Payless Cesspool was not the first company I called but will be the ONLY company I call from now on!
Long story but worth reading if you are considering a cesspool company! We had a backup with water back flowing into downstairs bathroom. I went online to one of those "find local repair service" websites and entered my information...the "recommended" company came right away. Charged me 500 dollars to snake the main drain and announced I needed a new cesspool BUT they could not find the cesspool... they quoted me a price for a new cesspool (without even locating the existing one) and asked me for cash upfront. Alarm!!!!
This is where my Payless story begins...
First a few facts: I own an older home (circa 1960) on the north shore in a very hilly area within 1 mile of beach. Home was built by a mason for himself so it is end to end brick and cement everywhere. Fancy decorative cast cement open weave block low wall fencing skirting the parameter of the walkways and stairs that surround home. Next fact you should know is being on the hilly north shore, rain water runoff required French Drains completely surrounding back patio and house foundation. This is where it got tricky! Main drain exits front of house about 7 feet under ground but French Drain crosses right over that line about 4 feet above Main Drain pipe. Yikes!
Well since the "online" approach did not work for me and considering this is an old house, I then went the "old" way and picked up a local paper and scoured the ad's for a cesspool company. I found a local company, Payless Cesspool, that said they were doing this for 30 years. I called. First Walter and Joey came, they then called for Jimmy (the owner) to come down and see what they found. Jimmy is awesome! HE KNEW RIGHT AWAY ALL ABOUT THE FRENCH DRAINS! Yes, I did need a new cesspool however, with all the decorative block walls and cement pathway/skirts and stairs and French Drains, this was going to be tricky. Well, the day came and the excavator rolled in. With 60+ year old decorative cement at stake and French Drains that flow away all my gutters and rain water run off from the hill behind my house, my heart was in my throat. Then the digging began... WOW WOW WOW is all I can say... The expertise and professionalism this crew displayed was inspiring! These guys brought down the excavator bucket within 4 inches of the cement walls and fencing and never even bumped the cement. They hand dug the Main line clear so as not to destroy the cement walkway or stairs.
Now is the part I really want to emphasize... Jimmy knew these French Drains and how important they are to protect my home and property from flooding rain runoff... The crew took extra care not to disrupt or break the drains and they even put in a brand new French Drain Main Discharge line as well as a new Sewer Main line and a new cesspool and were done by end of same day! Pricey yes, but NEAT, CLEAN, CAREFUL!!! I don't even want to think of how much money it would have cost me to repair the cement walkways/stairs/fencing if any other company had come. If you need a company who will not destroy your property, will do the job efficiently and clean and actually care about doing it right, then these guys are the ones to call!!!
