    Apple Gorgonzola Organic Salad ($7.99)
    Lisa H.

Omnivores, don't let the name fool you. Peace & Plants is not a strict vegetarian/vegan establishment; fish and chicken are also offered. But the emphasis is definitely on the fruits and veggies. I will mention that it's not the speediest place so if you are trying to zip in and out with a quick meal, you might have to tack on some more time. I opted for the apple gorgonzola organic salad ($7.99). This salad also came with dried apricots, pecan pieces, cherry tomatoes, and a lemony vinaigrette. My salad was quite large, making it a wonderful value, and fresh tasting. The coconut bonbon ($1.99) I purchased as a dessert was good, with excellent dark chocolate. It reminded me of a more gourmet Mounds bar but I thought the coconut:chocolate ratio was off since it was huge! The employees were really kind and nice. While there was no indoor seating, there's a shared backyard space where you can enjoy your food. Painted in bright colors, it will transport you to a more tropical locale. There's even a citrus tree. And cats! Including one black fellow who, from reading a posted sign, will get into your car with you.

this was a custom-made salad with spinach, cucumbers, avocado, carrots, and radishes PLUS a black bean chipotle burger that tasted amazing

This place is perfect for vegan, vegetarians, or plant-based diets. They have such a huge selection of delicious items plus they can make a custom salad with pretty much everything you can imagine. The prices are also very good! Located next to a juice bar it's the perfect combination. The service was amazing and the atmosphere and ambience is true to New York City.

Veggies and Cheese Pasta (creamy mushroom)

Peace N Plants is a deli specializing in vegetarian food. It is owned by the same people next door, Juice n Beats. They have mainly sandwiches and salad, not a huge menu but everything is either vegan or vegetarian. It is open very early if you need to grab breakfast or lunch before heading down into the subway for work. I got the pasta with veggies and creamy mushroom. Large portions with lots of veggies but not to my taste. Too pesto heavy for me. I should have gotten the tomato sauce option.

They have a hot foods section - brown rice with veg (peas/carrot) and 4 options of sides will bring you to $12. I opted for their special of 2 lunch orders to get a free large soup (16oz). The guy really packs in the food so for $12 a box it's def worth if you're in a time crunch and want a filling vegetarian meal. To order, order at the counter, pay at the cashier, and bring back your receipt to collect your food. The food is mildly seasoned and not super oily which I love - I def go home to add hot sauce/red chili flakes at home though. After I got the food I walked around the store to look around. Not sure about the fresh produce, but the dairy section is sooo pricy compared to what I'm used to at Trader Joe's for things like organic milk or non-dairy yogurt. I get that it's a small business but for the amount and speed my household consumes dairy, we got to go for Trader Joe's.

They have healthy options for sour cream, cookies, teas, ice cream, cereals, pasta, sauces, flour, milk, cheese, chips, etc. You name it. They have it. Let's face it - the only trade joe's in Queens is a mess. Way too crowded. And the nearest Whole Foods store is in Manhasset, NY. That's too far if you don't have a car. This store gives queens residents another option for organic, healthy food without having to wait in long lines at Trader Joe's or drive all the way to Manhasset, NY. By the way, this store's vitamin shop is AMAZING. The person who is in charge of the vitamin area is knowledgeable in what to offer clients based on their illness. This store also serves shakes, and meals, which I have yet to try. A "healthy meats" store (extension of this store) opened up nearby and I'll check that out too.

I love their self serve bins of bulk ingredients especially the nooch! Iykyk! The cold refrigerator offers an abundance of healthy options, love their plant based vegan products such as yogurts, milks and cheeses. Found my favorite jackfruit brand of frozen ingredients. Lots of vitamins offered for healthy living. Freshly grounded nut butters. Gluten free options aplenty. Healthier snack options like chips, ice cream, nuts and lots of chocolates. We've been going weekly and I can confidently say The staff are always amazing! So helpful and insightful. They offer a coupon book which can easily be used in store. Complimentary hot coffee is offered for shoppers making for an enjoyable shopping experience. Definitely worth the extra effort off route 17 south to explore this local gem of a market!

It's a little hard to miss, however you can see it once you've entered the shopping center. Family owned and operated since 1987. Think of Whole Foods, much less busy, not a whole lot of rushing (which is a good thing) and you take your time to browse around the smaller store. The quiet and calm was cool, for a Thursday evening, not too shabby. We came across a lot of products we haven't seen before. Great options from a vast majority of gluten free to bring your own containers for pasta to help reduce waste. Plenty of signs to look at and read what we can do to be proactive with our bodies, lifestyle and the environment. I loved knowing this was a smaller scale. We accidentally forgot our reusable bags, however bought a new MOM'S insulated bag. Until next time, we will be back!

It feels like everything that they sell, you can for sure get at the store next door or the Foodtown a block away for a fraction of the price. Prices are so exaggerated here (even for organic), it's almost mindblowing to think that they can charge the prices that they charge--and there will be people paying these prices. It's also always incredibly fast-paced in here for some reason, you'd think you were at a Trader Joe's during rush hour. Also wild that they don't have scanners at checkout and have to punch in prices manually, as if they were a small fruit and vegetable shop. Even though I am not their target customer, I can appreciate that it's still a longstanding mom-and-pop business that's trying to survive with the influx of chain businesses that are rapidly changing the neighborhood.

Overall a clean place to come for unique items. Hoping they bring back the vanilla caramel fudge Ben and Jerry ice cream!
