My cat had a few small patches of matted fur, and I was worried they were causing her pain. I called Paws-a-Tively and they told me that I could bring her in within the hour and they could help her right away. They shaved off the matter fur in about 2 minutes and said there was no charge because of what a small thing it was. The staff were very nice and professional, and I will definitely be bringing my cat back next time she needs any grooming. read more

I took my dog here for a quick nail trim. They were friendly and took us right in. However, when I warned them that my dog hates to have his nails trimmed and suggested them using a muzzle, they put him on a table with a tiny rope/leash thing around his neck. Then they guy asked if I could come back with my dog. This made my dog worse and he ended up biting me for the first and only time ever!! They only got 3 nails trimmed, i was bitten, and my dog still needed a nail trim. Therefore, they didnt seem that professional. read more

I took Samantha to get groomed last week and I can't say enough positive things this place!! Samantha hates being left anywhere, so I was nervous about how she would behave. When I went to pick her up (two hours earlier than I expected her to be ready, which was great!), she was happy and not anxious at all! The groomers said she did well, which speaks more to their ability to control her and make her feel comfortable than it does about her temperament. The price was great, we got a goody bag and a nice bow on the way out, and people are still commenting on how soft her fur feels! We will definitely be back! read more

We love Pawsatively and all of the team there; Lana and Margie are amazing. Great cuts and great service, our dog loves them (this is saying a lot because he was kicked out of another groomer for misbehaving). We recommend 110%! read more

They take great care of my dog baby! He always looks so fresh and clean and they actually LISTEN when I describe how I want him cut.

I've been going to Paws-A-Tively for three years now and service has been consistently top notch. My dog Shadow is extremely skittish. They've always treated him well and made him comfortable enough to get a full grooming done with every visit. I now have two additional dogs and Lana, Robbie, and Peter, and the rest of team continue to do a fantastic job with all three dogs. Highly recommended. read more

We went after receiving a few recommendations from long-time customers, and our puppy Havanese had a terrible experience. They basically shaved her without even calling to discuss it with us, even though we indicated we knew she had some mats but wanted to try and keep her coat at about 3 inches long. The "cut" was very uneven choppy, much like the owner of the Coton said in a previous review. I was literally in tears when I saw her. After we called to complain, the owner/manager called and was very friendly, offering a complimentary grooming if we came back, which I appreciated. Then, the woman who did the "grooming" called us and left a ranting message basically about how she did us a favor. It was an outrageous voicemail in which she was extremely defensive and insulting to us as owners, and for that reason I would never return despite the friendliness of the owner/manager. read more

I'm a regular customer to Paws-A-Tively, but after the last appointment there is just no way I will ever bring my dog here again. Backstory: i have a 5 lb toy poodle who loves everyone and is very well adjusted. So, it was odd when I received a call from the shop telling me that my dog was "freaking out" and that I should pick him up asap. I'm not one of those pet owners who coddles their animal and thinks that they can do no wrong. I honestly thought that my dog might just be being a brat, so I rushed over to pick him up to see what was going on. First: they shaved of all of my dogs hair (including his whiskers). They didn't even shave it evenly! His fur is choppy in some areas and completely shaved off in others. It looks like a child shaved him. Second: my dog was terrified. He's gone to this place a number of times and has always been excited and happy when I arrive to pick him up. This time, he was freaking out, very nervous, and spent the rest of the day hiding under the couch. I don't want to make any accusations about his treatment at this place, but something was definitely different than his prior appointments. Finally, it might have been an off day for these guys (because I've taken my pets here before with no issues), but given how crappy my dog looks now and how terrified he was after the visit---definitely wouldn't recommend this place to my worst enemy. read more

It is shocking to me how many good reviews this place has. One star is extremely generous for the service my dog received here. I stopped in about 6 months ago for a nail trim for my terrier mix. Since it was just a nail clipping I stayed in the lobby area by the counter while waiting for his nails to be cut. The nail clipping was HORRIBLE. I have never heard my dog scream or yelp like that before. He was clearly in a lot of pain during the experience. When he was finally done (an excrutiating 2 minutes later) they told me that I should carry him home because serveral of his nails would not stop bleeding after being cut. He's had his nails cut many, many times before and I have never before heard the screaming/yelping/crying noise that came from him while the Paws-a-tively "groomer" cut his nails. I also understand that every once in a while the groomer will cut a nail too short and it will bleed a little. But this was like nothing I have every experienced before - litterally - 4 out of 10 nails bleeding so much that they told me he should not walk home. I still blame myself for not stopping them mid-clip. If you love your dog do NOT take him/her here. read more

My family and I have been taking our pups here since I was a little girl. The staff is friendly, the price is reasonable and they know what they are doing. My dogs always come out looking cute and smelling great. I always tell my friends to Paws-A-Tively and I think you should too! read more

