Got our second cat from PAWS City. Such a nice guy. The staff were great, gave us lots of information about him. Easy adoption process.

We adopted our kitty from PAWS three months ago and so happy that we did! It is the best thing happened during this quarantine. The adoption process was easy. We had to submit a questionnaire online and schedule a 30 minute visit to meet the kitty in person. And then when we decided to bring her home, PAWS took care of everything. I appreciated that kitty was spayed and vaccinated up to date and get an adoption paperwork with medical record and other infos. You also get a generous coupon you can use at mudbay for food and litter :) We are looking to adopt another kitty from PAWS anytime soon and I highly recommend this place if you're looking for a kitty friend!

The day before we paid a visit to paws, my husband and I drove around to literally every single animal shelter in the area looking for a kitten to adopt. We even hit up a hole in the wall adoption center in the back of a petco- two times a cat that we had been interested in meeting had been adopted literally right as we walked through the door. I'm glad that there's a high turn over around here but damn! At the end of the long night my husband calls PAWS and the nice lady who answers the phone tells us that they have some kittens that will be available to adopt the next day who weren't listed on the website yet, and told us to keep an eye on the website in the mean time. So the next day when I get off of work, the first thing we do is drive over to meet the little babies and see if any of them are a good fit. We arrive an hour after the rescue opens and ALL of the new kittens are already either gone or spoken for except for one! We meet the gentleman who was fostering the kittens along with their mother (he works at the rescue) and he was the nicest, most caring guy to the animals. I could honestly tell that he cared deeply about the homes that the cats were going to and were going to miss them- he told us stories about the personalities of all the cats and in the 6 weeks that he had them it was obvious that he bonded with them and was sad to see them go. It's amazing to find a pet rescue with employees who actually care about the animals because again, we had been to every single one in the area and only here and one other place met that criteria. The majority of other pet rescues and adoption centers we visited weren't nearly as clean, nor were the staff as attentive and interested in the well-being of the animals themselves or where they'd be going. We were introduced to little sammie and really lucked out, she's such a good girl! The play area was very clean (as was the entire facility) and the cats all had plenty of room to hang out and play. There were a few sick cats (not achoo sick, feline leukemia sick) that were in their own room and needed single cat homes but they seemed well taken care of and happy to be there as well. We knew immediately that we would be taking her home so after we visited we filled out the paperwork, paid the reasonably priced fee and brought her home. It was an easy process and exactly two months later she is still healthy and thriving. She likes doing yoga with me, riding around in her cat-stroller and collecting corn dog sticks under the couch. I can't say enough good things about this place!

I'm so glad I found this place! I recently adopted a kitty friend from PAWS Cat City and the staff was so friendly and made it all so easy for me. The thing I love about this place is that unlike most shelters, they don't require you to be ready to adopt same-day, and they'll let you take your time and get to know the cats before you make that decision (you can also just go in to spend time with them regardless of if you're adopting or not). Of course, they can't guarantee that the cat you like will still be available if you choose to wait, but that's because their purpose is to find good homes for the cats as soon as they can, and if you need a little time to consider, there's a 24 hour hold option. The facility is pretty spacious and feels more like an apartment for the cats than it does a shelter, and that makes it a lot easier to meet the cats and get to know them. The place itself is clean and their prices for adoption and supplies are competitive and fair. Overall a great place.

    Now know as Meowshawn Lynch

I've adopted two kitties from PAWS Cat City. My first kitty I adopted was nicknamed Blaze and was a senior kitty who was all black. I renamed him Hiro Kitty because he was a dude and instead of Hello Kitty, I named him Hiro Kitty (aka Fatty). He LOVED being the only kitty and chirped to me often. He liked to be outside and was such a sweet kitty. I adopted him when he was 12 years old and had him up until this October. I loved him very much but recently passed away to greener pastures. My second kitty I adopted is with me today. He was nicknamed Chase but I've renamed him Meoshawn Lynch after my favorite Seahawks player Marshawn Lynch. Meowshawn is also a black kitty with a bit of white fur. He's 3 years old. Very athletic and LOUD. But the best companion second to Hiro, of course. The volunteers are really knowledgeable and kind. They know their favorite kitties and have always been fun to work with. LOVE PAWS!

Benny and Freddy, who used to be Barney and Fred (ala The Flintstones). They don't look like toons!

