For the most part, they did a decent job. My son found a truck he was interested in this fall, so we drove in to take a look. I was surprised with the amount of higher end vehicles on the lot and in the showroom. The price is the price, no haggling which is somewhat nice. We worked through the process and had already had financing set up prior to even going, so that helped speed up the process. The salesman did a decent job, he left us alone until we had questions and set us up to do a test drive. Just as we were getting close to being done, I politely asked him if he could get the truck washed so he could drive off the lot with a clean rig. For some reason it instantly soured him and I have no idea why. If something happened just before I asked when he stepped away, don't know... but his demeanor was definitely different. There were several big splatters of bird poop, along with a layer of dried on dirt. In what world does a car dealership of this size not wash their rigs when selling?! I purchased a car from them in the spring of 2022. The car was in nice shape and the price was decent. I did find that the sunroof didn't operate correctly before the sale closed. They felt it was "probably just calibration" and promised to fix it. Before I brought it in I also realized the right front running light was out. They said they'd get that too, as it was probably just a bulb. I told I thought it was more than that, but.... It turned out the sunroof needed new motors, and the running light was an LED assembly that was over $100. They let me know they would order the parts and fix it when they got in. And they did. It did not take any pushing or arguing. They followed through and it all got done in a very timely way. It's 8 months later and the car is still doing great. read more

Truck was sold to me with less than 1/4 tank of gas, needing an oil change within 2 months. I asked if they would offer a discount or possibly fill it up, said yes and put 3 gallons in. My truck had an issue with the mirror, minor thing they promised to fix, couldn't get an appointment with their service department so I had to fix it myself. I had to call 8 different times to get my license plate, each time they said "I'll go look for it" or "I'll call you back", never did. I bought a 2012 KIA Soul with extended warranty. The engine developed a knock and now needs replacement before my first oil change was due. Talked with my salesman once and was told I'd get a call back. 2 calls later still no response. The vehicle lasted about 2 months before I took it into the shop and warranty is useless for any damage on used vehicles unless it was in pristine condition to begin with even if you did all the proper maintenance. Buyer beware I would look elsewhere if you looking for an affordable or dependable vehicle. UPDATE: My salesman reached out and contacted the warranty company and got them to cover $2,500 out of a $5,100 repair bill. $3,100 ended up coming out of my pocket for $9,000 vehicle and the company itself offered zero compensation for selling a faulty vehicle and ineffective warranty that was advertised to cover the used vehicles engine for a $100 deductible. Go elsewhere (Affordable Used Cars). I have had 3 bad experiences with these guys and can easily say they are verge scam artists. The first encounter was when purchasing my first car through them. I went to purchase a Range Rover and left with a Volkswagen to say the least. They kept pushing me into things I did not want. Wouldn't let me look at the vehicle I wanted. Wouldn't move on price (although thousands over book value). Sold me a car with bald tires. Etc. The second encounter was attempting to consign my PORSCHE CAYENNE with them. They said they would do it and wouldn't charge unless it sold. Well upon me delivering the vehicle to them, they said it needed a $200 cleaning charge. Absolute crap. I had JUST got it back from the PORSCHE DEALER from a full service and detail. I fought it and they finally said okay, you're right. Nope, a day went by and then started back on the subject asking for money. To say the least, I drove it right to AFFORDALE USED CARS down the street and sold it in 3 days. :) With no additional cleaning. The last experience was quite interesting. I was trying to purchase an Audi A7 from the Audi dealer here in town that the dealer just got in on trade. After it went thru the inspection, Audi told me it had SO much wrong with it that they weren't legally allowed to sell it to me and were going to send it to Auction.... 2 months later... Up for sale at Payless. Some poor guy probably bought it and is having nightmares of problems. They buy most of their cars from auction, regardless of condition. BEWARE! read more

