the reception. That last part was invaluable to me, as it was a worry throughout the planning year that came true, even though no one believed me it would. It was wonderful! Every aspect went off without a hitch. Noone was left wondering where their food or drink was. We were entertained from top to bottom. This event was to raise money for charity and I loved every second. Packed with a great crowd, Kellie K's new venture is off to a solid start. Everything was very well organized, from the drinks and food, to the raffle and prizes. Kellie made sure everyone was comfortable and having a good time. The drinks and food went from beginning to end, with a constant flow of new delectables.
