I grew up in Sweden where hot sauna culture is part of life! The booking site online works well, but I would say the best to do is to call in your appointment. Ok, I want to first start off by saying the staff there are A1. Now let's get to my story. I walk in there thinking one IV drip would cure my problem. If you want to know my problem here it goes.. I had running poo for 4 days and I did nothing about it, I still went to the gym with the help of pre workout. I just never sat down but I was going to the bathroom about 6 times a day. I also spent an extra 3 days going 10 a day. After that I was stuck in the bed for 24 hours . I felt a lil better after sleeping and pepto but decided to try this place. Now after the drip I didn't feel like I was Superman But I think it helped me and remember I was damn near died. Lol! Nice studio and spa in the city. We went here for float therapy and it was very nice and relaxing. We were offered with hot turmeric ginger tea and peppermint tea. It's all natural with all the herbs. The teas are really really good which I loved it so much. The float room has shower and all shampoo, conditioner and shower gel. Pause staff was super friendly and accommodating. The environment is so calm and welcoming as soon as you walk in. I did a Sauna, vitamin shot, and deprivation tank -- the rooms were all clean and showers were stocked with anything i'd possibly need. The only two issues I had were minor: 1. The speakers in my tank did not work. So rather than peacefully waking up, I woke up startled by the water jets. 2. The aux button / speakers in the sauna did not work either, so i was not able to connect to the speakers during my session. also, I wish someone would have mentioned the tea room to me. Anytime I feel like I'm hungover or getting sick, I did myself a favor and booked an IV drip, and they have a relaxing place to hang out while you receive the drip. I received a gift card after really enjoying Pause about a year ago. Since then it has gone completely down hill. In one visit I had to contend with no working toilet - two different defective pods and one pod with mold growing in it. The doors have all eroded and the place is generally unsanitary. Take my advise during this crazy time this is the last place you want to go. I have requested a refund for my gift card for two weeks and I can't even get a response. read more

What an incredible experience of immense sensory deprivation. Pause was so clean and welcoming. Shoutout the Liam and a young woman who helped me find a restroom (didn't get her name ). Would love to come back again. When you go in, you're greeted by the lovely receptionists. They then take you on a quick tour and ask you to take your shoes off. You have to shower before you get in the pod and then after to wash all the epson salt off. An hour is the perfect length to be in the flotation pod by the way! I was worried I wouldn't be able to last for an hour (as my own meditations are usually 15-25 minutes) and it passed by so quickly. After you're done, there's a meditation room with tea waiting for you. They didn't rush me and were so kind. Thank you guys for an amazing experience. read more

