To begin, let me emphasize that we have "No Soliciting" signs littered across our property, yet solar companies in Southern California, especially Solar city, continue to disrespect our wishes by knocking on our door. It's like they believe the signs do not apply to them.
This time, a Paxton Energy representative took it to an entirely new level of disrespect. I'm working in my backyard with a loud pressure, washer, and despite our clearly posted signs, he decided to walk around our property line when no one answered the door. I heard the gate clink over the sound of the pressure washer and heard a woman's voice say, don't open that and I thought it was our caregiver, so when I peeked around the corner, I caught him just as the gate closed. He immediately tried to assure me everything was fine and that he was sent by a neighbor who had solar panels. I later found out this was a complete lie. There is a little confusion if he actually started into the backyard or not but he did do something to the gate?
Standing there confused, I asked him who he was, and he said he was with Paxton solar company. He wouldn't stop talking, trying to sell me solar panels over the sound of my power washer in the backyard. I told him to go away, but he kept hounding me about some special. I told him I don't care about your goddamn special just leave and he kept arguing with me. What I don't understand is what part of the no soliciting signs made you think you were going to get a warm welcome yelling at me through my backyard gate? He finally left, but then it started eating away at me so it took me a minute to crawl through the mess to get to the front door to try to talk to him only to see him across the street at another neighbor's house, looking around in their driveway.
I yelled to get his attention not start anything and told him that he needs to tell his boss about ignoring the "No Soliciting" signs is not okay and if they don't stop, we're going to have trouble? He got an attitude and started yelling back, even challenging me to a fight. Now he was cursing at me and walking down the street, trying to impress some trainee woman he was with yelling at me, saying I was trying to show off in front of my neighbors
The reason for our "No Soliciting" signs (which is none of your business by the way, but) is that my 85-year-old mother-in-law with dementia lives with us. She becomes very agitated and upset when people knock on our door unannounced. This can cause a significant disruption in her day and our household. We put up the signs to prevent such disturbances, but it seems like they are often ignored by companies like Paxton Energy.
I went inside and called Paxton Energy as the guy waited outside for me to come out and fight him at the end of the cul-de-sac? to report this disrespectful representative. I mean, seriously, look at the photos - there are "No Soliciting" signs everywhere. Yet, he still had the audacity to come to my house and open/shake or, whatever he did to my gate, only to get an attitude when I was upset.
There was a bit of confusion because of the noise of the power washer, I'm not 100% sure if he stepped foot into my backyard but I'm sure if I hadn't been there, he would've just walked into my backyard if the woman was not there to tell him stop. So, all I can say for this company is that there are some real pieces of shit that slip through the cracks, but this was completely unacceptable. read more
