Using the ACP at Cox I was able to get a laptop at a great price. I ordered it using my cell and after 2 weeks, nothing. I called and a very nice woman told me the warehouse was behind and I should receive my laptop in 5 to 10 business days. Yesterday I received my laptop via FedEx. I had to sign for it, which was great, I did not have to worry about porch pirates. The laptop and charger were well packed. The laptop exceeded my expectations. I do have a couple of suggestions - please provide a link to the manufacturers web site to get their users manual. Your printed guide falls short. Also a Windows 10 guide/cheat sheet would be nice. Bought whole system CPU the sent had programs preventing using anything. Called they said could return but would take at least 6-8 weeks to return. I took to my regular tech and, after opening, even he couldn't fix. Sent back (after 23 days finally getting shipping label). They called and said opening unit voided warranty...even tho it was their fault. Now out cost of system plus having to buy another someplace else. Been with the internet service of PCs for People for several years before they merged. Im disabled and low income with children. They have my social security info and billing info since its required for service. Now they cut off my internet because I refuse to photocopy a federal ID for them which is a crime under 18 U.S. Code § 701. I had to find other internet so my kids could do their homework. They dont care. Also a photocopy is not a legal id. So for them to require a client to break the law just for information makes them very suspect in my opinion. I've gone to PC's For People for many years. They were always nice and at the time one location in the nation. Even 4 years ago they were nice and had quite a few more locations. Something changed in the last 4 years. I notice now even many more locations in major cities. I bought online one of their "Best" computer systems at $150. So I went to pick it up at their location and for me with no car major time. The clerk said no you can't pick up your purchase here they come from anywhere nationwide it comes in mail only. There is no note at the website where you buy it that you must do that. I was polite and thanked her. I received it in the mail and the return address was from exactly that same location. Then I needed a repair some time later, something I know doesn't take long. I had my memory stick and said I had on it a note to the technician if she would print it for me as I don't own a printer. Two feet away from her was a nice big printer and she said "We don't have a printer." So then the clerk next to her printed something so it was working perfectly fine. So I took my computer out of packaging I hauled it there in, put it on her desk, filled out the paper and then she said, "It will be two weeks." I was shocked but didn't complain and then she tersely added there are many besides me, which I never indicated that I wasn't being inconsiderate. Also before on the phone I spoke to a lady at that same St. Paul location, the lady was of the same voice that records the automated info when you call. The package deal is a monitor comes with it. I had made my purchase online. So I said I didn't need another monitor and if I could exclude that and get a discount. I purchased it right away because the note with the ad says how many left in stock. She said no. I asked why and she just in a rude tone said that's the way it's done. So I was being forced to buy it but was not complaining as I am grateful for their charitable service. I know they are a charity but it seemed yet another strange rule. I also said I wanted to change my purchase to get more memory capacity and pay more for that. She also rudely acted like it was an invalid request and said no I would have to cancel my order, no refunds for 7 to 10 business days, and must reorder completely and pay again. So that locked up twice the amount of money as I needed the computer very soon and had to wait until the first of the month and still no refund but had to buy right away. I didn't complain and was polite, but another strange rule. I politely asked if there is someone there I could ask if they could make an exception. She tersely put me on hold then returned to tersely say no exceptions. I didn't complain and thanked her politely, but wow, something has changed a PCP! Is there new ownership? The front desk clerk when I was there in person I heard her say at one fleeting point "our company" but didn't question it but that made me wonder if things had changed but was grateful and polite. This is the only ACP approved used PC provider that Cox cable provides. I had no choice but to use them. I ordered what looked like a good laptop on 1 December. Not a single word about when it is going to be shipped. according to the description I should be getting a new (ish) Intel i5 laptop with 4GB of ram. My Dell Vostro 3500 is falling to pieces, so I need something new. After reading these reviews here, I am very apprehensive about ordering the laptop that I ordered. HOWEVER, they contacted me when my order was shipped and I was