Linguine with pesto sauce, cheese, salami and greens.
Yasaman J.

As the rule of tumb, wherever the locals dine, might be a good place to eat..That is how we came across this place and I have to say we are happy that we did... We got there around 7 and the locals were already dining while enjoying their wines and having good time. We were sat at our table by a nice waitress.. It didn't seem like she knew much English, but God bless her that at least she tried to help us out with the menu since it was in French. I so wanted to try a new dish, but I didn't know what the menu said. Having no wifi there, I didn't have the luxury to go through the Yelp pictures either... I ended up ordering the Linguine with pesto sauce and the husband ordered the veal dish. I have to say that my linguine dish was delicious.. As a hardcore Chopped watcher, I have always wondered what the judges meant by saying, "the dish elements make sense together, but individually not somuch". Well when it came to my dish, that is how I felt. The pasta with pesto was very lightly seasoned but it went perfect with salty Salami. The greens were lightly dressed, but it went great with the cheese and the olive oil that the pasta was tossed with. As for my husband's veal dish, I have to say it was perfectly cooked and the sauce that came with was just delicious. The service was very friendly and we enjoyed our dining experience. I will for sure keep this place in mind for next time that we visit Paris..:-)

Came here because we saw a large crowd of locals and figured that's a good sign. Not to our surprise, the food was absolutely fantastic. The Haddock tartar and beet salad was probably the best salad I've ever had. The people are nice and the work staff are friendly. Great spot!

I've been to this place several times now. For lunch (lovely salads) and for drinks. This place is always busy and with nice weather the terrace is always filled with people. I keep coming back to this place because it is in one of my favourite neighbourhoods. The service here is okay and the prices also. Love this place most because of the location, the vibe and the food. It has this very creative feeling also. I think it is cosy with pretty windows and nice details. A good spot to have lunch, drinks and relax while in this neighbourhood.

Me and my daughter soaking in the Parisian atmosphere and smoke

My family and I rode the Eurostar train (highly recommend) from London for a quick overnight trip to Paris. I figured this may be the only chance my kids would get to say they had been to Paris even if it was for only two days. We stayed at the nearby Hotel Albe Bastille so it was a short walk to Pause. We elected to eat outside although that meant we were with the smokers. Wow. It was intense but good for my California kids to experience since smoking like this is totally forbidden where we live. When in Paris, right? It was a Tuesday in June and it was very busy with young locals. A good sign. We started with the poached egg appetizer. Get it. Quality French dairy ingredients at their best. For the main course I had the veal. Sauteed veal scallopine with risotto and a rich brown gravy. Yum! My daughter had steak frites and my wife had salmon. I don't remember what my son had but we all enjoyed our meal and the authentic ambiance. If I find myself in Paris anytime soon and I'm in the area I would go back although I think I'd sit inside where it's smoke free.

We enjoyed our dinner on the outside of the restaurant after about a 20-30 minute wait. The bone marrow had the best flavor I've experienced for the dish. However, it is definitely overshadowed by the rich flavor of the foie gras. This experience was unforgettable, with our view of Parisian streets on a brisk, April night. We even came back on our last night, but didn't realize the hours on Google maps was for the deli. The restaurant closes earlier, before 9:00 PM. This meal got us thinking about Paris in a positive light, and we hope to be able to come back to eat the amazing dishes again!

I started with the free-range eggs with mayo, and my wife started with the leeks with vinaigrette. The eggs were delicious, but the leeks may have been the best preparation I've ever had in my life. For our main courses, she had the egg muffin, and I had the sausage and mash. Our meal was superb. Whoever is in the kitchen has clearly learned the art of French cuisine well. Service was fantastic, the people-watching (we ate al fresco) was fantastic, and I simply couldn't think of a way to make this a better meal.

Luca Recommended a meal with a mashed potatoes and sausage with French bread and salad and it sounded tasty so I gave it a go! All the flavors went well together; mashed potatoes were well seasoned the sausage had a good flavor, and the salad with the vinaigrette added a crunch in an extra flavor as well. I drank a French hard cider while I gobbled up my meal, which also was new for me and tasted great after I was done my meal. It blows any salad I have had in the US out of the water. Hard boiled eggs are in it, a large fresh chicken breast, and all the ingredients taste fresh. There seems to be some confusion in the reviews about which establishment this is; there are two…read morerestaurants helmed by female chefs in Paris, one named simply "Buvette" (by the American chef Jody Williams; there is also a NYC outpost of the same name) and one called "La Buvette" (this is the correct page for the restaurant operated by Camille Fourmont). While I love NYC's Buvette, La Buvette is an entirely different sort of restaurant and is my NUMBER ONE recommendation for friends visiting Paris who enjoy natural wine/small plates/a slightly chaotic atmosphere. I make sure to come here as many times as I can whenever I visit Paris, and I've even gone to a La Buvette pop-up in NYC when the chef came last year. I'm definitely a La Buvette groupie. A buvette is a restaurant that sells wine to go and to drink in situ, along with a selection of small plates. While I hate the ubiquity of the term 'tapas' to describe dishes that are not quite entree-sized, you can think of La Buvette's dishes as basically tapas: smaller portions meant to be ordered in multiple and shared over a bottle of wine. The wine selection here is tightly curated and I've never had a glass that I disagreed with -- everything is pretty simpatico if you're into this style of wine, and the staff are quite helpful in steering you toward bottles you might enjoy. In past visits, I've often found myself ordering over half the menu, which is written on a mirror-board on the wall and changes daily. Everything is quite simple, made with excellent ingredients, and quite good. Note: this is not a full-service kitchen, so don't expect an elaborate dinner. Think of this as an appreciation of simplicity and purity of flavor, and you'll have a much better time than if you expect a 10-hour cassoulet or something. Get some cheeses and charcuterie, and absolutely get the big white beans with citrus zest. Savor the flavors. While I'd love for this to remain a hidden gem, the secret has definitely gotten out, and it's not really much of a "neighborhood" establishment anymore. Expect a line unless you get there quite early, and note that you won't have any privacy because the space is tiny, and you may end up drinking your wine standing by a tiny corner of the counter. To me, that's part of the charm, and Camille Fourmont has created quite a remarkable place that I find simply perfect. It's a must-visit in Paris!
