Paytrust, I love you. Don't tell my wife, but you complete me! All the bills I used to receive at home and pay via hand-written check and mail via snail mail are no more. Like magic, my inbox is no longer filled with bills. How did this happen, you ask? Ah, young grasshopper, read and learn. Every bank these days allow you to pay your bills online without having to write and mail a check. Paytrust puts that to shame by also receiving your bills and processing them for you. When you set up a new payee, Paytrust contacts the company to have the bill directed to them instead of you. Then, when a bill arrives, they scan it and post it on their web site. You set rules for payment and notification. I have my ConEd bill set to always be automatically paid as long as it is under a set amount. That's it. I don't need to do anything else to ensure that ConEd takes it's pound of flesh each month. The payment rules are intelligent, allowing you to be as hands off or involved as you want to be. You can also send out one-time payments from the service. All payments are made directly from your checking account, just as if you sent the payment from your bank's own web site. Brilliant! But wait, there's more. Every year you can order a CD with all your bills and activity from the past year for your archives. Net result is less paper to file, fewer checks to write and stamps to buy and peace of mind that my bills are paid on time even if I am a lazy bum and forget. Paytrust, my utilities and credit cards thank you, my credit rating thanks you and I thank you. Just keep our affair on the DL - my wife wouldn't understand. read more

I am a long term user - since 1999 - and since Paytrust revamped their user interface, it has become nearly unusable. There are some errors in using Paytrust - such as not moving biller to 'inactive' status - so when you logon now, you need to scroll through - in my case - hundreds of biller to find the correct one and 'assign' the biller correctly. The problem is that these billers are not in alphabetical order - or in chronologic order - or in any kind of order i can discern. Then the UI also truncates biller names - so Chase mortgage and Chase credit card appear the same - which they are not. So many issues on this new user interface. I have reported this to Paytrust and they said they are going to address this next update - however, this was several months ago. Also, they do not have 24 hour customer service! I have tried to call customer service multipole times and less than half of my calls go through. I get a 'we cannot process your call at this time' when I call - which is a challenge. It used to be the best bill paying service on the market - now it is the worst, and if I wasn't with them for so long - I would have given up and left. I hope they address these persistent issues and go back to the service we used to love and count on. Please help Paytrust! read more

I've been a Paytrust subscriber since their earliest days - sometime in the mid-90's or thereabouts. I definitely have a love-hate relationship with them, and it has only gotten worse since Intuit bought the business and they have gone offshore for customer service. I called today to ask an innocuous question about the way an item appeared in my bill inbox, and was asked SEVEN security questions before they would even consider answering MY question. They told me the date of birth I gave in response to one of their questions was wrong. I didn't even know I gave them my date of birth when I signed up 20 or so years ago. So I logged in to my account and looked at my profile, which shows that they have my SSN 'on file', but makes no mention at all of my d/o/b. The customer service agent I spoke with - Joan in the Philippines - said she couldn't tell me what d/o/b is in their system, but only that the d/o/b I gave her on the phone was wrong. So wouldn't be able to help me in any way about why I called in the first place. She also didn't have a clue about how to resolve our impasse, even though I correctly answered all the other security questions. I asked to speak with a supervisor and Joan told me she would put me on a list for a callback in 24 to 48 hours. Of course I hung up with Joan and called right back, spoke with another customer service minion, and was speaking with a supervisor within just a few minutes. This is the kind of maddening crap that you have to put up with when dealing with these people. I've read most of the other Yelp complaints about the service, and have experienced many of them in some form or fashion over the years. Except I've never had a Payee (Paytust lingo) refuse to send a bill to a PO box in Souix Falls. So why am I still with Paytrust??? Because I have not yet found a similar service that will process a bill, like my cable, electric or phone bill, that has a different amount every month, scan it, save it and pay the right amount. For recurring payments like mortgage, car, etc., payments that are the same every month, I stopped using Paytrust years ago and use my bank's online billpay service. But for now, I would rather give one company - Paytrust - access to my checking account to issue checks or initiate ACH payments than give similar access to Comcast, ComEd, AT&T and on and on - that would be way too many fingers with access to my checking account. So I generally like Paytrust, which has some technical flaws, but I hate their customer service. In this day and age, I just don't understand how Intuit can miss the boat so badly on the one thing that could really make their customers love them. But that would cost $$$ and I have a feeling that they know their service is unique in one or two very important ways and they don't really care that much about how their customers feel. My two cents... read more