Through accidental circumstance I ended up looking just about every place besides Payless first, I really wish I had just started here to begin with. Everyone is happy when they get a new car, but Ali and his crew shined on multiple levels while helping me through this purchase. What you will notice before you ever see the face of an employee at Payless, is that all of the cars are in amazing shape, and there is a fair selection to choose from. No other used vehicle dealers have a lot that looks this nice. They seem to curate some of their stock in order to have some unique models. The next thing that you will notice if you do some quick googling on your phone; they likely have the best prices for the vehicles that they stock. You should ALWAYS shop around, but over the course of weeks of looking, no one beat these guys on the mid-level sedans that I was looking at. Walk in and you are politely greeted by one of the floor men, if you have some rigs in mind, you tell them, they take you out to the car, hand you the keys and wave as you take it out to drive it. What?! No, seriously. They helped me get a far better loan, I NEVER felt pressure for ANYTHING from them, and they were transparent about every detail on the vehicle from price to CarFax and in between. I experienced the most sincere and professional customer treatment that there is to be had in Anchorage. They offer REALLY great aftermarket warranty options. They offer customization features at an amazing price (I got a tint and awesome autostart, even some paint touch-up because I am picky), and they were kind enough to put me in a loaner while my new car was getting these things done after purchase. I could go into a lot more detail but I just want you to know that you should give these guys a shot before ANYONE else in town. I WENT to everyone else, and wasn't happy for a hundred reasons. Then I found Payless. They will always get my business first, now that I have experienced their professional and personal courtesy. Don't be shied away because of the beautiful and fancy cars on the front lot, you could drive away in one, I did. The next day I came in with a cash hold deposit because he said if I want it I should bring a deposit because "so many people wanted to buy it" so I did. When I came back about a week later to bring the rest of my down payment, they told me there were no banks who would give me a loan & openly admitted to changing the amount of money I make on my loan application. I had not signed contract but salesperson Solat became very condescending when I had the nerve to change my mind. He said that he was "frustrated" and had spent a lot of time completing paperwork. So, I guess when you go to Payless Used Cars, you do not have the right to change your mind. Great no hassle experience with this dealer and Russell, my sales rep. The car I purchased wasn't discounted at all but was in awesome condition! Russell was patient with me as I figured out my financing, in the end I got my first Mommy mobile with all the options I needed. DVD player, third row seat, navigation, etc. The sales process at Payless compliments my bottom line personality. Could I have gotten more of a discount on the car? Probably, however finding a financeable car with luxury options in my price range wasn't easy. Russell listened to me and didn't try to sell me something I didn't want. Worst car sales place ever!!! The salesman was horrible and this was the worst experience ever! I had more then enough money for the car I wanted but since I wouldn't finance through them so they get the kickbacks, I could tell he didn't want to sell me the car. He said the doc fee was $500... that's not including DMV fee. I have been to many places never seen the doc fees so high. Wouldn't even go down 200$. The ending price ended up being way over the price they advertised for the car and its worth. I ended up just leaving. I had the money to pay that but decided they didn't deserve my business or money. What a joke it's clear what he was doing. I have a family member that went there also a few years ago and they tried to back out of selling them the car because someone came in after with more money and financing through them. I cannot say enough about Jin and the crew over at Payless. I must admit I initially avoided them because of the stigma of the used car lots. But they had the car that I was looking for and it was in great condition, so I went in and had a chat. We went on he test drive and I fell in love with the car and then we were talking numbers about my trades. That's right two, Jin was able to give me very very good trade numbers without even seeing my second vehicle. And while they were getting the paperwork and loan approved, they just gave me the keys to the car and told me they would call me when it was all approved and ready. There was never any pressure, car was in great shape, as I have had it inspected twice by two different shops and both say the same thing that the car is in excellent condition. Really though these guys are there to help you and get you away from the large pressure tactics of the main auto lots. read more

The first time I was here they were very laid back and not very pushy. This time it was for two other cars since the one we wanted had sold. The guy was nice but upon asking out price range told us the cars we wanted weren't the cars for us and was a little rude about it. He just wasn't selling the car anymore and trying to talk us out of it and acting like because of our ideal price range we wouldn't be willing to go up a bit or be able to afford it. We tested it anyways then tested out a second one. I loved the second one but he went into that pushy sales mode. We said we needed to check a couple other options but it was definitely in the top of my list. Then he demanded to know what was holding us back from buying that second. The guy with me noted we still hadn't decided exactly what we wanted or compared all of our options. The guy kept questioning why we were dragging our feet and why wouldn't we commit, this was met with a response "well. I want her to get the best deal. I don't want her getting something that won't work our for her needs or get her ripped off or anything." The guy became very annoyed and offended and demanded how we were ripping her off. For starts you're selling a USED chevy car that's a year or two old for 10,000 more than I can buy a BRAND NEW 2016 car at the dealership. We were honestly considering that second car but after he started getting an attitude with us, if anything we'll buy that make/model from another sales lot and not here. read more