We love bringing our Shih Tzu here! She is only 7 lbs and is always taken very good care of. I wish it was this easy to find a good groomer all the time! They are always prompt and friendly too! read more

This was Oliver's first time here. Everyone was so friendly. Oliver has crazy fur, and is difficult to groom. When we arrived to pick him up, he looked so amazing. He smelled clean, his fur was soft, and he seemed to be so excited to get get his much needed overhaul ;). We would definitely recommend them!!! read more

Friendly people, but poor service. Wouldn't ever spend the money to go there again. Save your time and go elsewhere

After scheduling an appointment for my cat to be groomed, I brought her in on a Saturday morning at 7:30 am. At no point was I asked what her personality was like during the 10 minutes on the phone. When my cat and I arrived, the groomer asked if she bit. Yes, I replied she is a cat and plays. The groomer made up her mind at that moment and said "I will not groom her". I asked why none of this was discussed over the phone, the other lady said she thought she had. Not true. They could tell at this point I was frustrated and upset because I went out of my way to this appointment. They said they could assess my cat so they took her out of her carrier and immediately put a leash on her which was attached to a pole overhead. My cat was stressed already, they did not attempt to do anything to calm her. Instead they took her hind legs and started cutting her claws. After 5 clips my cat was scared and agitated and they again told me they would not be able to continue. At this point I felt that they gave my cat no chance and had made up their mind when she came threw the door growling in her carrier. They paid for my cab and called another place that takes "the bad cats" which was down the street. This experience was humiliating and could have been prevented if they would have asked me anything prior to me coming in about my cat. I also believe that if you are in a type of business it's discriminatory to reject customers based on certain traits. Cats are cats. I will not recommend their services to anyone. read more

I've been taking my labradoodle Archie here for over two years and there is honestly no other place I will ever go! Lana and her team couldn't be friendlier and are so easy to work with. I get asked ALL the time where I get his haircut, so I know other people think he looks as cute as I do! read more

A wonderful experience at Paws-A-Tively, which is normal, and after 13 years with our dog, rates the highest with us! Our Wheaten is hard to groom with his fuzzy hair, and he begs to go into the shop. Lana and the whole crew bend over backwards to accomodate us and we can't say enough about the quality of their work and their kindness and professionalism. Many times I've been stopped on the street and asked who does our dog's grooming and always recommend this place. To Tom T - yes, matted fur can be tricky and Poms have that thick fur, so proper grooming is important. Can't speak to what happened when your wife was there, but I can say that Paws-A-Tively is a great place. To the people at Paws - you have many, many loyal customers who love you! YOU ARE WONDERFUL!!!! Thanks for the many years you have helped us and been so good to our dog. You have been in business for many, many years, and there is a reason you have so many repeat customers. Don't know anyone else who would try so hard to please and know how much you give to the community. It's great that you groom shelter dogs for free before adoption events, and that you wait after hours often when some clients are running late. This is a place that cares. We love you!!!! read more

Seriously, how does this place have such good reviews? We've taken our dog here three times, and each time he has come out looking ridiculous. The response every time was "this was what you asked for". For the love of god, when I ask you to take off one inch, I don't mean five inches. I'm paying way too much to be dealing with this garbage. read more

Great service, great cut, and friendly staff that goes above and beyond. Super happy! I love that they keep a card with all your pets info including vet contact info. I don't know if the bag of treats is a regular thing or maybe just for Easter but I thought it was the cutest thing. read more

Paws-A-Tively - Charlie with his new cut. Ready to head back to sunny San Diego. - Pet Groomers Near Me - Chicago, Illinois

What is up with this site??? I have written a fantastic review of this shop and it, along with the other great reviews, has been taken off! They are the best! I was in there one time and they were grooming shelter dogs for free, so they look great to be adopted. Why does yelp take all the good stuff off this business? I have written other reviews (good) on different places & they are still there. HEY YELP.... DO YOU HAVE A PROBLEM WITH PAWSATIVELY? read more

I've used Paws-a-Tively's services for years. Bobbie, one of the owners is always friendly and attentive. My dog's cuts have always been professionally done. My opinion has been reduced recently due to the rather indifferent attitude by the English gentleman running the front of the business - he is short with people and not at all friendly. In addition, prices have risen. With the combination of attitude and pricing, the business is no longer five-star to me. read more