Like many others I have been a loyal Paytrust customer for 20 years with no problem. Not the case now. Since their new UI nothing works. All of my old inactive payees came over in the transition but none of my active payees so I have been unable to pay my bills. Many long and frustrating calls to Customer service over 3 weeks and still nothing fixed. I would go to another service but I dont have information as to account nos, where to pay, and it is no small chore to get all of my payees to send bills to a different address. It is a mess and I am sure my pristine credit record is going to take a hit trying to get this straightened out. Stay away, do not use Paytrust. read more

PayTrust used to be great, but it became progressively worse over the past couple of years. Missing payments, late payments, awkward user interface, lost records, etc. Shame on me for not cancelling PayTrust sooner. The last straw was a $15 fee they charged me for an item of mail the USPS returned in error (no fault of mine), and PayTrust refused to refund me the fee. So I cancelled the service. Then PayTrust goes on to charge me service fees months later. Classic scammy company move. read more

absolutely terrible service, terrible UI (the "new, improved" UI is even worse). We regret ever signing up with them. The service has been down the last three times I've tried to use it. When I try to log in, I specify user name and then see the message "We're sorry, but the system is currently unavailable. Please contact customer support." And, of course, no number or email or link for customer service. Pathetic. A black mark on Intuit (the owner). read more

The Paytrust service is unique, they make all your bills go to their processing center and put them online, which automates the entire process and allows you to go on a trip abroad knowing you can always pay your latest bills. But there are drawbacks. They try to access bills electronically, and so they have you enter the credentials for your online accounts at your billers' websites. Invariably these login methods fail due to changes, and you can be left with unpaid bills as a result. It is a lot of work to keep all that up to date. Then I decided to cancel the service, since my own credit union offered a bill pay service that makes the bills payable online as well, for free. But this caused a major problem. Some billers kept sending their bills to Paytrust in Sioux Falls (obviously I should have sent a change of address but did not), and I never got those bills. They do not forward any mail. I thought destroying mail was a federal offense, but Paytrust is doing it. They could easily have charged me for forwarding the bills instead of just dumping them. I am wondering if I should file a complaint with the police. read more

WAS a great service until they updated the website. It basically unusable now. I've been a customer for 20 years. It's time for me to cancel. Why isn't zero stars an option? read more

I have been a customer since the PayMyBills days and no longer find this service to be helpful. Their customer service team is rigidly following a script and is not interested in providing any assistant other than to make threats. I have had to call them only a handful of times over the last 15+ years and only find the customer service declining. The system is simplistic but you can easily make mistakes that you are then unable to correct or get assistance correcting. You are just out of money from multiple payments. I also find that the system is often down with no warning or communication. If you are trying to approve a payment or request a payment for that day, you basically need to find another way. That is no okay in my book. read more

I've been a PayTrust user for 20 years but am about to close the account because of the remarkably terrible new interface and difficulty in contacting customer support. Once a reliable and trusted platform, it's now... awful. read more

I was a customer for many years. One vendor that I had used, had the same address for over 3 years. When one check was returned for "wrong address" they charged me $15 extra dollars. First, the the address never changed, which I confirmed with my vendor, and second Paytrust didn't reissue the check, I did. Check out your bank - you may be paying for something that will be free with your bank. That is what I did and was able to cancel my Paytrust subscription. read more

Hands down, the worst customer service ever. Rude, ineffective, and so unhelpful that it turns my stomach. Sadly, paytrust is the only company left that offers scanned bills in addition to electronic bill presentment. Their customer service is so incompetent, though, that I would seriously tell you to just deal with paper bills and use your bank even when your bank lacks services. read more

HORRIBLE for a small business. I used this years ago for personal stuff and loved it (before banks had good online payments). It was great to avoid getting mail. I've been trying to setup my business for the past 2 weeks. They claim they have a business service - they don't, and nobody there knows what they are doing. - I've talked to 6 people - everyone gives a different answer. - It's been 'escalated' 4x, and I was told 'this will be done tomorrow' 3x. Nothing has been done - When I call, the person has no access to info on the old calls - I've heard "we need just one more thing" at least 3x so far. This is one of the worst run companies I've experienced. Note the age of the good reviews...apparently Intuit has successfully destroyed Paytrust. Avoid them. read more

