Funny, first review I see by Robert E. half mirrors why I'm writing this. My wife and I had stopped in for a beer and an appetizer. It was about 5 and they had plenty of staff looking like they're getting ready for business to pick up. Aps were good and decent portions, can't hurt a beer, prices were very reasonable, service could have been a little better but not bad. Now the point. The blonde waitress, tackily dressed ( the guys looked fine) was loud and obnoxious! I told my wife within 5 minutes of our arrival that I'd fire her on the spot! She waited on nobody just hung around behind the bar being noisy and stupid. My guess is she was already 3 drinks into it. The atmosphere otherwise was pretty good. Before rolling into Sioux Falls for an extended weekend we looked up restaurants close to where we were staying ( downtown ) and we decided on PAve due to its location and it looked like a fun place for dinner and drinks. First off we noticed it's a younger crowd and somewhat loud so be prepared for that. We ordered the Ranch Grille ( Chicken ) & the Philly, both were a decent size and served with a large portion of tots. Everything looked very good but unfortunately it lacked flavor and was just generally not very good so we were pretty disappointed. On the bright side the prices are quite reasonable, especially for being in a downtown area and our server, Ellie, did a really nice job of taking care of us and her many other tables. read more

I have been to paves more times than I can count. it has been the best but until I moved to North Dakota and got a new license the haven't let me in for some reason. Mike the bartender gets 5 stars everything about this place gets 5 stars.. but the DJ is why this place got ONE star outta me . I'm annoyed. I CAME TO DANCE !!!!! I WAS a patron at this establishment for many years, I have had zero negative encounters during my visits whether it's with security, bartenders, barbacks, Dj, and all other staff. Below is a detailed incident of what took place during my visit to this establishment on 8/7/20; I walked in the front door and was greeted by smiling faces, I said "Hello I hope you guys are having a great night", they responded "Yes it's picking up". I get my Identification back from the kind gentleman and proceed up stairs. I walk out to the patio; then I proceed to the bar, as I am standing there I notice the bartenders do not even look in my direction I have noticed this in the past but I wanted to give benefit of doubt they were busy, but this time went a little different. Standing at the bar with my debit card out and ready I get approached by Mr. Rob he states "Hey can you come outside and talk with me" ,I respond "Yes of course". Currently at this point in time I'm a little baffled. I remained positive cause maybe he just wanted to have a conversation with me, I was thinking this because I frequent the establishment, because I live extremely close by. Upon Mr. Rob and myself exiting the establishment he requested my identification again, I had no problem providing it. Thoughts at this point is maybe my identification didn't register properly upon entry, but it was to put me on some sort of no entry list. I want to be clear I listened to Mr. Rob and followed his instructions in other words I "complied". After we are outside Mr. Rob instructs me that the establishment known as Pave is denying me entry because the bartenders simply do not want me in the establishment. Mr. Rob was very polite and told me that the establishment would have more details and will let me know. The decision was made all I can do is respect it and figure out what, if, and/or when I broke, neglected, disrespected, or disregarded and of the establishments policies. I will oblige and follow any process said forth to try and figure out what the core issue is and the only way I feel to do that is to allow the process to ventilate itself out. Chosen attire in the establishment for said night was black shoes, black jeans, and a Black Lives Matter/ Coke a cola t-shirt. I stated my attire because I'm curious if that played a role. Another note; I went to my Facebook messages and noticed I applied in 2016 for a bartender position, the message was left on read. I was not even allotted a response even though at that point in time I was a Licensed and registered bartender. The establishment opened the message and never responded and for weeks they were still seeking I also walked in one afternoon with my credentials to apply in person, called back a few weeks later and an Acquaintance I know Whom didn't have the same credentials as I had had landed the position; meanwhile I wasn't afforded an interview. I travel for a living and been to many places. I found this place on a fluke one day and took the opportunity enjoy their nice outdoor area, as it was summer. I returned every visit to Sioux Falls! Now that it's winter, I'm looking forward to my experience there tonight! The was staff was very friendly and service was great! I was surprised at how few people were here! I recall coming several years ago when it was a shoulder to shoulder environment. We were able to sit at a rooftop table with a fire pit. The fire pits put out quite a bit of heat, so it was comfortable sitting outside in 40 degrees. Drinks were good. Waitress routinely came out to take drink orders so we didn't have to go inside. Huge group of buddies from in and out of town wanted to meet up for a drink. One buddy's little brother came with a vertical ID and a birth certificate because he had just turned 21. As far as I can tell the only thing they train the bouncers to be able to read are horizontal SD drivers licenses because a literal birth certificate doesn't work (along with a valid ID indicating an age of 21, just vertical not horizontal). Out of staters beware they may not be able to read yours. Our group of 15 happily spent our money elsewhere. But the bouncers felt powerful so I guess it's a win win read more