Love this place. Anyone who knows my wife or I is well aware that our dog Hogan (a black lab/short haired pointer mix) is incredibly important to us. We faced a little bit of a difficult task after adopting him 3 years ago in that he would get really anxious when left in a kennel around other dogs. That said, leaving him at Paws-A-Tively for the first time made me more than a little nervous. My fears were quickly set aside by the warm welcome we received upon walking in. The groomer took the time to pet him and play with Hogan a little before brining him in back, which made me feel a lot better. Two hours later, I came to pick him up and our boy's black coat was shiny, his tail was wagging and his bandana they put on him was not girly (have to admit, I thought the dragons bandana was kind of cool). Fast forward three years and a location change later and dog walks in happily and my concerns are zero. After experiencing Paws-A-Tively and seeing the way some of the big box stores treat their pets in grooming, we won't go anywhere else. read more

My dog loves this groomer! They are super flexible and very friendly. I like that it is a small place and they know my dog well even though he doesn't go all that often. read more

Hi. I live one block away. Well, as fate has it... this weekend my border collies escaped from my house. A client of theirs saw them unleashed hanging out on LaSalle, across the street. She gathered them up and Paws-A-Tively kept them overnight! The next day the employee saw our lost dog sign and called us. The client and Paws-A-Tively SAVED our dogs. That's above and beyond anything I have ever experienced. Can I give more than 5 stars? THANK YOU! Obviously true dog lovers here. read more

I just moved to the Gold Coast and went into Pawsatively on Friday to have my Maltese groomed. What a turn-off. It was total chaos, The place was very noisy and not very clean. DO NOT EVER TAKE YOUR CAT HERE! Initially I was told they offer cat grooming. I live around the corner so made arrangements to bring her early and I was assured they would do her grooming first. I was also assured they would call me as soon as she was ready and she would be kept in the crate I brought her in. My assurances went by the wayside. She wasn't ready for over 3 hours. When I arrived she was in a cage not her crate. As I walked out with the owner telling me what a good girl she is and what a sweet cat, she proceeds to tell me they don't like cat grooming and they don't want to do it at all. She also proceeded to tell me how her sister had to go to the hospital because of cats bites. When I got home I noticed two of her back claws were clipped so close they were bleeding and the rest were not trimmed at all. She was damp and there was so much loose fur I had to brush her several times once I got her home. I'm not even sure they gave her a bath (which was agreed upon after they asked me if they could simple use a dry type shampoo). The worst of it is that several days after she was there she developed a 104 fever with respiratory distress. First question the vet asked was if she had been to a kennel or groomer because she had what they call kennel cough. If they don't want to groom cats then say so. I paid $75 for the grooming then another $150 for the vet. I've been so livid about this I haven't even been able to write a review until now. read more

I have been taking my dogs here for years. They really are wonderful people and good at what they do. It's hard to find a clean reputable groomer who not only does a good job but genuinely cares for the animals. I would and do recommend this place. The staff make all the difference. read more

This was my first time at Paws-A-Tively, and we'll definitely be back! Finding a good groomer felt intimidating, so we procrastinated on taking our Golden in for the first time - but, today was easy from start to finish. I dropped her off at 8 am and picked her up at 11:30. Everyone was so kind and helpful! Kinzie came out of her appointment looking great- they listened to what we wanted done and did a fantastic job. Recommend! read more

I can hardly believe the two emails me and my husband received in response to the review we placed on yelp from this establishment. Both were rude, unprofessional and offered no compensation or apologies for the poor service me and my 2yr 4lb pom received during his grooming. It's common knowledge amongst groomers that you do not shave bald spots into a poms coat because it might not grow back. I'm surprised they have been in business this long. We were the recipients of terrible service along with 2 rude emails!! I am a freelance reporter and I intend to let as many people as possible know about the awful service we received. If you love you pet do not take them to PawsATively. read more

I am very disappointed that I was not informed of the accident the groomer had when he cut my dog. I understand the risk when grooming animals but I must say Paws-A-Tively totally mishandled this experience. I called to report the incident the very next day. I told Peter and Margie that my dog was cut on the neck and that she bled. Margie's response was that they didn't see it and they were sorry. Needless to say, if wounds are not treated timely, an infection can develop and cause a bad situation, not to mention the pain and suffering of our pets, the expense, and inconvenience. So folks, if you take your dog to this place and there is an accident, this is what you get, an I'm sorry. This should make your dog all better? read more

My husband and I have been bringing our Scottish Terrier Stanley here for years. He is not the easiest little dog to handle but they have assured me he is a little prince while he is there. I brought my have bichon-half lhaso here the other day. She came out great!!! They were really nice when I dropped her off and pet her to calm her down. She came out super happy. I take my shih tzu Wally here to be groomed. He was very terrified at the other 3 places I took him to (we shopped around and I based my decision on his reaction to meeting the groomers) and this was the only place where he was comfortable. We have been going to Paws-A-Tively since they opened and our little girl wanted to "see the puppies!" Well, we bought her a toy Poodle and would not think of going anywhere else. My 10 year old 6lb dog has been going here for years. Sge always left looking like a show dog and it was probably the best cuts she has ever had. In the past year something has changed.