Ok, Ive gone to float a hand full of times at Pause (although the front desk girl didn't know this for some reason). Usually an amazing experience but this time it left much to be desired. Im a streamer on Twitch and wanted to stream my experience. First when I walked in to use the restroom it smelled awful in the hallway. Like moldy mildew sulfur and brimstone bacteria infection. It was nauseating. But it wasn't in my room so I didn't mention it. Float fine, great, cool, ok. But then. I always look forward to the zen room afterward which usually has turmeric ginger tea candles and meditation music, warm and inviting. Id bragged to my community about this amazing zen room. Hit the corner and nope foiled again. It was cold dark, the battery operated candles were turned off and no tea to speak of. But I could hear the front desk girl flirting with some guy at the front desk. I walked past a used tea set (which should have been collected by her) to the front desk where they both had their mask pulled down under their chins having a merry ol time. Im standing there hair wet cold like a beggar; waiting for this unprofessional heffa to acknowledge my presence. She looks over at me as if I was interrupting and I said "there's no tea in the zen room". her response "Tea? I can get tea, I guess"like She was doing me a favor. The guy said "Ill let you go and she told him it was ok and waved me off like I was trespassing on her property. By this time it was almost time to close, she brought my tea (begrudgingly) which was so hot I burned my hand then because it was almost closing I burned my mouth. Said forget it went to the front, no one. I waited, 5-mins then10 so I walked toward the door. Of course she pops up, and asked if I want to purchase more sessions. I am lucky enough to work across the street from the Pause Float Studio. I didn't even know they were there until I came across an ad for them and was intrigued. I did some research and decided that this was something I needed in my life... so I booked an appointment for myself and my coworker. I am so happy to have found this gem of a place! Upon arrival I was warmly greeted by Jackie and Katie. The lobby is absolutely gorgeous and I automatically felt a sense of peace. The girls spent time explaining the process with us, made sure we were comfortable, and then we were led to our rooms with our pods. First they have you shower and then you can get into the float pod. The water is room temperature which feels amazing when getting in. You have the choice to be in complete darkness or have a dim light inside the pod. There's a button that's easily accessible to turn it off or on during your float session. You can also turn on (or off) meditative music. It's so relaxing! The float pod itself is 8 feet long so it's very spacious and not at all claustrophobic as I thought it might be. You can even leave it open if you'd like, but it's better closed, like your own little cocoon. There's no latch on the pod so you don't need to worry at all. I chose to float in the dark with the music on. I immediately felt all my stress leaving my body, and the weightlessness from the 1000 pounds of epsom salts helped my spine decompress and feel fantastic. I have a stressful job and this has been a particularly long week so this was a very welcomed experience. 60 minutes in the pod, I floated effortlessly and let my mind leave my body. It was such a wonderful hour. When I was done, I showered again with their wonderful kelp shampoo, conditioner and body wash. Then I went to the relaxation room where they have pillows on the floor and a nice low table where we were given tumeric tea and got the chance to come back to the real world slowly. They even have a book to write your thoughts about your float experience, which I thought was really nice. Jackie came in to make sure we were okay and we had a wonderful conversation. She told me all about the studio and was just awesome in general. Katie was also fantastic, and made sure we were comfortable and accommodated every step of the way. I cannot wait to come back and I highly recommend Pause Float Studio for anyone who wants to relax and destress in their zen-like environment. Shady business. Not cool! My husband and I came here for the sauna room. We purchased 1 water bottle. Upon check out, my husband asked for the receipt, but the girl at the front desk told us it'll be emailed to us later. I checked the receipt and they had overcharged us for the session, and charged us for 2 bottles instead of 1. I politely emailed them to let them know of the error. They replied back and said they will send me the refund. I waited for the refund but it never arrived. I politely reminded them 2 more times over the course of 1.5 weeks. Nothing. The amount they overcharged is less than $20. No big deal. But you can't conduct a business overcharging customers. Not Cool! read more

Really weird to me at first because thru photos it just seems that when you close the pod, the top part would be right in your face but that's def not the case. As stated by the staff, it'll take a while for your body to get use to the fact that you actually can relax and float in water. I laid for about 5 mins at the beginning and was not comfortable so I opened the pod, stood up, loosened my body by stretching a bit, then went for it again and I felt amazing. Putting my arms up above my head was a more comfortable position. I really enjoyed it and would recommend it to anyone curious about. My friend wanted me to experience floating for my birthday and being that 2020 is so stressful, Pause seemed like the vibe we were going for. While I enjoyed the concept of floating, this studio has a lot to work on in terms of aligning their customer service with their relaxing image. As a first time floater, I listened to our introduction intently but ran into a few issues that made the entire time very stressful: - I got fully undressed to realize I didn't have earplugs, tried to peep my head out of the room but could not get anyone's attention, re-dressed and tiptoed out to the front desk (they make you take your shoes off at a communal midpoint in the studio, so don't bring any shoes you would be upset to find missing). Waited for the young man to finish with another customer and got some earplugs, cool, we are all set. - Had a lot of issues with the earplugs and would have loved some guidance during the intro. I was in and out of the tub a few times trying to get them to stop leaking. What they don't tell you, is that the water really hurts your eyes if it drips in, so this back and forth was really uncomfortable and made it hard to get back into a relaxed mode. Also, the room the tub is in is pretty cold for only dipping into a "skin temp" bath and the floor is very slippery when wet, so I was just all around having a hard time. Another side note, is that the salt in the water smells funny, I realize that's how it is supposed to smell but I am very sensitive to smell and would have loved a heads up so I could bring my own essential oils to defuse while in there for an hour. - Ok, I make it through the rest of the hour, and I am so happy to finally warm up in the shower, I love taking spa showers. JK - the shower DOES NOT get warm! I let it run and run and finally just tried my best to get the salt film off of me enough to put my clothes on. This is when I realize I used my ONLY towel during the in-and-outs of the tub and it's all salty. So I'm freezing, with salty, dry skin looking around for a body lotion. Nothing in sight, so I put my clothes on and tip-toe out again to the front desk. - Women at the front desk is in discussion with someone who I believe is a customer, I keep my distance (it is covid times after all) and wait for them to finish. Eventually, I get the women's attention and ask her if they have lotion, she just stares at me with a blank face so I to explain my situation, hey I just got out of the salt bath, and took a shower, now my skin is dry and itchy, do you have any lotion? Finally, the person who I assumed was a customer who speaks up and mentioned they have body oil! Ok, thanks for the info... but shouldn't this come from the attendant? So this body oil they show me is a sample from their little shop corner, which I'm sketched out by being that there is a GLOBAL HEALTH PANDEMIC going on. I'm standing there, skin itching, in their front lobby, in front of the window, trying to ask them where I should go to take my mask off and apply this (my float room was already being cleaned out). They completely ignore me as another first-time floater comes in, which apparently takes 2 people to attend to. So I take the body and face oil and tiptoe into the bathroom. Mind you, this bathroom is also cold, smells like a smell I only remember from tanning beds during my teenage years (don't judge me lol), and is also MISSING TOWELS, no paper towels, no cloth towels, nothing but toilet paper. So I quickly undress, trying to not let my clothes touch the floor, slap some oil on, and run out of there. By now, my friend is waiting for me at the front desk, and she's exclaiming that she also had a cold shower. This finally catches the attendant's attention who asks us how it was. I tell my whole story, my friend says hers, and all he has to say is "interesting" and charges us. Listen, I have personally worked in customer service for 10 years, and never once seen so many blank stares and unempathetic answers. For a place called PAUSE, with Venice beach pricing, you would expect it to be a place with a higher-end relaxing vibe, and this is just not it. Do not be fooled by the nice furniture, this company does is not interested in good service. read more