We can't say enough about Cat City and PAWS! We've been involved with PAWS for many years, but had never had the need to adopt a cat until now. Our last cat died several years ago, and we hadn't decided whether or not we could go through losing another one. But, if you're "cat people", life isn't complete without at least one on your lap. So we checked the Cat City website, and saw Barney and Fred there. They are litter-mates, and needed to be adopted together. Lucky for us, we wanted two cats, and they filled the bill. They were almost one year old, but definitely still kittens, so they told us they'd be happy with us, and we brought them home. They are more entertaining than any movie or TV show, especially in this time of sheltering at home. PAWS is unique in so many ways, from their wildlife rescue and care facility to the dog and cat adoption side of it. There is truly no place like it! We're so grateful to the staff who lovingly cared for our boys until we found them...

Love this place. I was really jittery about adopting my own cat for the first time, so I bounced from cat room to cat room for about two hours and the volunteers were totally patient. I never felt rushed (well, until they came to tell me there was only 5 min left until they closed for adoptions, which I had known was coming and was on me for losing track of time). There were a bunch of cats that I was really liked, so it was more just a matter of being able narrow it down and positive gut feelings. In the end I took home my new BFF Lulu, now rechristened Sushi, and walking all over my keyboard as I write this. With their adoption materials, I was able to take her to the vet for a checkup for free, had a list of all her medical history, free food and litter from Mudbay, free 45 days of pet insurance...it was great. Protip: I found it really helpful to spend some time on their website the night before I came in, it lists all the cats currently available for adoption, so I narrowed it down a little in advance and came in with a mental list of cats I knew I wanted to meet. They can also hold a cat for 24 hours if you need to sleep on a decision. The only negative for me was just that it was a bit stressful since other people were coming in and adopting cats left and right much faster than I had anticipated while I was looking, so just be ready for that. But that's not PAWS fault, plus it's good to know that cats are finding new homes so quickly.

Hobbes, a gorgeous male cat who was born to catch mice!

It was quite a shock when my mother-in-law's cat died suddenly. After a while, I made the gentle suggestion that she get another companion. She checked a couple of no kill shelters around the Seattle area but didn't have any luck. I took her here and after meeting nearly every cat in the place, she ended up falling in love with a small wisp of a kitten. The staff were very friendly and during our two hours there, I observed them interact with about ten separate customers. Some of them were clearly window shopping and just wanted to play with some cats, while others were ready to take home a cat that very day! During the adoption processes, the corresponding staffer was patient and answered any questions that arose. Each person who adopted a cat was given a folio with the cat's medical records, a coupon for a free vet exam*, a brochure of pet insurance (with discounts), and Mud Bay coupons for cat litter and food. The communal public tables were clean and so were the cat spaces and cages. Parking is street only so it's at a definite premium. I was prepared to drop off my MIL and wait nearby but I scored a spot right in front which meant I got to play with cats too! Be careful when you parallel park/pull back onto Roosevelt. I nearly got clipped by a car. *The free cat exam can be redeemed at Cats Exclusive and other vets around the city. I want to give a nod to Dr. Jennifer Fligiel and the folks at Cats Exclusive who have taken care of our cat since we relocated here.

I have donated consistently to cat groups in the past ten years (Spay and Neuter, MEOW, Cat Alley,…read moreHumane Society, King County Animal Shelter, etc.). When I could no longer care for my cat, surprisingly, it was SAS that came through and helped me. I had been told on forums that a group like SAS would in all likelihood euthanize my cat. My memory of SAS from ten years ago was a section devoted to cats in small cages down the hall from a room where dogs were howling as if all Hell had broken out. I was distressed that the cats, all of whom were quietly sitting in their small cages, would have to endure dog mayhem at its most repellent. But a week ago, I visited SAS and surrendered my beloved cat. The room had changed: it was soundproofed, so that cats--still in small cages, could at least not be subject to the internal dog howling. The volunteers were all pleasant and empathetic. I stayed for an hour, enough time to say good-bye to my cat. They have a foster program for cats that have been surrendered. It is not exactly clear, from the website, how they operate, though. Are most of the cats surrenders or feral, for instance? What is the chance of a cat being euthanized because of age, behavior issues, or chronic health problems? I know the Humane Society has much nicer "digs" for their cats, which is why I hoped against all hope that I could surrender him there, which is where I adopted him as a kitten 8-9 years ago. They never got back to me. I can, in good conscience, sing the praises of SAS. They came through for both me and my cat when least expected ("kitty season"). He has a chance for a new and better life. For that, I am eternally grateful. Unlike other non-profits, of course, they do receive government funding. It does seem odd, though, that people who donate to the non-profits often are ignored by the very same non-profits in time of need.
