Look for the NBC looking signage when heading into Stephenville. A freind and I stopped in on a cold Friday Morning on our motorcycles during our yearly pilgrimage to Leuckenbach. The parking was accessible and immediatly upon entry, the waitress greeted us and sat us down. She immediatly asked in her southern accent if we would like some hot drinks. To our delight, we answered yes and she quickly brought us piping hot coffee. Now the place was pretty busy, but we noticed that this lady and the other waitresses were doing a great job checking on everyone. The setup in the place is a typical diner where you can sit at the bar and eat or in booths in a dogrun style building. The food was quick to come and was typical diner food. The prices....very agreeable. We spent 15$ on pan cakes, breakfast burritos, hashbrowns and bacon between the two of us. We were filled and the experience more than satisfactory. This place has their process down pat. If you want breakfast in Stephenville and are passing through, its a great stop. They are also open for lunch and dinner. read more

Found this place near the Hampton Inn where I was staying. Needed some breakfast and was drawn to it by all the law enforcement vehicles parked out front. (Usually a sign that the locals like this place or at least they should have good coffee.) Peacock's is a small restaurant located in Stephenville, Texas, and one of the few food places that stays open 24/7. PROS + The meals are generally pretty good, with the hash browns and flap jacks in particular standing out. + The establishment is very clean and tidy, even the bathrooms. + Affordable. CONS - This may be because I've only ever gone to Peacock's well after midnight, but the wait staff don't appear to be very friendly or interactive with customers they don't know. Considering the usual crowd around this time is mostly made up of drunk college kids, I can't really blame them, but it does create a kind of "in house" atmosphere. - The establishment is very small, and gets crowded easily. - There is no none-smoking area. - The amount of time it takes the food to come out varies inconstantly. I've gotten my food during packed nights with barely a 2-3 minute wait, and I've sat for 15 minutes waiting for my food on some dead nights. Overall, it's an OK place to eat. The pricing is actually fairly cheap especially for the quantity of food, the wait staff may not be friendly but they do their jobs and it's one of the few places in town that's open 24/7. The size of the location, lack of none-smoking accommodations and inconsistent wait time however can be deal breakers for some. read more

The food was decent but nothing I would come back for. Our family decided to have brunch there before heading home. One person said the pancakes were so cold the butter wouldn't melt. Another person said their ham was tough. The bacon was over-cooked and the biscuits were too dense. However the waffle and the hash browns were delicious. If you're planning on coming here, make sure to plan ahead with plenty of time. Especially on the weekend. It takes about 45 minutes to get your food. This wasn't a problem for us, the waitress let us know ahead of time. The food was pretty good but it tasted really good because we were starving by the time the food got out haha! I got the kibbles and bits but I watched some waffle sandwiches pass by and they looked delicious too!
