My family and I ate at Paul's on Times Square several times while in Manhattan. We stayed at the Hilton Garden Inn Times Square Central which is connected to this restaurant through the main lobby. Breakfast was included in our stay, so we ate breakfast routinely at Paul's. I loved the ambiance. The service was impeccable. Loved having some OJ and Coffee every day at the start of the day. The breakfast was buffet style. Not a lot of choices, but it was good. The food, though, was a bit slow. I think they need more cooks for the breakfast buffet, because the one guy was working hard to keep the food coming... just the demand was too much! Heck i had to wait to finish my meal to be able to get some bacon one day. All in all, I enjoyed having breakfast here. They need to staff up, though. read more

My group had talked to the manager and made a reservation for 15+ people, but when we arrived the wait staff were completely unaware of the reservation. We ended up having to wait over an hour to be seated. The wait staff were incredibly gracious and took really good care of us as the whole night. The restaurant gave us all 2 free drinks and several 20% off coupons to make up for the wait. The food seems to be pretty good. I'm vegan so my options were very limited, but I understand I'm not really the target demographic. They said the arugula salad could be made vegan, and ended up giving me a plate of arugula with absolutely no toppings. The entree was better- they modified the spaghetti with marinara and added vegetables. Heads up- the portion sizes are really really big. This place was disappointing all around. The lobster ravioli was thick (ravioli people know this is NOT good), and the dish was fishy tasting (ie not fresh lobster). I asked for the vodka marinara option but was given Alfredo. I had one bite. I asked for a mocktail and received a super sweet strawberry puree drink that was so thick the puree stuck in the straw. The tomatoes on the appetizer were not ripe and were tasteless. My companion was saddened by his Manhattan, which came with an orange peel. I thought I had already left a review for Paul's, since we've been here about a dozen times over the last four months. Had I written it a couple of months ago, it would have been a four or five star review. BUT, alas ... what seemed like a sweet romance seemed to fade fast. Yesterday though was the LAST time coming back here, despite living just blocks away. I don't know what's happened to Paul's of recent times. It was once our go to place for a guaranteed good meal and lovely time. Last night we went to Paul's because we (had been) huge fans and regular diners there. We've probably been a dozen times in the last few months. Two of our best friends were in town and we were excited to take them there before catching a show.   But it was one of the worst NYC dining experiences we had, not just from the food, but the service, everything. A couple of times the chef came out to cater to the whims of the table behind us that everyone seemed to desperately trying to please. They were tripping over themselves for the four people at the table behind us and completely forgetting there was a dining room of other guests who also came here for a good meal and a good time. Sadly, I think few did. We certainly didn't.   Doing that dog and pony show -- with the chef coming out with a fish on a platter and all -- at the sacrifice of us, including ignoring us, serving food late and incorrectly and completely acting as if no one else was eating there was inexcusable.   At one point our server came to our table to let me know they were out of the ceviche, which was fine. But she was so focused on whoever the people were behind us that even my literally waving my hands in the air to tell her what I wanted to have instead (shrimp cocktail) failed to get her attention. It wasn't only her, there were several staff that were standing next to our table and completely oblivious, looking above us and around us. One of our dinner guests had to get up and wave in front of her to finally get her to look. And then it took 15 - 20 minutes to get a SHRIMP COCKTAIL, on the heels of our meal coming out. Adding insult to injury, our server than added 20% to a four top, knowing she had pretty much been MIA despite walking by us. But to not tell us, when it's not customary of Paul's to do that is bad restaurant etiquette 101. And then to not only do it deceitfully but to LIE and say it's customary when NEVER on any of our last 12 visits (I have the receipts) had any gratuity been added. We would have left 25-30% as we often do, even last night. That alone is shady and reason enough never to return.    