The Paise Studio is absolutely Amazing! This is the first time I've ever gotten an IV drip, although I felt like I really needed it. My body was severely dehydrated after drinking too much over the Holidays. I called the studio, they were so friendly on the phone and were able to get me in the next day. As I was waiting to get my IV drip, they gave me fresh complimentary tea. They had nice comfortable chairs throughout the spa. The nurse easily found my vein and didn't leave any marks. This experience was so nice and relaxing. I won two float sessions for myself and my boyfriend from a giveaway. They were super friendly and accommodating when setting up our float session. The studio itself is beautiful. Very well decorated, open space, relaxing music playing. I was a bit nervous going into this considering all the stories I've heard but the staff, Katie, was super chill and explained everything to us--how it worked, best placement of arms, etc. The experience itself was something else. It was a higher form of meditation for me. You're in this pod floating, no lights (which you do have the option to turn them on if need be), and you can do it with music or no music. Once it's over a faint voice brings you back, like in a meditation class. Afterwards your skin feels amazing. They have showers and great natural products (body wash, shampoo, conditioner). And then they have a separate room for you to relax in after if you want and bring you delicious jasmine (or matcha) tea. Only downside was in the room I was in, the pods music control was broken so I didn't have the option to turn off the music. Halfway through I wanted to be in silence but already chose to have it on so I was stuck with that. Overall this was a great experience, I totally suggest it if you need a break or just want a good meditation to yourself. read more

WOW! Just WOW! From the moment you walk into PAUSE and are greeted by the very beautiful and kind spirited manager Kati, until the time you leave, you feel as if you've been literally in Heaven floating on a cloud. Yesterday I took my mom on a very special day together and normally she is not into the new forms of meditation and relaxation. But as we were leaving she said that was very special for her. She recently lost her mom, my grandmother, and PAUSE Flotation was what she imagined my grandma felt like in Heaven. No pain in her legs and just this release of all the hardships that life can bring us. I'm so very thankful for PAUSE and we look forward to our next day together. What a shambles of a business. Unprofessional staff and poor management. The sauna is incredibly uncomfortable with loud and rickety benches, there is no water provided in the room nor any robes for guests. There is not even a chair to sit in after the sauna room. A business model that really has not been thought through correctly and put themselves in the eyes of a guest. Basic things like if you are providing a sauna service followed by a float service provide guests with a robe to use while you are moving to different rooms. Or when guests arrive, show them around and explain the process. We were actually told to put our clothes back on after our sauna and wait until our float booking - to which they messed up and booked the wrong time. We had to ask for water three times. Rooms were dirty and bathrooms the same. Did not feel like a place to relax in any way. read more