0 Stars. STAY AWAY DO NOT SIGN UP FOR THIS SERVICE. I have used PayTrust for almost 17 years. Their customer service was never the best but I kept using it because it worked. This year my account went off the cliff. Suddenly in the middle of an 8 week trip bills that I had setup to autopay were NOT paid. I did not know about this for several weeks because I was off the grid because where I was there was no grid! This resulted in $150 in late fees. When I was able to contact "customer service" I was told it was not paid because it was over the maximum amount allowed and that it was policy. I asked when this new policy was implemented and the agent said it has always been their policy. I then said how is that possible since for 17 years I had a least one or more payments EVERY month over this amount. Weeks later is was sort of resolved and I soldiered on. Then when I was on another trip they started to screw up again. When I attempted to close the account they said that it would take one month to do so. I said ridiculous, they then trotted out that it was their policy. Where have I heard that one before. I insisted that it be closed immediately. I was told that would happen. Now 7 days later I got notices in my email about bills etc on my account, which should have been closed. I again called Customer Service and again I was told it was policy it would be closed next month. Talked to a supervisor who asked would I reconsider my decision if they gave me 3 months free service, let me think $36 vs the $150 in late fees. No I said, close the account NOW. I have been told it will be closed within 48 hours. We shall see.... UPDATE: Today I get an email from Paytrust stating that I have successfully opened and authorized my funding account. This was an email FROM Paytrust which was supposed to be CLOSING my account. The funding account referenced in the email was my original funding account that I had used for years. I called the Paytrust support and asked who sent the email. The reply was (insert sound of crickets). They had no answer. I asked for an email confirming that the account was closed. They said they could not generate emails, only the "system" could do that. I talked to supervisors etc. and got NO satisfaction AT ALL. Concerned that someone was trying to access my account illegally I call the bank this money and closed the account which is going to cost me $450 for new checks/deposit stamp etc. and the time it will take to let all of my bills that were set to autopay from the old account to a new account. STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY!!!!! read more

Zero Stars PAYTRUST a.k.a. Don'tTrustThemtoPay Holy crap, Batman! Picture a world where online bill pay service runs reliably for 10 years and then suddenly you find yourself spinning in a maelstrom of late notices and phone calls from all your utilities threatening shut-off and your mortgage company is running you down to talk to you about your delinquent account. This is the ultimate breach of a trust in a fiduciary relationship. DON'T GO THERE! It has taken me months to unscrew everything, including setting up auto pay services for my car insurance (their site is messed up too) and my credit cards, utilities and mortgage. Cut out the middle man and work with your bank, credit union or utility directly! PayTrust worked fine to manage my paper bills back in the day, but now e-bills and e-payments eliminate the paper aspect that drove me nuts (pack rat / hate filing). read more

My first Yelp review... I have been using Paytrust since maybe 1997/98 without a single problem; at the time it was called PayMyBills. However, in 2018/19 (I think), they introduced two-factor authentication (where they call your phone and give you a code to enter on the website). That worked well until October 2019 when their system stopped calling me back; so, in effect, I cannot log into my account since October 2019 and pay my bills -- it is now January 2020. I have called numerous times to resolve the issue -- I am not the only person locked out, as the tech support acknowledged in my November call that they are working on resolving the same problem for others. Now it is January and these geniuses have lost all the ticket numbers that they opened for me. It takes 10 business days for them to supposedly act on a new ticket and this will bring me to February. By now, I must have again lawyer threats from unpaid bills. I have asked to close the account but, before, to have a download of all my transactions. That service is not available anymore (they used to offer a CD download -- now just a file download should be easily doable). So I am held hostage and paying for a service which does not do anything for me, and which potentially harms my credit profile. Avoid this company: service does not work (anymore), poor customer service. I never had the need to open a Yelp account to complain about a business but this was unfortunately a good opportunity. read more

Paytrust sucks and doesnt pay the bills. Ive used Paytrust for over twenty years. Recently theyv'e gotten terrible. My bank had some kind of glitch: (their words) and one payee payment wasnt' honored. There was plenty of money so I have no idea why. I was NOT notified by paytrust. Paytrust blocked all of my account so no payments are being made. I discovered a problem when my insurance claim was denied because Paytrust had not paid the premium. I contacted paytrust. They told me the bank (Wells Fargo) had denied payment. I called Wells Fargo. They dont know why it wasnt honored. I called paytrust, they told me I had to contact Metavante and pay them. I did and was told the account would be unblocked in three days. It wasnt. I called Paytrust on the 4th day and they told me they needed to issue a "ticket" and it would be cleared up in another 3-5 days. My bills arent being paid and theres nothing I can do but wait to see if Paytrust unblocks my account. I manually pay my bills that I now have to track daily. There is no reason they should block all payees because there is a problem with one. Paytrust sucks. read more

Terrible user interface. Terrible backend bill recognition. Only recognizes 30% of my bills. Several others are "unavailable". For example, Chase. you can't pay your Chase credit card here. I've been using this service for over 15 years and now I'll have to find an alternative. read more