I hope all of that was worth losing a valuable and loyal (and regular) patron. This was one of the WORST dining experiences we've had as of late and it was worse since we were entertaining two of our best friends who were visiting and we had raved about this place. NEVER AGAIN. I did not enjoy this restaurant. I felt service was lackluster, food was mediocre (and made me kind of ill later), and it was also slow. There wasn't really any ambiance here to speak of as this restaurant is inside a hotel. They did have reservations available when others didn't but I think there's probably a reason for that. We wanted to grab dinner before going out to see our broadway show. We decided to check out this restaurant since it was in the hotel were were staying at. We arrived and go to choose where we wanted to sit. There weren't too many people so we had good choice in seating. Soon as we were seated, I used Yelp to check-in and to my surprise received an offer for 5% the meal. May not seem like a lot, but it was a welcomed surprise. Service was wonderful. Our waiter and other staff were super friendly and came to check on us often. We pulled up the menus using the QR code and we were presented with tablet to view the cocktail menu. The cocktails were yummy and mixed just right. The food was very good. My fiancé ordered the grilled salmon with asparagus and roasted potatoes and I ordered the linguini bolognese. For main, we had Branzino Di Chile Piccata, Salmone Alla Cartoccio, and Capellini Ai Frutti Di Mare. Branzino was cooked perfectly, Salmon was packed with flavor, but it could've come with a bit more veggies... Seafood Pasta was a nice big portion, with a generous amount of seafood. So, this is the story about two pizzas! We are staying at the Hilton garden inn that has Paul's On The Square inside the hotel. We decided to order a couple of pizzas off the room service menu and figured we'd run downstairs to get them to save on the delivery charge of 20% and $3. On the menu they gave a small and a large pizza but we were told they only had the small available. On the menu the cheese pizza was $9 plus $2 per topping for $11 ($22 plus tax). They called our room and said they were ready so e we went to pick them up and the bill was $48. When we questioned the bill they got angry with us and said we ordered off an old menu! we ordered off the menu provided to us in our room so that should should be the price. I would have paid for them but the lady at the restaurant started to get angry at us so we told them they could keep their pizzas and left. So I cannot tell you how good out bad they are but I can tell you hot rude they are! Don't think I'll be ordering from them again any time soon!!! My home away from home during many workweeks! I have had nearly everything on the menu and have made wonderful acquaintances with their charming evening staffers. I love to sit at the bar and dine. Pasta is amazing, as is chx Marsala and salmon. Didn't feel the need to write home about the pizza but it will do in a pinch. Have made a meal out of the squash soup and arugula salad or the sides: oven-roasted potatoes and grilled asparagus. The only reason this is not five stars is they haven't quite got the entire day managed. Breakfast can be disappointing, depending upon your server, and I have sat indefinitely midday hoping for lunch only to leave I acknowledged. Wanted to eat something different and try somewhere new on the mealpal app. When I read that Paul's offer a meatball parm hero and fries, it was what I was looking for. I needed a break from what I was eating normally. The restaurant is located in the Hilton Garden Inn on Floor HL. After you arrive at HL Floor, you make a left through the hotel lobby then a right to restaurant. The mealapp QR code is located by the hostess station. The person gave me my food in a short amount of time. I was so hungry that I didn't take a better picture. The meatball parm hero hit the spot and the fries were still good. I should have poke some holes in the cover so that the fries didn't steam in the container to be soft. There are so much fries which is greatly appreciated. I bought a Groupon to come here but I was a little iffy since we all know that Times Square is a tourist trap. I was very pleasantly surprised by how nice this restaurant was and the food was great. We started with bruschetta and burrata salad. Both appetizers were really well made but my favorite was the burrata salad. I went with a seafood pasta dish and everything was cooked perfectly and the best part the sauce that it was made with was excellent. My fiancé had a mushroom pasta and it was just as good as mine. Dinning at Paul's On Times Square was a backup plan for me since it was conveniently located at the Hilton I was staying at. It was a perfect backup plan because the food was spectacular! The staff was knowledgeable about the menu and made a great recommendation (Chicken Marsala). The Chicken Marsala was delicious and the side of potatoes was a great match (surprisingly). Their beard appetizer (free) was so good too. They were little bite size pieces of buttered up yummy bread served with olive oil and seasonings. The atmosphere was intimidate due to the lighting (even though I ate alone, I had a very romantic alone dinner LOL). I highly recommend this restaurant if you're staying at the Hilton. read more

For apps we chose the margherita pizza which was outstanding and a delicious caesar salad! When I tell you the pizza and salad were fabulous I am not kidding! Some of the freshest and most flavorful pairings I've ever had. For my entree I chose the penne ala vodka with veggies instead of salmon and my boyfriend chose the spaghetti with veal. Both dishes were awesome and beautifully presented! On the downside they served us some bread in the beginning that was stale and the oil was just pure sad but the rest of the meal made up for it certainly!! The style of the restaurant blew me away! The menu was different than what was posted online... No lasagna which is what my husband wanted most. The only vegetarian dish was mushroom pappardelle.