Amazing experience all around! It was my first time floating and I'll definitely be back. The service: Harper and Zen were extremely warm and patient with me as a first time floater. Harper took me through an intro before going into the room with the pod and gave me a few tips on what to expect. I was a little wary as a first time floater and her tips and instructions reassured me. The experience: I've dabbled in some 5-10 minute guided meditations on youtube but in terms of zen-like activities, that's about it. Needless to say, I was wary of spending an hour alone in isolation with only my thoughts. Once in the room, Harper showed me how to control the pod - two very simple buttons that turn the lights and music on and off. I took a shower and stepped into the pod. I laid back, closed the lid, and started the meditation. To my surprise, the tank felt roomy - I didn't feel constricted at all. By minute 5 I was so relaxed I was barely listening to the meditation, just focusing on my breath and enjoying the darkness. After the meditation I turned off the music and basked in the stillness. Yes, I just used the word "basked." The feeling of floating in complete darkness was unlike anything I've ever felt before - in a really good way! To sum it up, this experience was amazing. I personally enjoyed it much more than a massage. It was like a cross between a massage and meditation. I will definitely be back and next time I'll be introducing my fiance to the experience as well. read more

I did a floating thing over 20 years ago in Chicago and hated it. I remember it being in a dark, dingy, basement-y kind of place, and the tank was awful and made me claustrophobic, and I lay in there the whole time wondering if anyone would judge me for climbing out early and getting the heck out of there. Pause is a TOTALLY different experience. For one, the pods are brand spanking new, modern, and feel like little womb-like sanctuaries. There's some subtle, relaxing lighting and music that you can choose to have on during your float, which is really comforting if you're new to floating. The rooms are incredibly clean. I felt relaxed and happy when I left. If you're curious about floating, this is DEFINITELY the place to do it! read more

i'd like to say this is my third float with PAUSE, my first two were at the weho location. the weho location literally made me fall in love with floats, but due to transportation issues i had to do my last session at the venice location. First off the staff were so friendly and accommodating when i arrived, especially since i was late they were nice about it and lead me to the room. immediately i noticed the facility has an overwhelming stench of chlorine or some strong chemical coming from the pods. on top of that, there was a dirty towel on the floor next to my pod which kinda irked me. and when i went into the water it felt really slimy/itchy compared to my times at weho. overall i felt stressed about my hygiene i was unable to relax. would love to book another appointment at the weho location but maybe not at venice. read more