If I could I would give it no stars. I went with a party of 6 for drinks on the roof top and the service was terrible. Everyone got their drinks while I waited for 45 minutes and sill never got my drink. I'm pregnant so I first asked if they could make a alcohol free strawberry daiquiri and she said yes they could, 15 minutes later the waitress came back and said they didn't have a blender to make a daiquiri. Of all of the meals I had during my trip to FSD, this was my favorite restaurant because of the food, drinks and service. Note that there are more (and less!) fancy places on this busy street of restaurants and shops. Pave is a bit more like a bar than the others, but don't let the plethora of TVs, high-top tables and the long bar fool your stomach. Pave's food is a great combination of bar-food-favorites and some unique twists on favorites. I was served at the bar by Austin, who helped open this concept in the area. From our conversation, Austin has lived and worked in other [bigger] cities and knows a thing or two about what it takes to stand out. I enjoyed a handcrafted vodka cocktail with lemon and muddled berries (sorry, don't remember the name). They have a wide selection of draft and bottled beers, as well as a fully-stocked bar. Both items I had stood out as reasons for me to come back and for me to Yelp about them: 1) the GIANT pretxel that others have Yelp'd about is amazing. Austin didn't stop me from ordering it for myself, but he knew that there is no way that one human could/should eat this much bread in one sitting. The thing was literally bigger than my hand, with three dipping sauces inserted into the pretzel loops. The dough was the lightest pretzel bread I have ever eaten and the sauces were homemade goodness. If Pave opened up a pretzel stand in every mall or airport, a certain other handmade pretzel company would be out of business! 2) Fried-Green-Tomato-BLT-Caesar-Salad. I can't remember if it really was called a "caesar" salad, but the romaine lettuce was the same. The romaine was around the stack of fried green tomatoes interstacked with fresh red tomatoes and thick-cut smoked bacon slices. It was pretty big (too much for me after trying to eat as much of the pretzel as I could). The evening crowd, even on a Wednesday, was a mix of locals and people in town staying downtown. There is outside seating for the few months of the year that permit it. Note that Pave is 21 years and older. read more

If I could give this bar ZERO stars that's what I would rate it. This is easily the worst bar in the United States, not even because of the bar staff but because of the people at the bar.. I've been here for less than 10 minutes and have witnessed 3 fights inside the bar, all broken up by other patrons, not the staff. This is not a safe bar for people not from here. The food was great and for a good price! I got the chislic "with fries" except I swapped the fries for a ceasar salad, which tasted great. Loved the chislic also though I was told what we got was more cooked than normal. So if you like it really raw, might wanna give them a heads up. This restaurant reopened on February 22, 2017. It had been closed due to damage done to Pave by a building that collapsed next to Pave.

Pave is downtown and does not have a parking unless you are going to park early in the day which is just parking space by the main road. They serve popcorn while you are there. The athmosphere is for a crowd that is mostly single. Likes to get drunk and is just where friends can meet. Overall I would not come here unless I was still in college. read more

I was very disappointed to find that my entire bus load of girls for my bachelorette party were asked to stand in an extremely long line. We were there to spend money and have a good time...we were immediately turned away. I understand that people wait in line but I also have been that person in line and have had a wedding party or a bachelorette party cut in front of me and I had to understand...knowing that they would be spending a lot more money than me at the establishment.