Today I gave Paytrust the ax. I've been with them since they were Paymybills.com - over 10 years for sure. Paytrust has slowly deteriorated and are no longer worth paying $10.95/mo. or more for something a good bank can give you for free. What made them unique was that you could have all your paper bills mailed to their South Dakota facility where they would scan them into your payment queue. To me, that tipped the scales in their favor over using my bank's bill paying system. It didn't matter if your payee didn't used e-bills or if you were out of town - the bills would pop up in your email for payment. Now I have decided to switch my bill paying to USAA bank. Four reasons: (1) Paytrust, or Intuit, won't come up with a smartphone app. Really? USAA has an excellent app, as do most banks. (2) Paytrust recently tried to incorporate an ill-conceived security enhancement that didn't work and left you unable to log into your account at all or at least in a reasonable amount of time. USAA has no such access problems. I did notice in the last couple of days, Paytrust has, at least temporarily, dumped this new secure login system. Sorry Paytrust. Too little, too late. (3) Poor customer service. While trying to figure out how to make their new secure login work, I got the runaround with their customer service and finally had to hang up. They had no solution for me and I was put on hold while they tried to find someone who might help. USAA's customer service is excellent. They care about their customers. (4) USAA will pay anyone you need to pay for free. You can't send them your paper bills, but I can live with that. read more

Horrible customer service! Do not use Paytrust! They double charged me months ago and refuse to refund the extra payment.

Here we are, four years later and Paytrust still sucks. Let the warning ring out across the land! Do not trust Paytrust.

I have been using Paytrust Bill Pay for over 20 years through all of its several evolutions. I used to love it and promoted it to everyone I knew. It was simple, understandable and dependable. I could manage my personal bills with confidence from anywhere in the world. Not anymore!!!!!!!!! It is HORRIBLE since they redid their platform about a year ago. I have had more issues in the last 6 months than the previous 20+ years put together - bills not being posted including from creditors they had posted for 2 decades, bills not being paid at all or timely, EXTREMELY confusing and unfriendly website and system!!! DO NOT GET STARTED WITH THEM! I am going through the headache of finding another service as the Paytrust abuse has not improved and it has adversely effected my credit as well. read more

Don't Even Look at this Service. Run Away! It is the worst Have been using PayTrust since it was "PayMyBills.com" Intuit bought it and renamed it PayTrust. It was a life saver. I have a chronic condition and now I am getting older. Recently, one weekend, I tried to log in to check my bills, etc. and it said they were down due to upgrade. So the following Monday, I logged in and OMG! They completely destroyed their service. Can't find anything, nothing works! I have been recommending this service to all of my friends for over 20 years. I sincerely hope no one signed up for it. They have so many of my records and it is a service I had come to depend on. On my worst days, I could sign on and make sure all my bills were paid. It took just moments and I knew everything was up to date. It is unusable now. Now, I have no idea what I am going to do. Previously, they handled online synchronizing with my bank and credit card payments as well as allowing me to set up payments to doctors, veterinarians, lawn and pasture maintenance. Rather than mailing payments to these people, I just went on line pulled up my payee list, put in how much to pay, date to send check and done. Check was sent to my payee and all records were stored for future reference. No need to dig through files, old check books, etc. It was amazing. Now - it is a nightmare. Intuit sold Quicken and apparently the format was owned by Intuit / Quicken. From the searching I have done, Quicken now has an online billpay service and from their customer service people I learned that Quicken separated from PayTrust and told them to change their format because it was proprietary programming. So, all companies have screwed all of PayTrusts long time customers. Do Not Use PayTrust! you will seriously regret it. read more

New interface is awful! I have had to pay over half my bills without seeing an invoice. It is unacceptable

This is an awesome business. Paytrust enables me to pay my bills anytime from anywhere. They consolidate my paper and present it to me electronically. Aside from some initial hicups that I had when they were PayMyBills.com and ETrade bills, these guys are absolutely terrific. My bills are delivered regularly, without exception. Paying bills couldn't be easier. They synchronize with my bank to give me a digital check register and available balances. I can search archives for old bills (much better than thrashing through file cabinets or shoe boxes). I don't know why more people don't use this service! read more

Paytrust lost my trust. Customer service refused to help and kept telling me lies. They cannot e-mail me. They cannot call me. There is no supervisor available. The audit department is unreachable. No smartphone app?! Paytrust has to get in the 21st century! This is an Intuit company. The same one who makes Mint, TurboTax, and Quicken! Intuit do you realize that if you have a failing service like Paytrust that your whole brand image suffers?! I have had PT for 10 or more years and they are not a bad company but I can't believe they don't have apps for Android! Also, the new verification/ security check to get into Paytrust is dumb and inconvenient! I want an option to turn it off! The scanning quality of bills seems to have gone down too! Very obvious bills are not being recognized and you must assign them. For me it would be more reliable to just have the bills sent to me but I like having all my bills archived in the same place. That's the only thing keeping me around. Final note. GET AN APP! read more