impressed with the laptop that they sent me. It was worth way more than what I paid, and the windows 10 pro operating system was completely up to date. There is just a blemish on the touchpad. I realize now that they have to prepare these computers and set them up so that they can be personalized by the user when they receive them. And that takes time, especially if they have a lot of orders. Whenever I order things on eBay or Amazon I get those things practically the next day. But this is not quite the same as ordering from them. And I have heard numerous complaints about refurbish computers ordered from Amazon, whenever you are ordering refurbished, it's a risk. Not only was I refused help, I was blamed for their mistakes... Dealing with this company has been the worst experience I've ever encountered regarding customer appreciation, purchases over the Internet and customer service. When I learned about PfP I thought they would be an excellent way to support a small charity. I've had nothing but problems with this company. There guest service employees are rude, condescending, unethically cruel, dismissive, and mocked me during conversations. Not only was I refused help, I was blamed for their mistakes, refused the corrections they have caused within my accounts and am constantly being dismissed by being told to call a 3rd party. Also, when I wrote to have a member of senior management contact me, I received the reply that they refuse to help me further. All of the devices I have received from PfP have been faulty and broken. Their repair service is inadequate. They couldn't fix the laptop I purchased which mierly needed a password prompt removed and a new battery. Literally the worst organization I have ever done business with. I want these people to succeed. They provide Internet to low income people! They refurbish computers so low income people can afford devices! They are keeping devices out of landfills to save the environment. They have so many excellent goals--how do they do it so wrong? I just got an internet hotspot after being without the internet for three months. Three months during which I paid for service. Three months during which I called the company five times, was sent a faulty device, called T Mobile four times to troubleshoot, and was given erroneous information at least three times. I sent emails that were never responded to. I was told I was sent a device that was never sent only after waiting three weeks, and being told twice that it was on the way, did a representative look into the situation to see that the device had never been sent. This organization gets government funding. I question that our tax dollars go to such incompetence. The lack of response to emails is just juvenile. For a computer company to not respond to customer emails is embarrassing. The internet service here is a bit of a scam. Yes, it's low cost. However, you have to buy one of their refurbished devices. The devices normally sell for about $20 but you have to buy them through PCs for People, where they cost $100 or more. Then, since they're refurbished, they tend to break after a year, when the warranty has expired, meaning you have to buy a new one. It seems like manufactured obsolescence. I payed for and received wrong, incompatible items for Order #611309, placed on 05/17/2023. I received a 2014 DELL Monitor, with a black power cord and blue HD15 male to male video cable. I also received a 2017 DELL modem, OptiPlex 3050 - (model D11S002, Windows 10 Pro), with NO power cord and NO compatible cable (BOTH monitor and modem cable ports were NOT the same AND not compatible with each other, therefore cannot connect!). Also, the monitor screen is MUCH older - from 2014, while the modem is newer, manufactured in 2017. I cannot job search, and am VERY disappointed and frustrated that I was shipped incompatible items that I paid for. I've included photos of each of the issues. I'd like to go ahead and return ONLY the modem and monitor and be shipped new ones, along with their proper power cords and cables. And I'd like to keep the keyboard, mouse, and headset I received. Truly terrible internet service, devices, and customer service. The actual people are nice, but the business practices they operate under are borderline predatory. They basically don't take returns, even when their items are faulty, and when they will consent to an exchange, they require all the boxes back, presumably so that faulty items can be repackaged and sold to the next unsuspecting customer. I purchased their internet service about 3 months ago. I was getting slow-but-tolerable service at my old address (after struggling for a week to get it working), but since I moved, it's been just awful. Apparently one of Sprint's towers is down in my area. It's been a month and a half now, and no improvement whatsoever. I was trying to wait out the tower being fixed, but now my modem- my second one from pcsforpeople - has suddenly died. So I'm throwing in the towel. For your own sanity, stay away. I've saved NO money switching to this service. Indeed, it's been more expensive than my previous, market-rate service, as I've periodically had to buy wifi passes from Xfinity during days my wifi has been totally unusable. And now I'm going to have to eat the cost of their shitty modem, too ($80). I know people who use their internet successfully. At my old address, it worked well enough to be liveable. But if it doesn't work for you, you're SOL. Sprint isn't helpful, pcsforpeople takes no responsibility, and the $80 modem is non-refundable after just 7 days. If you're low-income, it's not worth the gamble or the headache. Sign up for Xfinity's Internet Essentials program, or search for some other low-cost option, but stay away from these piranhas. read more

