Shop owner conduct's business out of a car wracked with cigarette butts and computer parts. Business card looked professional, however. 22-JULY-2022 1300hrs, I delivered an Alienware X17 Intel i9 11980HK 4K RTX 3080 16GB GDDR6 Samsung 2TB x 2 PCIE v4.0 (RAID 0) 32 GB 3466 MHZ RAM gaming laptop, without any bootable operating system, following a confirmed appointment: I had repeatedly wiped the SSDs using a builtin BIOS utility and failed after many attempts to flash the BIOS firmware, in an attempt to remove UEFI based rootkit crypto mining malware which hijacked my GPU and disabled Windows updates. My only interim patch was to disable the mux switch. Crippling my laptop and goal to use the laptop as a central hub for content creation. 23-JULY-2022 1219hrs, The shop owner called me and confirmed the presence of BIOS malware, which had been my suspicion. However shop owner refused to replace BIOS chip integrated into the motherboard and went on to explain the BIOS malware had performed a DDOS write on my Seagate Firecuda 530 SSD and burned the chip, which I know state sponsored malware can do when tampered with... But I can always buy a new SSD. Replacing an entire motherboard however is an entirely different beast... The state sponsored malware most likely came from one of four places, of which I will not elucidate: 1. A sketchy adult website involving females, kittens and or yes horses !!! 2. Installed by street gang members, during oem build process, or during shipping, on behalf of foreign governments, such as North Korea, for delayed or remote payload activation. 3. Switching operating systems and or usb devices from Linux to Windows (can reintroduce and or reactivate windows targeted malware) 4. Downloading the entire wikipedia.com for a machine learning project (26 GB) I digress: I brought the laptop to you! You are CompTIA A+ certified! Why not replace the BIOS chip?? I hate malware. I contacted P.C. savior earlier this week to find out what they charge to replace a cracked screen on an iPhone 7 plus. During the call, the owner asked me to hold while he looked into it. After a minute + hold, the call was dropped. I tried calling back several times to no answer and a voicemail. I should have listened to my instincts at that point, after that call/reading the crappy reviews and avoided this place altogether. The thought of dragging my two young sons into an Apple store clouded my better judgment. I called again later in the week and the same person answered - his quote was $30 less than the Apple store so I agreed to drop my phone off during my lunch hour that day. I told him SPECIFICALLY that I could not be without my phone overnight and he told me he could fix the screen within an hour but that he closes the store at 4pm (website says 5pm) so if I would be coming by after then, he would leave the phone with the owner of the store next door for me to pick up after work. Again, I should have seen this as a red flag and too much of a risk but the thought of the Apple store and the temptation of paying less was enough for me to just to go through with having my phone repaired here. When I arrived at the store, the owner was there at the desk and he accepted my cash. For some reason, his printer was not working so he couldn't give me a receipt. I told him that my mother might stop by before closing to pick up my phone but if not, I would pick it up from next door after 4pm. Later in the day I called and spoke with the owner again to let him know that my mother was not going to make it. He told me at 2:30 that my phone was fixed and that he would leave it next door. After picking up my two crying kids from daycare and battling traffic through downtown Middletown, I made it over the bridge into Portland to get my phone - but lo and behold, the worker at the store next door tells me ... "oh, yeah ... he said he was going to leave your phone here but never did." AND NOW THEY'RE CLOSED ... and NOT answering their cell phone. So for the past nearly 24 hours I have been without a phone, the owner would not answer his phone to explain what happened ... now this morning I sent my mother there at their scheduled opening time (10am) and there is a "CLOTH" hanging from the front door that says they will return at 11am. Will I get my phone today?? Will I have to go through the weekend with no phone?? HOW WILL I CALL 911 IF I HAVE AN EMERGENCY WITH MY CHILDREN?? Avoid this store at all costs - it is NOT worth the headache. Drag your kids to Apple and pay the extra $30. Update: I did get my phone, finally and when I called the owner was very apologetic but that doesn't erase the fact that this was majorly inconvenient. I was thrilled when the man at PC Savior in Portland CT answered the phone right away, was polite, friendly & made an appointment to come to my house the next afternoon to help me with my computer. Since he was driving when I called, he asked me to text my info to him, so I texted him my address & phone #, & left a message on his phone with the info for good measure with a reminder of the apt time.