DONT USE PAY TRUST Yesterday Intuit Paytrust blocked our 15 year old perfect account, due to "we need your social security number and physical address". Ironically the address is on every bill they have online. BUT THE SSN?? This is NOT in the EULA nor any agreement We have from them. Not in any terms either. Why do you need our SSN - what are you really doing. Cutting a check I pay you to do , doesn't require a SSN? Now we have no less than 5 tickets open with Pay Trust, my account still blocked because they sent some random email asking for sensitive personal information, they earlier said would never ask for. We thought it was spam and phishing scams. Probably is... The Paytrust service was good, however the new support model being outsourced is the worst I have ever seen. Worse than the lowest information technology out sourcing around. It is soo bad, there are no supervisors and the reps can't speak any english properly, heavy accents and no resolve, impolite and hold times in the 30min range. They lied to us and give you the run around. PAYTRUST INTUIT are you closing your doors??? $10M loss a Qtr. is not good. Paytrust why do you need our Social Security Number? This is not a bank nor a credit card company? After fifteen years of bills and physical address', direct bank account access, this is uncalled for. We see it as discrimination, and stealing our personal information. Should we sue you? Paytrust we are leaving for a new company ran by real relevant people that have a phone app, and is way better than you ever will do. Considering your 15 year old web site that is the worst thing since 1998! Pay Trust / Intuit - Your suck so bad, your the worst, goodbye... Had to say it. read more

I THINK THE PAYTRUST PRODUCT IS BEING SHUT DOWN. Otherwise the company would never allow an enrollment error to go unaddressed for 11 days.

Wow, we have been longtime PayTrust customers and this tool has done nothing but simplify our lives and make it easy for us to manage all the bills whether we are at home or traveling. I LOVE this service and worked with Silicon Valley tech companies for almost 20 years so feel like I have some relevant experience with tech apps. For a small fee someone opens all my bills, scans them into a permanent, easily accessible online file, and alerts me to take action whether I am in the U.S. or anywhere else that my cell phone works. We run all of our personal bill paying through PayTrust and I am shocked by the comments I read here. My only criticism is that Intuit has not made it the most well known bill paying app that is deserves to be. It seems like they must have acquired this amazing company and, like many Silicon Valley acquisitions, have not invested into it the resources it deserves. I would love for it to spin out as a separate company so it could thrive as it deserves to. Such an amazing, life changing tool. read more

I hadn't paid much attention until I ran into some glitches and went to read these reviews. They're right--the service has proven increasingly kludgy over recent months and support is--no better than ever and it was never a strong point. JUST SAY NO. Paytrust worked well for me for many years, but my bank now offers comparable service. The real Paytrust trouble started when I decided to cancel. It has been incredibly difficult to cancel my account - you cannot do so online, but must call customer service, which took about an hour and meant I had to endure many attempts to re-sell me on the service. Then, because they bill in arrears, they hang on to your checking account information for a while so they can bill you one last time (for me the last bill was over a month after I cancelled). When I got a notification for my final bill, it was for more than my normal monthly charge, so I had to call again to get that adjusted. It all feels not-above-board to me. I have used Paytrust about 10 years. The service has gone down. I like to have them to retrieve my bills and autopay them. This worked fine for several years. Now, I find that frequently can't retrieve my credit card bills and State Farm bills have long been a problem for Paytrust. Recently, they did not receive my credit card bill and it went unpaid, resulting in a late payment charge. I have had to have these bills autopayed directly from the credit card company, and am having to pay State Farm directly. Paytrust is reliable when it comes to making recurring payments, such as rent or HOA assements. They don't have problems with some vendors, like utilities. Their customer service is terrible. I don't recommend them. read more

As a long time user of Paytrust all I can say is "what the heck happened"? This was once the hands free, worry free bill paying champion. One day, it got sold off and now there's no telling what can happen. The interface arbitrarily screams Past Due in big red letters when a bill just got paid, the reports function does not list payments to the same vendor if you have multiple accounts with that vendor which has resulted in duplicate payments being scheduled. I keep getting someone elses bills in my in box and nothing will get the kitchen workers to remove it or at least notify the rightful owner that he may be getting late fees. They no longer guarantee delivery of payments which means when they screw up you get to fight, theres no one to talk to about the mess and no matter how many times you try to quit, the one thing they get right is to continue billing. Putting your financial information here has gotten quite scary. read more
