He said cataract surgery would likely not solve my problem but never explained what my problem was that couldn't be corrected by the cataract surgery. I was surprised by this decision so probably not able to ask the right questions but he was in a hurry and rather abrupt. Then he wrote in the notes that he had a long conversation with me and I decided against cataract surgery. The woman who saw me before him was very helpful but he was not. It is very poor care to not see an ophthalmologist before cataract surgery and let an optometrist make the decision about whether you would benefit. Then if you did have cataract surgery the surgeon would not have looked at your eyes him/her self. I am getting a referral to an ophthalmologist.

I never got to having surgery with PCLI and I'm glad. I grew suspicious when the prices they gave…read moreme were going up every time I talked to them and their promises of what my eyesight was going to be like was a lie. They're great at handing out false hope. I was quoted $2,500 per eye and that went to $2700. per eye and then there was the co-pays and the facility use fee by the time it was done I was looking at around $8,000 for something they couldn't do. I consulted a local doctor who had done my late husband's cataract surgery and he explained that there was a certain amount of correction that comes from having cataract removal but those lenses don't work the way they promised for someone like me. When I canceled they suddenly became very rude said they would cancel with Dr Huggett and hung up, I have had no contact with Dr Huggett or his office staff since the appointments were canceled. He will not talk to me and his staff hangs up on me. The reason I am throwing Dr Huggett into the fire is because he told me that I had cataracts as dense as a glass of milk and that I needed to get cataract surgery right away because the longer I waited the more likely I was to lose sight completely apart from maybe shadows. Dr Huggett knew I was a Medicare patient and still referred me to PCLI at which time PCLI would have known I was a Medicare patient. But I was told they were the best, that I would have 20/20 vision and I wanted that. I'm close to 70 and I wanted to see like I used to. Where they thought I was going to get around $8,000 to pay for what they were offering I don't know. A payment plan would have left me in debt with interest. I would not recommend PCLI to anyone nor would I recommend Dr Huggett to anyone. Since I canceled with PCLI Dr Huggett has refused to talk to me or to see me in any capacity and I have learned that he is a close associate with PCLI. My personal opinion is they are out to take the last penny anyone's got for false hope. Take from that what you will.

So will keep this short and sweet, mainly because this review is about Dr. Bruce Madsen and not…read moreNVISION, because Dr. Madsen did my cataract/IOL surgery before coming to NVISION. Dr. Madsen was an awesome doctor for my cataract/IOL surgery. Very easy to talk to, explained everything upfront, and made sure I was comfortable with the expected outcomes (and downsides) for IOL vs. monofocal lenses (what insurance pays for) Net-net, my left eye ended up at 20/15 and my right eye a smidge over 20/20. But my upclose vision with my right eye was sharp at 12" and my left eye didn't get sharp until closer to 20". So unless I am trying to tie a flyfishing fly, I am 100% eyeglass free. I can read books, menus and my iPhone without readers, and have great long distance vision as well. My surgery was done in 2018 and everything is still great.

I waited the minimum 3 months to see how things would heal, then waited an additional 3 to see if things progressed. The latter portion was partly my decision and my scheduling challenges, but the touch-up surgery was worth waiting for. They say that this can be a common thing for about 1 in 10 patients. While going through this again 6 months after my initial surgery wasn't the idea I had going in, it was even easier than the first surgery, plus it didn't cost me a cent. I had my full vision almost immediately following and now have better than perfect vision. Had some of the same team treat me this second time around, including Dr. Madsen, but again everyone was really comforting and helpful. I love not wearing contacts or worrying about driving at night! I had to look it all up myself after driving home with one good eye and one eye in pain and unusable. To top things off, the new prescription I got (filled somewhere else) is wrong, I believe - I'm in my 60s, have had glasses for 40 years, and have never had any such trouble with new prescriptions before. And it wasn't a change to a different kind of lens, like to progressives -- same formulation, bifocals, but they give me double vision and headaches almost immediately. My mother was referred to the Wilsonville office for eye surgery. She waited two years for her…read moresurgery! Partly due to residing in two states during that time. She compla about how hard it is to get ahold of them. They like to communicate via text. Why an eye clinic is communicating with patients that have vision problems via text is beyond me! Her surgery was finally scheduled for January 2025 and I took the day off work to drive her to her appointment. My mom hadn't received anything in the mail about her surgery, or a reminder call. The FrI day before her surgery she tried calling to confirm the time. She complained that no one ever answers the phone and she had left a voicemail. The morning of her surgery as I am getting ready to leave my house to pick her up, she calls me. The office had called back to say she missed her surgery! I called and explained that she never received any information, or a reminder call. My mom is 73 and she may have written it down wrong. She needs eye surgery and doesn't see well out of one eye after all! They blamed the lack of communication on an employee that was no longer with the clinic. I was able to reschedule her surgery and her four follow up appointments. Her surgery the following month went fine, my brother was able to take her. Her day after surgery follow up in Tigard went fine. My adult son took her to that. I took time off work to take her to her two week follow up. My mom had gotten a reminder text about her appointment the day before. I live in Silverton and picked her up in Woodburn, then we drove to the Wilsonville office. We got there 15 minutes early and were told the doctor was not in! The front desk gal said they had known of the doctors absence for some time and she wasn't sure how this appointment got scheduled. We asked why didn't someone call her before the appointment, to let her know she needed to be rescheduled? She didn't have an answer for that. I asked if there was another doctor that could see my mom? No. Front desk gal said something about how there is no on site manager, my response was "Obviously!" She asked if we wanted the managers business card? Yes! At no time did she offer to reschedule my mom! We were beyond frustrated and we left. My mom doesn't want to go back to this place that has no consideration for their patients! No communication! No empathy! Whoever does their scheduling is completely inept! Unfortunately, my mom has a temporary contact lens in her eye. She will have to go back at some point. Hopefully, before she develops problems due to their lack of care! I did call the manager and got voicemail. It's the weekend now, so I won't hear anything back until next week. This is the last place on the planet you want to go to!