PCs for People are deserving of all the negative reviews...after dealing with them, I now have my laptop infected with their "inhouse" Trojan...any pc you get or have repaired gets it put on by them. It hijacks your Google or other internet connection and takes you to their advertising website. I used a thumb drive on a laptop I have as backup to bring a file to my main laptop and suddenly I was unable to get to DDG or Google, just their website. I won't go into how Godawful their $50 laptops are...or that they get some kind of subsidy for Medicaid customers who have to qualify (me) and charge $25 to remove their in-house Trojan. I got rid of the laptop I got (2nd one after I brought back the first) for half of what I paid and still feel bad about the guy who got it. Stay away from their repairs unless you can't afford someone good who won't put unauthorized Trojans on your pc. read more

Received a a refurbished PC notebook from PC for peoples and the device will not connect to the Internet. I've been on the phone with my Internet provider for hours having them troubleshooting it. I have other devices that work fine on the Internet but this new refurbished PC does not work and I paid $150 for it and it will not connect to the internet and the Wi-Fi card is bad. nobody at PC peoples has any idea how to help you with this so I guess I'll be returning this piece of junk and get my money back and buy a computer elsewhere I would not recommend this service to anybody. This was a good service before the company switched providers. Not only was my hotspot router forcibly replaced with a much cheaper (both in quality and price) router, but it just simply sucks. They've had to replace it once already. I never had issues with the old box, but this one seems to go down once a week at least. My good device was taken and I was given this pos that cost half of what my original did. Not only that, but I have to call in to fix my issue every time and they close so early that I often am without internet for days due to scheduling conflict. One star and two thumbs down. read more

if you are thinking about getting internet with this company I would avoid at all cost. It is beyond slow 4 Mbps. They use Sprint's alternative Powers which is pretty much the slowest 4G you can get. if you need a cheap option I would go with AT&t they have a discount program. This is the absolute worst internet company I have ever been with. The Internet is very slow their modems are junk and their customer service does not care at all about their customers. Took a chance and bought a computer. There most expensive one. It is the slowest piece of garbage computer I have ever owned. Virus scan turned up over 2,000 malicious files so far. I ordered a refurbished notebook from PCs for People. I received a filthy -- and I mean FILTHY -- computer that looks like it had spent its whole life in a greasy, dirty environment. Nothing "refurbed" about it. Deep scratches on the case, caked-on dirt around the keyboard (although some effort had been made to clean the tops of the keys), airflow seriously restricted due to dirt on the air vents, SD card slot unusable due to scuzz inside, etc. I phoned PC4P to talk about a minor issue. It took several calls to get through; I was often #10-12 in line and gave up. Twice I called and they were not open during their announced business hours. Would I purchase anything from them again? I received a HP TURTLE SLOW PC that has Win 10 -64Bit plus UPGRADE TO 8GB Ram and a TB of memory and had my IT friend install and transfer all the memory on the HD of my Old Reliable Dell tower with Win 98 (I was unable to upgrade that) and from day 1 it was slower then a dial up connected computer from 20 years ago. I ran MalwayreBytes, Glarysoft, my Anti Virus and the updater and after it took almost 2 hours to finish that 15 minute job rebooted and it was and is snail slow - I call PC for people and their Support Department doesn't exist meaning you cant get suport to take over the computer and try and find the problem which makes my purchased almost useless for anything other then storing pictures and music. It was everything that was listed and it works great. I planned on using it for a work from home position, if possible. I do wish they had other options such as older model apple products because I probably would've purchased or paid extra for it. Its a really old monitor and the only input is VGA so it got thrown in the dumpster after I upgraded.