There are so many things this place gets right (beautiful, tranquil aesthetic; a cozy meditation room and hot tea for your post-float reentry into the real world; nice bath products). Unfortunately, it's what they get wrong here that will be the reason I forgo purchasing another float package: 1. The float room and (sometimes) the pod smell strongly of what I can only describe as mildew. I really do believe they make a great effort here to keep things clean and I'm sure there's only so much that can be done in a room filled with room temp water, but the smell is incredibly distracting and prevented me from getting the most out of my last float. 2. The last two times I was there they weren't able to balance the temperatures of the room and the water, which is one of the most important components of the experience 3. There's one girl who works here that has no sense of customer service, the environment she's working in, or the tone she should be helping to set for guests. Whenever my husband or I go in for a float and she's working we feel like we're showing up for a visit at a clinic. She leads you back to your pod/room like you're about to get a Pap smear. She's short, dismissive and behaves like a disgruntled employee. Without exaggeration, her attitude and demeanor are more off-putting than the smell of the mildew (or whatever it is). Wow what a great experience ! I was so nervous and scared to try it because I'm extremely claustrophobic but my friend dragged me in .. I thought it was a little pricey at first but it's SO worth it. I've always dreamed of being able to get into a sensory deprivation tank and just shutting the world out for awhile, so naturally I was thrilled to learn about this new float tank thing! I have friends who rave about floating in Pasadena, but Pause is closer to where I live so it made sense to try this place first on my journey to ultimate hermitude. I came in on a Sunday afternoon after a workout. I easily found street parking around the corner (for free!), and as I entered, I was greeted warmly by the 2 receptionists. I waited for about 5 minutes for 2 other people to show up who were also floating for the 1st time. After they arrived, one of the receptionists gave us an overview of the pods, how they work, the process and benefits of using the tanks, and answered any questions we had. Then she showed us to our private rooms and even brought me saline solution & a container for my contacts (you don't have to take them out, but I was worried about getting the salt in my eyes). After rinsing off in the shower, I stepped into the softly glowing blue pod filled halfway with warm water & over 1,000 lbs of epsom salt. I already felt like I was stepping into the future. I started out with the guided meditation in darkness but turned it off after about 5 minutes so I could truly be left alone. It took about 10-15 minutes for my anxious mind to calm down but from there I vacillated between excited imagining of the future and complete numbing relaxation. I felt like I was wrapped in a warm cloud, or what I imagine being in the womb must feel like. I drifted in & out of sleep during the 2nd half of my float, and when the soft blue light came back on & a gentle woman's voice told me my session was ending, I did a little stretching and felt happier more well-rested & energized than I ever remember feeling. As I lifted the cover & stepped out of my pod, I literally felt like a person in a sci-fi movie, waking up to my new body & going out into a new world. The only thing that broke the magic of transitioning out of the pod was the room temperature. It felt quite cold compared to the pod water. Other than that, the experience was great and I am definitely going back. It's funny because a couple weeks ago, my friends & I were joking about how awesome it would be if we could somehow have this "super sleep" that gave you a full night's worth of sleep in just a couple of hours. Oddly enough, that is possible with float pods! I learned that 1 hour of sleep in the pod is equal to 4 hours of sleep in a bed!! I went to 'Pause' at 12pm today to purchase a gift card for my friends birthday today and had the strangest most unwelcoming experience. To start, my friend and I walked in to an empty front desk. Five minutes pass and still no one comes to greet us. So I walk out and come back in hoping the door would be noisy enough to get some attention. That didn't work. We could hear people chatting in the back somewhere so after 10 minutes I decided to call the store. The phone rang but the volume was turned so low that only I could hear the ringing. I then used the time in the lobby to search for another float spa and located a place in Santa Monica. Just as I decided to give up, a short haired woman walks to the desk, sits down, and says "Hi." She didn't apologize, ask how long we had been waiting, let alone smile or make us feel like she wanted our business. However I decided to continue with my gift card purchase questions. I asked if she could explain the 'infrared sauna' service because I was confused about a lot of things. "You're confused about a lot of things?" She repeated very rudely. So I asked again if she could explain the sauna, as the infrared addition was new to me. She reluctantly and impatiently provided the details. Meanwhile, other staff members would come and set things behind the counter without smiling or acknowledging the now five guest in the lobby. It went on like this for another few minutes before I decided to get out of there. I arrived with the intention to purchase a multi package service for myself and my friend, but torn between the reviews and my experience at the front desk I settled for one 60 minute float session and got out of there. This must be the place! I can safely swear by the float as this is a relaxing experience, but having tried another place before this is the one. The pods are a very large and they are esthetically pleasant. The facility is super clean. The rooms are very spacious and all to yourself. They even have a special lotion to put on your skin in case you have small cuts that may burn when you are floating. When the session is over the music fades and a nice voice wakes you up gently. You get a hot ginger tea afterwards that helps you to smooth transition back into the world. I loved this place. Beautiful lobby with lovely countertops. The float was pretty cool. They give you perfect instructions beforehand so you know what to expect and what to do. Floating was very peaceful, although I still couldn't shut down my mind. My body enjoyed the weightless feeling, like a cross between being in outter space and a baby in the womb. You get waterproof ear plugs. They provide nice shampoo, conditioner, and body wash for showering afterwards. I loved the little dark room where you can sit on the floor and have hot tea after your float. Great, kind staff. Would like to go again for sure someday. read more

I was traveling, and came here specifically for the sauna so next time will do a float as it looked a lot less scary than I thought. Also they said I could keep the clam shell roof open. The front desk was nice enough but there was little needed interaction. Their infrared sauna is great- and yes you can tell used a lot but never the less i came for the treatment and it totally delivered. I bought a water before going in (not over the top expensive I think $3 but you can bring your own. You need a lot of water as it is very detoxifying. I did the longest session available and was happily surprised that it was long enough and there is a nice-comfortable shower there with high quality shampoo /conditioner and good towels. I just wish my own bathroom was like this. I think it was about $45 so no not cheap-they do have packages that would make it cheaper. read more

Hello everyone, I love floating and consider myself somewhat of an experienced floater. This place is second to none! One of the most amazing float experiences I have ever had and I have floated many dozens of times. The staff was amazing and super friendly. The tanks themselves are state-of-the-art and the ambiance and atmosphere of the studio is simply stunning. I highly recommend Pause float. This last part goes out to anybody who would write a one-star review of this place. In my opinion if you write bad reviews for a place like this you obviously need to float more, LOL! - keep it floating! read more
